by the way it seem the files sizes for the pics are 1.34 MB or so! make sure you turn them into a JPEG file typ before you post them. you can do that by right clicking the pic and selecting edit which should take you into paint. then go to file and select save as. a screen should pop up that will let you change the file name and its typ. hope that helps.

I downloaded the free trial last night. I only got to create one creature before my daughters (5 and 10) scooted me away so they could play. It was pretty cool and well worth the 200 meg download.
But what else is there to do? What do you do with your creatures? I seen where you can have your own "spore page" and share your creations, but that seems like a fad that would quickly wear off. Can you fight them? Now that would be cool.

no you cant fight them or any thing but what there doing is taking all the creatures people make and using them to populate the spore universe. so when it releases on september 7th all of the creatures already in it is stuff other people have made. so there taking the stuff you create and using it to pollinate the game.

OH. I guess that game will be one in which you grow your world through time. Kind of a Empire Earth/Sim Earth mix?

The parasite was hard since there isn't really any mouth in the 25% version that looks anything like the one sin the movie.But i did the best i could.

I got around to getting the Spore demo last night... Only made one creature hope it gives ya all a laugh.

I call it the penisaurus.



This game is fun.

That is such an original creation athiest god,Really it is.

Spore has come out today in the UK, and I have brought it and so far it's awsome. I have just got out of the ocean and now have to hunt for DNA. This game was well worth the wait.

I'm just home from a grilling days work...... I'm opening my CD drive


... I'm putting in the disk

... I'm uninstalling my trail version

I have just managed to conqure the planet I was on and I am now in outerspace. The whole first planet is a huge tutorial, but not an annoying one. This game is freaking awsome. On your first planet that you start off on, you will mostly come acroos your's and maxis creatures, but when you have evolved to tribe status, you will come across some creatures made by others. Becareful though, the game sometimes takes a creature and makes it Titan size to attack you, which is horrible lol.

Got to tribal before I was kicked off by my sibling.

Out of lack of imagination (and because I wasn't taking it seriously) I called my monsters the Google! ... and I must admit, I think they look quite cool.

I had to restart during the creature stage though, cause I couldn't bring myself to kill the other animals, so I made a race of peaceful purple feathered freaks instead.


I must say however, the game is far more cartoony than the original movies indicated, the blood and animal *ehm* mating scenes have been removed. The predators don't rip chuncks out of the body either, or drag the body.

They must have decided over the last year to make it more like a cartoon to get a PG rating.


Also the 3D water stage is gone.

What the hell is up with the space level?! Its on insane difficultly mode compared to the rest of the game!

I've just spent 4 hours trading spice with my neighbours and got the $500,000 needed for a ground based laser, because I need it to fight the hostile aliens who every ten minutes attack one of my colonies and force me to got defend it. And finally having gotten this weapon I assume I can launch an attack, but noooooooooooo! The ground weapon is pretty much useless against any moderately well defended city!

I'm on ****g easy mode! It should not take 4 hours of flying back and forth between worlds trying to get a good deal on spices, only to be constantly be distracted by an enemy whose homeworlds you can't invade!

DID THEY ACTUALLY THINK TRADING SPICES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD THE ITEMS NEEDED TO COLONISE PLANETS AND DEFEND YOURSELF WOULD BE FUN!?

Seriously am I missing something and there is an easier way to make gold than trading and doing stupid quests that don't pay half the time?!

I've loved this game in Creature mode, but now its just p*ssing me off!

How did you choose to play at the beginning?

On my first attempt, I played as a carnivore and went around making every species I came across extinct, and earned the warrior reward, I was hostile non stop through the game, untill I got to the space stage.

When I got to the space stage I was surrounded by hostile aliens, and was attacked every 2 minutes, and was getting killed over and over again. They actually do come down to the planet when you are a primitive creature and monitor you and the rest of the creatures, and they do abduct your and other creatures on rare occasions.

On my second attempt I played as a herbivore, and befriended everything I could, and when I got to the space stage it was much more easier on me, I found myself surrounded by friendly aliens who wanted to open trade routes and make alliances.

I was able to colonize 5-6 planets without too much trouble after that, and also I suffered less raids by pirates.

