As Chris said, right wing fundie nutball christian B/S. Child abuse is child abuse, not ANYTHING connected with ANY cult apart from groups of people who are into child abuse..... they are not Satanic anything, they don't have a pseudo-religious thought in whatever passes for their brain.

The fundie Christians mostly know this of course, but if they can kill two birds with one stone, use the true horror felt about child abuse to tar and feather the misguided muppets that have read (And swallowed) La Veys egotistic guff.

I've seen this crud before, they start on one small group, then move out too others that their blinkered (Atrophied) fundie mind-set disagrees with, which is basicaly ANYONE who thinks for themselves. First its anyone using the lable Satanist, then witch, then Pagan... and on... Spiritualist, Mormon, Muslim, etc.

They would spend their time more productivly following up where all these Christian priests that have been covered up for abusing kids have disappeared off to!

I think that we have to be careful not to go to either extreme and label any religion in a general manner .
Side note , has anybody heard of the Bretheren church ? Because I had not untill recently, and I must say what I've heard sounds more than a little odd . I would appreciate it if someone could tell me more about them .

It isn't the adherents of any religion that are usualy a problem to anyone else, only the fundies..... Fundementalism isn't exclusivly a christian phenominon... unfortunatly. Most problems occur when fundies of any kind attain positions of power.

It doesn't usualy amount to a 'conspiricy' in the manner I would expect normaly assocciated with this forum, but it is an abuse of power by like minded individuals.

and this is the reason I mentioned the Bretheren .
A friend of mine has recently taken up a Math teaching job at the Bretheren school and has been asked to sign a contract agreeing to discourage students from entering into tertiary education . And that is only the skin off the top of what I've heard about this particular Church , but what do you know I'm bordering on generalising myself ..

I've only heard of them and from what I can tell, in just as little detail as you have. But what I did hear has marked simerlaritys with London church of Christ.... apparently the same MO.

I've seen what can happen with a (supposedly ) fully grown adult in that situation. They cut him off from his friends, basicaly took over his social life so they WHERE his social life, so they could dictate who he was able to discuss things with. Cut off access to any ideology but their own....

Luckaly he had enough life experience that he did eventualy re-assert himself... after quite a struggle and 4 years of being in their control, but he did start thinking for himself again. (I still think he is an idiot for letting himself get drawn into that situation in the first place!)

The 'scary' part about groups like the brethren, is the whole school thing. Indoctrinating kids before they get any life experience so the only way they know how to think is the way the group wants them to think. (Hence not wanting them to go off to collage or university where they might be exposed to other mind-sets and actualy start to think for themselves.

Groups of that Ilk I find hard to apply the lable 'religious' too.... because the base line isn't about Theology at all, that is simply a tool used to achieve the true objective..... power and control over others.

Very true , the main reason , well the reason the Bretheren give for discouraging tertiary studies is because so many members of the Church have familly buisness's they would like to see kept in the familly . That in itself is a form of comunal control wouldn't you agree.

I first heard of them a few months ago when a friend of mine was woken in the middle of the night by an old friend who was looking for some place to hide out . He was trying to get away from the Bretheren .

that's exactly what happened . Also he showed her the Church a few days later , which she claimed looked just like a warehouse . No markings of any kind to show it was a Church .
And the Teachers at the school are not allowed to attend mass . As I said it's all very odd ..
