I`m currently reading 'Learning the World' by Ken Macleod. It's a sci-fi novel dealing with first contact with another intelligent yet less advanced race. However the majority of the novel is based on the experience of the alien's, which is quite different and rather refreshing.

Currently re-reading "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" by Alsion Weir.
It is a REALLY good book.
I can't wait to buy "The Virgin's Lover" by Philippa Gregory.
Her new one "The Other Queen" which is about Mary Queen of Scots during her long imprisonment in England. She lived with Bess of Hardwick and her husband the Earl of Shrewsbury. Philippa tells Mary's story from a new perspective and reveals much about the England of Elizabeth.
I also would like to get "Jane Boleyn: The True Story of The Infamous Lady Rochford." (Lady Rochford's testimony sent Anne Boleyn and her husband, George Boleyn to their deaths. It is still controversial as to if she did this on purpose, or was her testimony just twisted around?)

I was reading Tolkien's "The children of Hurin". But, the first few chapters didn't really capture me, so I gave it for a 'bored-read'.
But, I received Manda Scott's 'Boudica', Manda Scott's 'The Crystal Skull', Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere' and David Gemmell's 'Wolf in Shadow'.
Choices choices.

Not to be annoying but it would be nice if you guys would write down a bit more about what the book you are reading is about?
that way this forum would be a great source for new books to read!

Just finished reading "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman. It's been addressed a couple of times on this thread according to the search, but I must say it was a most awesome book. One or two minor dissappointments (don't worry, no spoilers for those who haven't read it yet), but when it comes to novels, I'm an admittedly harsh critic. My brother and his fiancee both swear "best book ever". I gave it a 9.5/10. An absolute great book all round.

I started this book, but then started reading another book - as is my usual self

- but I did buy it on the reviews of others, all of high esteem. I'll get round to reading it soon

.
I've just finished David Gemmall's 'Wolf in Shadow'. It's about a world tipped on its axis, set 300 years later, so civilisation as we know it is gone. It's a hero-fantasy novel. The main character is a lone rider seeking the fabled Jerusalem, he's a man of the bible and made finding the fabled city his life's goal. However, he's often drawn into small battles with groups of brigands, and while killing them to help small town's, he's always shoved along due to simple fear of him. He's then brought into a war between himself and a kingdom of a people who follow satan, who call themselves the Hellborn.
It's a great novel, even though it sounds like it, it isn't an overly religious book. Great read if you liked Mad Max, although entirely different, it always kind of reminded me of the apocolyptic world of Mad Max.
Amazon ReviewRight now I'm reading ShadowFall by James Clemens. Despite having second thoughts reading the book; Chapter two involves a rape scene. So I was unsure whether I actually wanted to continue reading. But I did and it's a fantastic book so far.
Shadowfall, so far, is about an ex-shadowknight/ex-slave who's crippled, witnessing a goddess being murdered and being branded a god slayer.
