Habbo Hotel will be beat WoW in terms of membership soon.

Just because a game is popular doesn't make it good.

Theres a trend for MMOs. The population spikes upon release which lasts a few months until it balances out. This happens because players will try out a new MMO but go back to their old ones(because they either don't like the new game or have too much invested in their old one) and/or move on to the next MMO release.

Nothing lasts forever however, remember that Everquest used to own the MMO scene before WoW and Ultima before them. I for one always wondered how a Pokemon MMO would do.

WoW has banked on the Warcraft franchise, and had a huge following prior to the release of World of Warcraft, and WoW's release was buggy as hell, but people still dove into it, because of the Warcraft franchise, and because of Blizzard. The only "WoW killer" is going to be Blizzard itself. Creating a new MMO, or a WoW2.

WoW is easy, it's simple so anyone can play, it has low system requirements, it's solo friendly (not counting the end game) it's built on a successful RTS, it's piggy backing off of Blizzards already admirable reputation. None of the 'next gen' (this time around) MMO's are going to topple the 9-10 million accounts WoW has.

But I have to say, out of the many MMO's I've played, WoW's community is flat lined the worst I have ever subjected myself to. I'd much rather impale myself on a sharp instrument than have to deal with that community ever again.

Many MMO's, (EQII, WoW, SWG, CoH/V, etc) has patches, expansions, that constantly add new content in. Some for pay, some for free.

I never really thought of it that way, but how are they going to make a new RTS Warcraft game after killing most of the villains for raid material in WoW? They really do have the MMO market by the balls right now.

I haven't played any other MMOs, but if the raiders in those are ANYTHING like the snobby elitist raiders in wow I don't want to.

Warhammer and AoC will no way in hell overcome World of Warcraft.

I went to transfer my character and messed around with the realms. And there a private test realms for 3 more expansions after Wrath of the Lich King.

The first was Emerald Dream then Maelstrom then something else I cannot remember.

But anyways, WoW is not going anywhere.
