Right now I'm reading A Box of Unfortunate Events: The Trouble Begins (Books 1-3: The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window) by Lemony Snicket

The Potion Master's Daughter by OrphenEritus

Three Gryffindors and a Baby by Celeste

Yeah, it's Harry Potter fanfiction... tongue.gif
Ancient World Wonders
Spider-Man 2 the novel. Better than the movie by far.

I am currently reading river of blue fire by Tad williams which is the second book in the OTHERLAND series. I finished the first ages ago but I couldn`t find this one so I `ve had to wait months to find out what happens next but I read many others in the mean time. All of the Dune books and the prequels and a couple of stephen Kings books and many many more.

I read way tooo much, but I love it!!!!! thumbsup.gif
The Cheat
I just finished The Hobbit...it was ok, but didnt compare to LOTR. The adventures are a bit repetative, in that they keep stupidly getting in trouble, the Hobbit is either left behind or uses his ring to escape, and then he rescues the dwarves, who are appreciative for about five minutes, then it happens all over again. once they actually get to the mountain its pretty good. I wont ruin it any more, for anyone who hasnt read it yet.

Also, it is titled there and back again, but the whole book is about the journey 'there', with like half a chapter about coming back again. How rude.

Now im reading George Orwell's 1984...so far im not liking it, but im not very far into it. i'll let y'all know what i think when im done.

I have to read Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen. It's really interesting. I'm not HUGE on historical reads, and it is going a bit slow because I'd rather visit with my mother than do my history homework for next year. . . . But it covers the historical omittions/lies that textbooks used in middle school/high school/college have, and thus the incorrect information that has been engraved into our brains about US history. It really hits on racial issues such as the misrepresentation of blacks and Native Americans, and the heroification of (mainly white) US historical figures by wiping them clean of faults.

Later I plan to read Beloved by Toni Morrison and The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. (Not to mention the other three books I have waiting for me back in California.)

Yay for school imposed summer reading. disgust.gif
jpalz
Right now I'm reading The Two Towers, and before that I read the DaVinci Code
Venomshocker
Conversations with God - Book 2

Potentially the best book Ive ever read....besides book 1;)

Much recommended to everyone. original.gif

I'm re-readed Meg by Steve Alten. Its not the best writen book in the world, in fact the grammar is insanely basic. But its enjoyable.

I'm off work next week so during that time I intend to re-read the Hobbot and re-read DragonLance Chronicles Vol 1-3. ALL insanely good books!
Nordic_Dragon
nice siggy you have their Talon S! (the bottom pic)

A Natural History of the Unnatural World: Selected Files from the Archives of the Cryptozoological Society of London by Joel Levy

Not bad... I guess. The illustrations are good. The info, on the other hand, is... questionable. blink.gif

Still entertaining. grin2.gif
kreestar
I'm reading the Two Towers, I really should have read it before I saw the movie but I didn't. It is quite possibly the best book I've ever read.
Daughter of the Nine Moons
Deadly Innocence- The True Story Of Paul Bernardo, Karla Homolka andt the Schoolgirl Murders - by Scott Burnside & Alaan Cairns
Althalus
I'm reading Arthur by Stephen Lawhead at the moment.
Kellalor
Annihilation (Forgotten Realms: War of the Spider Queen Book 5) by Philip Athans

It's alright. Not as good as the other books, though. Just seems weak on dialouge compared to the others. sad.gif

Write more! And then, for once, I can say to my friends "Read this!" Instead of them saying to me "Read this, this, this aaand this! Oh and this one is really good too!"

Hehe.

Do you have any favourite fics or authors?

Um ok I feel I should be contributing books but I'm not reading any because I don't have any *sniff*

Killer gorilla's defending some ancient temple in the congo, and some scientists just have to sign up to go searching for it. I think parts were quite scary though huh.gif much better than the movie... which sucked.

I started that last year, but something came up and I stopped with three chapters to the end... darn. sad.gif
Catrat
I'm reading The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice at the moment, never read them before, they're pretty good. I really shouldn't be though as my stupid school has this 'reading log' and you have to read books from the 'reading list' so I really should be reading Bonfires in the Rain by Lauris Edmond... rolleyes.gif

I am sadly between books because I am supposed to be studying for exams, but... there are two books that I always reccomend...

A Fine Balance, by Rohinton Mistry - a little thick, which some people find intimidating, but a page-turner. This book will lift you to new heights and plummet you to new depths. If you are interested at all in the debate about whether or not we are destined to live certain lives, this book is food for thought.

The Passion, by Jeanette Winterson - a writer who fascinates me endlessly - the stories she writes are beautiful, full of imagination, and incredibly intelligent. I did this book for an English Lit class in university, and you can spend an hour analyzing even one paragraph in this book. Also, try Oranges are not the Only Fruit, and Written on the Body.

Just got done reading this months issue of XXL MAG if you don't know what that is it's a rap music magazine.
The Nameless One

Well, I just finished re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. grin2.gif

Now I'm reading Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

Thoroughly entertaining so far. thumbsup.gif

I've been reading a lot of 'children's' books lately. Always fun. happy.gif

I just finished reading George Orwell's 1984, and personally i thought it was awful. Long stretches of it were boring (i know its focus is on the state of the society, not on an entertaining plot, but i cant help it, i need a little action). It was kind of frightening, but thankfully, in my opinion, the way of existance described in that book will never happen, and the idea that it could have happened by 1984 is very far-fetched. I really dont think its worth reading, but thats just my opinion.

Now im reading HP and the sorcerers stone. Its rather pointless because i saw the movie, but o well, im readin it.
Potholer
I just started reading Dune by Frank Herbert today.

Really good so far though so incredibly complicated. Herbert has created a whole world, with languages, complex histories, complex plots, complex characters. I'm worried it's going to totally leave me behind with a huh.gif look on my face. tongue.gif.
Asterix
"Treasure Island" R.L Stevenson grin2.gif

For the...hmm...33th time maybe? lol

Daughter of the Nine Moons
The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty A.N. Roquelaure
snuffypuffer
On the Road, by Jack Kerouac. It's cool, and moves pretty fast. I like the idea of a guy just making his way west for no good reason other than to do it.

Plus, I likes me some Beatniks.

Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce abduct.gif

Started another - Poul Anderson's There will be Time.

Brill time travelling book. The main character, John, was born with the ability to time travel. It's absolutely ingenious how the whole time travelling thing works. It''s great grin2.gif
