I was just doing some thinking a few months back, and I came to a very interesting conclusion with respect to Heaven vs Hell. I am an atheist, and most intelligent people these days are atheists as well, so am I wrong in thinking I would actually prefer dining in hell with Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, etc.. then be up in Heaven with stuck up milk toasts from the suburbs chatting about the effectiveness of their new diet? I think, as strange as it may sound, that even if heaven and hell were proved true, I would PREFER to go to Hell! And please do not argue about "smart" people being atheists, you know it is true and that is not the main point of this post anyway.

Isn't the modern interpretation of Hell made up?

Ya I realized it was similar to 300 lol, and I do not know about the interpretation of Hell to be honest, but concerning firey pits of doom with atheists and other sinners, it seems more interesting people will be in the fiery pits of doom... except for Jesus lol

Practice what you preach, not what others do. If you don't agree with other teachings, then live by those you do accept, not by those you don't. Smart atheists know that there is already a word to describe smart people, and that is smart, not 'atheist.' If you refine the word 'atheist' more than what it really means (one who does not believe in God), then you have rendered both smart and atheist useless, seeing that one can no longer tell the difference. Open up a philosophy book every once and a while...and one on manners.

I believe there was something written on one site, about how "hell" was a paradise... Personally I think heaven is kinda overrated... HELL is not a place you want to be people. Whether it is the place in the bible (weeping and nashing of teeth) or if it is your own hell on earth for eternity. In life, you make your bed through your actions eventually you will have to sleep in it!

One thing I never understood. . .Pain is a physical sensation. .. so if you're there in spirit. . .how do you feel anything without all the nerves and stuff. . . That would be a whole other topic as to what the soul is actually made of and all that, so I guess I just won't bring it up. . .Things like that generally go way over my head anyways. . .but I have always been rather curious as to what sensations a soul is supposed to possess. I mean. . .is there supposed to be a spirit equivalent of nerve endings?

One thing I don't understand is the nature of hell. Is it a universe? Our soul must therefor be somehow bond to spacetime and the fabric of reality since it seems hell has "time".

If I believed in hell there would probably be a lot of my family and friends waiting to give me a welcome party when I got there.
