Anyone else think its interesting to how first ancient man got the attention of a fellow ancient man without a communication?
Did they...

Spank ( original.gif )
Hit
Yell....To get the attention of the peers around them?
Some sort of body gestures? Maybe?

Interesting question. thumbsup.gif I imagine personal names came about soon after the concept of language. Early humans would name a tree or rock, so it only stand to reason that they would name themselves too I suppose. "Hello, my name is Ugh, and this is my wife Ugh Lee." laugh.gif

Probably before that, though then yells or grunts or even nudges would have sufficed I would imagine. grin2.gif

Sure, that makes perfect sense! After all, there was an old song from the late 1950's called "Alley Oop" by the Hollywood Argyles. (Alley Oop was a popular cartoon strip about a caveman.) Maybe that song was an updated version from 1 million BC!

They would have needed to communicate long before they even came to resemble modern man. Their language was probably much like the language of many animals in the world today and it's just kept evolving into more complexed sounds and languages.
