The "Boy in the Box" case attracted both local and national media attention when the story broke in February, 1957, and police initially assumed that the identity of the unknown boy would be determined very quickly. Hundreds of thousands of posters bearing the slain boy's image and physical description were prominently displayed throughout the Philadelphia area. They were also distributed to thousands of police departments around the country. The detectives working the case in 1957 even dressed the body in typical children's clothing and posed it in a sitting position in the hope that this "lifelike" image of the boy might cause someone to recognize him and come forward.

Very interesting, bizarre and sad story.

Very, very sad story. It breaks my heart when I read this kind of abuse on children. I may have missed it, but was this little guy ever given a proper burial? I also read the "Boy in the Bag"...another mother who gave birth and stopped there with any love. Fortunately this little guy had a guardian angel in Mary. What a kind, warm hearted lady to have done what she did. wub.gif

It's sad to think that after all this time the little boy is still unknown. There's got to be someone over the years who must have recognised him surely, for a start, what about his mother? No-one has even reported him missing, he must have lived with someone, sounds to me like people just don't want to come forward for some reason.

I'd guess that whoever knows the identity of this little fella is also whoever killed him. I doubt they will ever come forward--what a shame. It makes me so sad to hear of this sortof thing. Anything to do with harming children just irritates me. I will say prayers for the little guy.

Wild stuff.

You would think by now that someone would have stepped up with something, most all leads came up empty.
