Salaam (Peace)

ALL the advancements of science, in every area, actually enhance my faith. I love physics, and studies in Cosmology. I can't imagine what it was like interpreting many parts of the Quran without the scientific knowledge of today. Allah (SWT) has blessed us with knowledge.

Yes, there are traces of sound science in all religious texts and traditions.

Even the fact that people fast was attributed to devotion to God - now we know that fasting is greatly beneficial for the body, it gives the body a chance to rest from breaking down food whilst it flushes out toxins. Fasting even increases life expectancy.

Do you really think that a God found out these facts, or perhaps an advanced intellegence from somewhere else in our galaxy perhaps? Either way, it's science and religion can co-exist.

In some respects the bible is more relevant now than ever before, for we see the Genesis writer somehow understood the concept of evolution for life begins in the sea, an epoch when dragons"dinosaurs) dominated the earth followed by an age of mammals and the appearance of man in the last stage. It proves there is a reality behind it despite what sceptics may say. Ironically, many Christian dismiss evolutin despite the proof of it in the Bible.

There's proof of evolution in the Bible? Certainly there are many creations and progressive creations eg. first the plants, then the fish, then the animals, then man etc. but is this really evolution?

I believe that evolution is a theory and a myth. What people call 'evolution' are really just progressive improvements on creations. For example, homo sapiens were created homo sapiens. However, the first human prototype was made, then certain improvements made, then another species of humans were made etc until they decided to create homo sapiens.

This explains the different 'types' of humans eg. neanderthal man etc.

Okay, I'm on the last page of the thread so I can't remember anyone's names or I'd have to go back but time for a little moderation:

Ozi: Great post. I am aware of religions other than just Christianity. Yes, I was brought up Christian so what I say would tend to be a little bias but I've researched about many other religions as well; given, most of these were mainstream and then some where things you wouldn't even believe.

daniellost: Will do.

pai mei: No idea how you got onto the concept you're on but originally you stated something about how we are not a bunch of chemical reactions. Now unless you were being sarcastic (which is hard to tell with printable type), actually being or saying "we" or thinking, when you think about it can be thought of as a reaction really. I mean you're reacting to your environment by responding to someone's post, which you've seen through your eyes carrying an electric signal to your brain. Your mind (not soul) processes it, comes up with what you will write, sends a reaction to your fingers and bam: post. I do get what you're trying to say, or not say (I only glanced so I'm not sure if I'm talking about something completely different) but yes, (Ozi this is for you too), there can be some sort of intelligent design behind all this that can all be stemmed from one little tick. What I mean to say is that perhaps everything we do, think, feel and say is simply generated from the environment we are presented with (Nature vs Nurture), as if we are literally all gears in a system; and to give the first gear a little tick; perhaps it was god. Now personally I really don't want anyone to think I'm talking about the god of a religion, but rather a god as an unknown variable so to say. Meaning, a god can only balance an equation that is life, not a god that can provide salvation or love or whatever, simply the answer to that unanswerable question: why?

By the way, I got side-tracked a lot there and I think I'm in a different topic completely, but basically I want to give the idea that if I were to believe in god, it would be as a scientific or mathematic value, not a personality-based titan that comes and has little relationships with humans; running around and getting into little shinanigans.
