user posted image rShawn Lindseth: In 1982 Benedetto Supino, an Italian adolescent boy, discovered something quite strange about himself. He was sitting in a dentist's waiting-room reading a comic book when all of the sudden the thing burst into flames right there in his hands. At the time, no doubt, he claimed total innocence to deaf ears. Once a fiery pattern was established after a few more incidents, his surrounding adults may have been more likely to believe him - especially when they actually saw him accidentally ignite things without a match in sight. As we already said, Benedetto Supino discovered his strange powers at a young age - around 10 -when a dentist's comic book flamed-up in his hands. Although there were instances of the boy starting a flame with sufficient intention and concentration, it seems that usually neither was the case. Paranormal.About.com gives an example of the latter happening: "One morning [Supino] was awakened by a fire in his own bed – his pajamas were in flames and the boy suffered severe burns." Doesn't sound like a terrific gift there, does it? The same article goes on to give other instances of flames starting by his intention, or merely by his presence: "On another occasion, a small plastic object held in his uncle’s hands began to burn as Benedetto stared at it.

Just about everywhere he went, furniture, paper, books and other items would start to smolder or burn. Some witnesses even claimed to see his hands glow at these moments."

This kinda sounds like the movie Firestarter (I used to love the movie btw) only she could only really start fires or throw fireballs (out of her eyes) when she got angry. I remember trying to do that when I was a kid, after seeing that movie, when I got mad, never worked though laugh.gif . From how the story goes though (in the movie) was that her parent's trying to make some quick cash let the government or medical company do tests on them with this new improved medicine. They later had a kid that was the little girl (Charlie, I think was her name in the movie), soon they found out they had powers with spitting fireballs through their eyes but they weren't as powerful as their daughter was. The mother died and the government or medical company found out what they could do and came after them.

Sure i'll believe it when i see some known scientists authenticate it on film and then show it on national tv.

It's nice and convenient how the story ends there. Nothing about what happened to this person, what about when he grew up? Surely if he was still doing it he would've gained media attention. Or did he set himself on fire and kill himself accidently?

Stories like this never have any information like that. Just sounds like a stupid rumour made up by someone, churned through the process of chinese whispers and here we are with a ridiculously far-fetched story.

"Chinese whispers"? I had to look that one up. In my day, we called it the Gossip game.

Hard to believe, also why did his hands glow if he lights things up with his eyes? sounds more like a publicity stunt.

ps. the movie was good though tongue.gif

I was curious to see if there were other articles or information about this person, so I checked Wikipedia - nothing.

Then I did a general search on Blingo - and this site (UM); paranormal.about.com (which was referenced in the article; and which took their information from a book called "The World's Most Incredible Stories"); and a site called sfgate.com were the only ones listed (besides the site where this article was from).

They look like they all have about the same information, so they may have all referenced each other, with no real new or different information between them. hmm.gif

It looks like the only place where the information originated from, and where you could probably get more to the story, is the book mentioned above. If anyone can find anything else, let us know! thumbsup.gif

Reminds me of Magneto for some reason.

As far as "where did he go?" I'm sure he's working for some secret agency now with Hellboy and Abe. Perhaps he had a sex change and goes by the name Elizabeth.
