wub.gif A 12-year-old panda, evacuated from the earthquake-stricken Wolong panda research centre in China's Sichuan province, has given birth to two cubs.

The cubs were the first pandas to be born in 2008.

The first baby, born on Sunday morning, was taken away by staff members for measurements and other tests. The baby was said to weigh 170grams.

The second baby was born around 30 minutes later and was carried around by Guo Guo in her mouth.

The happy occasion took place in Ya'an, Sichuan province, where Guo Guo was transferred from the quake-stricken Wolong panda reserve.

That is great news for the panda's. IT is rather sad for them as a species they have libido issues though. I blame the bamboo.

great news. lets hope they both survive, but what are peoples thoughts on Pandas, i mean, they're a species that should really be extinct within 10 years, i was watching a wildlife programme about pandas and they weren't breeding too good naturally in the wild and wasnt breeding well in captivity, so man steps in with artificial insemination to keep or increase the population, but should we really be letting the Panda die out, after all mother nature must have decided their time is up,

i think we should save them, but is it right?

I think it's right to help and protect all endangered species, otherwise they're never to be seen again except in books etc., what a waste mellow.gif

i think its down to both Humans and the Pandas, the male pandas have lost their mojo. cant blame humans for that, ohmy.gif and bamboo has their main diet doesnt help, they need to change their diet to a food that gives them some va-va-voom
