Queen Elizabeth I Against the Spanish Armada

Let tyrants fear;
I have always so behaved
myself that,
under God, I have placed
my chiefest strength and safeguard
in the loyal hearts and good will
of my subjects.

And therefore I am come
amongst you
at this time, not as for
my recreation or sport,
but being resolved,
in the midst and heat of the battle,
to live or die amongst you all;
to lay down, for my God,
and for my kingdom,
and for my people,
my honor and my blood,
even the dust.

I know I have but the body
of a weak and feeble woman;
but I have the heart of a king,
and of a king of England, too;
and think foul scorn
that Parma
or Spain,
or any prince
of Europe,
should dare
to invade the borders
of my realms:
to which, rather than any dishonor should grow by me,
I myself will take up arms;
I myself will be your general,
judge,
and rewarder
of every one of your virtues in the field.

I know already, by your forwardness,
that you have deserved rewards and crowns;

Thank you Crimson. Here is another found poem on an issue that strikes me deeply: The Bosnian War of the '90s.

Ethnic Cleansing

on May 9, 1992
in Podravska Slatina,
members of the
Croatian National Guard
threatened
the local Orthodox priest
during the burial ceremony by saying:
"Sing, sing, you won't for long".

Murdered ethnic Serbs are, as a rule,
buried by Croatian authorities
without the presence of any relatives
and in unmarked graves.

The bells
of even the small number of remaining Orthodox churches
are now completely dumb.

Depression

Most people have
felt sad
or depressed at times.

Feeling depressed
can be a normal reaction
to loss,
life's struggles,
or an injured self-esteem.

But when feelings
of intense sadness
-- including feeling helpless,
hopeless,
and worthless --
last for days
to weeks
and keep you from functioning
normally,
your depression
may be something more than sadness.

Think this is what you want. This particular "poem" is from a movie that might also be in the the same series of books in the "Reptile Room".

I can't be sure it's in Book 2 since I haven't read it for a while and I no longer have the book in my house for some reason(hmmm).

When I heard this in the movie I remember nodding in agreement.

Death of a Loved One

It's a curious thing,
the death of a loved one.
It's like walking up the stairs
to your bedroom in the dark,
and thinking there is one more stair
than there is. Your foot falls down
Through the air,
And there's a sickly moment
of dark surprise.

The children's grief wasn't only
for their uncle. But for that tender hope
that they might have found home again.

Forgive me, C. Lyrics being poetry to the soul may I...

.A Three Piece. Diturbed - Criminal, 10,000 Fists, Dropping Plates, Want.

You said it couldn't be done,
Told me that it's the kind of battle,
That just couldn't be won, you know.
You're too sick, too hard, too f'ed in the head,
You'll never make it no, not in this lifetime.
Well guess again my friend.
Don't act suprised,
We got the bass drum kick,
That will blow out your eyes, huh.
Cause when you hear this !@#$,
You'll get to steppin',
Gonna fight the war,
And use my music as a weapon.

In a world that I dont want to know
With a message that I never want to send
To be free from all of this
I want you to quicken my end
Don't tell me I can not go
With a wound that refuses to mend
Deliver me from all of this
I want you to quicken my end

We are the ones that will open your mind
Leave the weak and the haunted behind.

Savor the addiction, savor the affliction
Savore me
