To Clovis and UMF members ... About 3 1/2 years ago I was doing some research when I came upon the Kerry Temple article "Who Do Men Say I am" from the 1990 edition of Notre Dame Magazine (one of the most respected universities in academia) and a quote from professor Reginald Fuller (noted Biblical scholar). Both were from a skeptic's site. Now, everyone knows how I feel regarding apologetic/skeptic sites--not too good! Nonetheless, I used the information thinking it to be correct. While the Fuller quote turned out to, indeed, be correct (I purchased the book and will post it in-full as soon as possible), the Temple article did not!!! It was not posted in its entirety ... and some slicing and dicing occurred. I have contacted this site and--very angrily--jumped down their throats ... rightfully accusing them of plagiarism!!!! Folks, I was duped!!!! And I was duped because--as Clovis rightly stated--I was lacks in my research ... which resulted in posting information that was a mishmash of truth and deception. To say I am both embarrassed and ashamed would be an understatement!!!! I work very hard to try and get things correct--to do proper research. Obviously that did not happen here ... and I have let all of you down.
To all of you, I humbly apologize for my blatant stupidity!!!! No excuses!!!
PA ... If possible, please remove the article from this board. Thank you.
Clovis ... To you, sir, a most sincere apology. To say that I'm sorry is simply not enough. Words cannot express my profound regret. You were most correct in your accusations. I thank you for putting me in my rightful place--the rubbish bin!!! Again, my most sincere apologies.

This is the internet. No one really remembers or cares what you say anyway.
So don't worry.

Rightful place?!?...the rubbish bin?!? Those are harsh words coming from a man for whom most here have the utmost respect for.
Sean, you are a man of great integrity. Unfortunately, these things happen sometimes...but it certainly is not a reflection of your character, although some may mistakenly think otherwise.
Thank you for everything you do here. I've learned a lot from you.

It is admirable that you are fact checking your posts and sources sean. The internet while allowing for an information explosion globally also has allowed much misinformation to be spread through the same medium. With the good comes the bad and more good means more bad. It is not as if every book in the library or book stores are free from error as well, especially with the advent of new information in almost every topic increasing every decade, what was written one hundred or even two decades ago and considered to be fact might already be dated and incorrect. Theories are always being revised even when we try our hardest to find and pass on the best information we can find. Luckily this pace of change does not effect classic history and new information can be better absorbed and incorporated.
Either way most interested in the Fuller's work and cannot wait to read whatever you will allow us to know what he has written in his Christology book. It seems most interesting and I might have to search out a full copy of it as well though for now I am focusing on reading through many issues of Military History I never had a chance to read before when I was a subscriber. Just finished reading an article regarding Hezekiah, king of Judah, regarding his iconclasm in an effort to steer his nation away from idolatry, and his breaking away from Assyrian domination. Assyria came with all her might destroying the countryside and ravaging the nation but stopped short of Jerusalem because of the Babylonians rebelling again.
Comparing Assyrian records carved in stone and the like they also found a few inconsistencies regarding the historical narrative offered in the Bible regarding the whole situation.
But really regarding your post there is no need to apologize for we all make mistakes and as long as we strive for excellence continuously we cannot help it when something slips in that should not. I am sure Fuller's account will be balanced supporting some points that believers will be pleased with and others that some might not be so pleased with but with anyones historical work, especially when about the Bible, I try my hardest to turn off my beliefs and focus solely on their work then compare it to others and also attempt to find out what the consensus is regarding anyone's work. Your post is appreciated but apologizing is not necessary since there were never feelings involved on my side...I tend to turn off my emotions too when dealing with historical matters but most of the times they do creep in is my awe at imagining I was there when such instances were occurring. Learning new historical narratives or a series of facts I never knew before excite me, tremendously, maybe more than others would understand, but from reading your posts, and going off to do my own research regarding it, has already provided me this satisfaction so for that thank you.

And with that response from Clovis, I think I can close this thread up. Thank you muchly, sean, for your apology. It was totally unnecessary to apologise, but very kind and bold to do so anyway, and everything that I have come to expect from you. Thank you, and good to see some goodwill and cheer on this board for once instead of incessant fighting (underneath it all, I think despite our differences of opinion, most of us really care for, and respect each other, which is great). So with that said.....