The game has gotten more difficult again for me now, because I have bumped into a couple of races who worship SPODE, and they keep raiding my and my CPU allies planets.

I find myself spending my cash now to pay my allies to attack my enemies.


Edit to add:

I think the trick is to not be too hostile at the beginning, and also try not to stray too far from your planet looking for life. I think the developers did say that the game will adjust to how you play, and that your actions will have a effect on future events.

My second race are religious shamans and have had a easier time than my carnivore warriors.

Also about the spice, if you are able to get some colonies up, they sometimes will pay really silly high prices for the spice you harvest, which saves you having to mess about with aliens, and risk offending them in some way. One of my planets was harvesting spice and would pay me really stupid high prices to buy it back off me lol.

To anyone else who gets this game, watch out for any race that follows SPODE, they are just plain tough.

On my first game which only lasted a few hours I played a carnavour, but I quite quickly after I moved to creature mode because I didn’t have the heart to kill the cuter animals.

So I reset and started playing an Herbivore who I turned into an Omnivore. I made friends with practically everyone in creature mode, save for two guys who attacked my allies nest. I made allies of tribal and didn’t kill anyone. I converted everyone in city mode (although I found it ironic that they said religions convert through peace and love, when traditionally most are spread through sword and spear).

So I get to space mode, meet about 5 friendly races, ally with 3, and on good conditions with the rest. Then suddenly I find out a star very close to mine I haven’t explored it home to a bunch of lunatics who want to attack everyone. Its just one race, and I can easily beat their ships, but I can’t afford the weapons to destroy their cities, and cash in general seems hard to come by as spice prices are rising. I have only 2 colonies, one gives me a little spice, the other one (the one recommended by the computer in the tutorial, is to inhospitable to do anything with), even though I blasted it with an atmosphere tool later on.

I’ll give it another go now that I’m slept and refreshed, but seriously I thing this game has forgotten most people bought it to evolve their animal, the space idea is good, but more time and complexity should have been given to earlier modes. Galactic Civilisation 2 is the best galactic dominion game out there.

I think EA had something to do with ruining the game, since their is mention of a expansion pack, which I think will probably bring the game to how it was going to originally be.

The problem I am having is that I keep running into SPODE worshippers, and they are way too aggressive.

I have noticed that if you take out the cites on a alien empires homeworld, it makes them passive and much easier to deal with.

I still think the game is awesome, but just a little rushed. I have been waiting for this game for ages, and now that it is finally here, it does seem like they made the game overnight.

Me and a frien were making as many possible fruits/vegetables as we could...Yes we made a carrot mutant! XD
and they really looked like it! Problem is that you HAVE to give them a mouth and eyes before you can finish them.. the outcome pretty much...sickend me XD

Started with a new race, made them herbivours this time rather than omnivours. Doing much better in space age, I have 9 colonies, and I actually had time to develop them and do quests to earn money this time before I made war. Finally met the Spode, and I must admit although it was scary for a moment because out of knowwhere they suddenly seemed to own half the map, because I was given time to prepare I'm wiping the floor with them. I ACTUALly have more than 100,000 credits at any one time now!

I have not yet had the pleasure of purchasing this game (hope to by next month) but I have to say that after reading this thread I have been both laughing and excited! I can't wait....

I warn you, dont get your hopes built up because you will fall hard when you do play it. The best thing to do is not to expect anything super special when you purchase it.

I was going to buy this today actually, but an hour before going I came across an article in a Norwegian newspaper about securom and enraged Spore players.
So I got Assassins Creed instead

You get 3 activations, if you format your hard drive or change any significant part in your computer hardware, it will count as another activation, then when all 3 are up you have to contact EA and see if they will give you another one.

indeed zerg. So you basically RENT the game instead of buying it.
Of course you can activate it via EA, but what happens in the future? if for example EA closes it's business, you might never be able to play spore again.

That and the fact that some securom "features" can be detected as malware, and you can't uninstall it. It' possible to remove securom, but not without risks of killing your entire computer. (or format)

Which is utterly pointless really. It was cracked and released on the net a week before the official release date. DRM only punishes people who actually buy the game.
