A seven-year-old boy was kept chained in a closet as relatives hacked off pieces of his flesh to eat, a court has heard.

In a case with echoes of the Fritzl family horror in Austria, Ondrej Mauerova was partially skinned in the closet in a cellar at his home in Kurim near Brno, in the Czech Republic, according to reports.

The abuse – involving members of a religious cult – was uncovered by chance last May when a neighbour's television baby monitor picked up graphic pictures of what was happening next door.

Ondrej and his nine-year-old brother Jakub were locked and chained in the cellar for months by their mother Klara, 31 – a member of a group called the Grail Movement.

He was caged, beaten and gagged to stop him screaming, according to reports.

Mauerova had the monitor installed so that she could watch the abuse from her kitchen but the images were picked up by a neighbour who used an identical system to monitor a newborn baby, the regional court in Brno has heard.

Police were called and the two boys as well as what appeared to be a 13-year-old girl were freed.

Makes me think of the "there is no loving god" argument/debate I was having with danielost just days ago in which I used as an example the headline of the day which was about a woman who poured gasoline on her 5 sleeping children and set them on fire, the youngest being 16 months old. That one was shocking, right? It was one of many suitable examples of that days news, but this news just really takes the sadistic cake. frak.

In my system of justice, they should suffer equivalent torture of being scalded, beaten and then slowly fed alive to various animals limb by limb.

I am not afraid of death, but I have always had a problem with torture. Let's just say I've had a few really nasty premonitions (but none of cannibals)...having to do with serial killers. It's not the act of just killing someone, but the way in which you kill them...or decide to make the killing as looooooooooong as possible. Just thinking that this person was screaming out for help, and no one came to save them..and I know that could happen to me, and you are just watching yourself slowly die...except worse part is you are not dead yet...and instead of falling unconscious your body decides to fight and stay 'awake' even longer...I can't even explain that feeling it's so disgusting.

To think, what could be happening now at this very minute? It's just a matter of IF and WHEN we become aware.

I've read many a disturbing story in my day, but I don't quite know how to categorize this. This may actually be beyond my grasp. It's cruel and disgusting. The visuals I am getting are literally nauseating. My heart aches when I think about what that poor boy went through, and what he'll always have to go through. Those people are animals and predatory in the worst sense. Religion is not going to compel someone to eat another human like this. I'm really not sure what did, other than ill sadistic minds. Ritualistic postmortem cannibalism out of family respect is fine with me. It's funerary and loving. It can't and shouldn't be compared to most other forms of cannibalism.

There is also another group called The Grail as well who is in the United States. Their website is www.grailville.org. The Grail,also known as Women of Nazareth,was a Catholic lay organization founded in Holland in 1921 by jesuit priest,Jacques van Ginneken. The members are overwhelmingly women
and in recent years have invited non Catholic Christian women to join as well as jewish women too.

There really aren't words that do justice to the depravity of a woman who would eat the flesh of her own child. I'm heartbroken and nauseated. Those poor kids have been psychologically and physically traumatized so greatly, that I would doubt they could ever recover. How could you ever trust another living being if your own mother is willing to use you in that way? Simply horrifying.

What I would give to catch those b******* in the act. I would be charged with murder.......
