One of my mothers friends cat had snuck into a delivery man's van and got out on the next location, the distancce between both were quite a bit. However, after 2-3 weeks of searching and posters, the cat was standing on the backstep of the house. The delivery man came back 6 month later on his next delivery to the house and recognised the cat. So the real question here is, how did the cat find its way back home when it was in a van with no idea where it was going or where it got out?

Cats are unbelievable! And I’m so glad to hear this one found way home.
They have some really amazing abilities – my cats know when I’m coming home, sometimes they act like they can read my mind. And it nearly broke my heart when one of my cat friends sensed somehow he’s about to die. He was especially affectionate, spent hours glued to me and next day he was gone. I still miss him.

They have magnetite in their brains. It it basically is a compass except you can remember places and how your magnetite feels at certain places and you eventually find your way back. Humans supposedly have it to, the pineal gland, it is a magneto sensitive gland same as the magnetite in animals. Except we don't really know how to use it.

Animals continue to use their instincts. Humans hardly ever use them. We have evolved our logical mind and lost touch with our senses.

A better question would be, why do we find a story like this unusual?

Dogs can do this too. It is pretty neat.

Cats are amazing animals ^^ One of my favourites. What truly amazes me is all the stories about cats who have been left behind when their owner moves, and then they find their owner in the new location, sometimes going hundreds of miles to do so. They're smart and more devoted to humans -- or perhaps the feeding hand -- than people give them credit for.
