I am currently reading river of blue fire by Tad williams which is the second book in the OTHERLAND series. I finished the first ages ago but I couldn`t find this one so I `ve had to wait months to find out what happens next but I read many others in the mean time. All of the Dune books and the prequels and a couple of stephen Kings books and many many more.
I read way tooo much, but I love it!!!!!

I just finished The Hobbit...it was ok, but didnt compare to LOTR. The adventures are a bit repetative, in that they keep stupidly getting in trouble, the Hobbit is either left behind or uses his ring to escape, and then he rescues the dwarves, who are appreciative for about five minutes, then it happens all over again. once they actually get to the mountain its pretty good. I wont ruin it any more, for anyone who hasnt read it yet.
Also, it is titled there and back again, but the whole book is about the journey 'there', with like half a chapter about coming back again. How rude.
Now im reading George Orwell's 1984...so far im not liking it, but im not very far into it. i'll let y'all know what i think when im done.

I have to read
Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen. It's really interesting. I'm not HUGE on historical reads, and it is going a bit slow because I'd rather visit with my mother than do my history homework for next year. . . . But it covers the historical omittions/lies that textbooks used in middle school/high school/college have, and thus the incorrect information that has been engraved into our brains about US history. It really hits on racial issues such as the misrepresentation of blacks and Native Americans, and the heroification of (mainly white) US historical figures by wiping them clean of faults.
Later I plan to read
Beloved by Toni Morrison and
The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. (Not to mention the other three books I have waiting for me back in California.)
Yay for school imposed summer reading.

I'm re-readed Meg by Steve Alten. Its not the best writen book in the world, in fact the grammar is insanely basic. But its enjoyable.
I'm off work next week so during that time I intend to re-read the Hobbot and re-read DragonLance Chronicles Vol 1-3. ALL insanely good books!

I'm reading The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice at the moment, never read them before, they're pretty good. I am sadly between books because I am supposed to be studying for exams, but... there are two books that I always reccomend...
A Fine Balance, by Rohinton Mistry - a little thick, which some people find intimidating, but a page-turner. This book will lift you to new heights and plummet you to new depths. If you are interested at all in the debate about whether or not we are destined to live certain lives, this book is food for thought.
The Passion, by Jeanette Winterson - a writer who fascinates me endlessly - the stories she writes are beautiful, full of imagination, and incredibly intelligent. I did this book for an English Lit class in university, and you can spend an hour analyzing even one paragraph in this book. Also, try Oranges are not the Only Fruit, and Written on the Body.

I just finished reading George Orwell's 1984, and personally i thought it was awful. Long stretches of it were boring (i know its focus is on the state of the society, not on an entertaining plot, but i cant help it, i need a little action). It was kind of frightening, but thankfully, in my opinion, the way of existance described in that book will never happen, and the idea that it could have happened by 1984 is very far-fetched. I really dont think its worth reading, but thats just my opinion.
Now im reading HP and the sorcerers stone. Its rather pointless because i saw the movie, but o well, im readin it.
