Ok this is what happened. It was a normal summer day I was about 11 at the time(four years ago) me and my friends decided to go bike riding down the street so we did. After bike riding we got bored so we decided to go down this path a little bit. We were like ten feet away from the road and we heard some grunting further in the woods. We didnt think much of it at the time(which we would soon regret). So after a while we got back on the road then we heard something big in the bushes so we looked over their. We were getting scared then so we got on our bikes. Then we just heard something roar really loud like a lion or something. We were scared out of are minds. I was the first one on my bike to get out of there my friends took off once they saw it. They caught up to me fast it scared them so bad. We were so scared we were laughing. Later we came back with some knives(cause my dad wouldnt let me take my 22 rifle). We didnt see anything but a tree snapped almost in half. We were like whoa that wasnt their before. Later we put a tape recoder under some leaves so we could see if we hear it again. We heard a little bit of grunting but that could have been anything. About 2 weeks later someone or something broke into a house next to it but nothing was stolen just the door was broken into. What do you think of this story? It kind of reminds me off "Hunting Trip" Story.

Might have been a bear, as is the popular opinion nowadays.

I thought of Bear and bigfoot. My friend said it was tall and jet black(it could have been a bear standing up). But I live in TN and bear sightings arent very frequent.

Would you mind telling us where this happened so we can get a bit of info on the animals which live it that area? And do you remember how thick the tree that was snaped in half was?

I cant tell you exactly how big it was but it was to thick for a human to break.(It was kinda small though). Clarksville, TN.

kinda small, but too thick eh? I bet a bear could snap it just by rubbing its back against it.

I agree, sounds like a bear. You said a house nearby was broken into as well. Perhaps the bear was so far out of place because it was looking for food.

I would have to say it's a bear. Although a giant would be great too

It's posts like this that make me wonder why I keep coming here looking for serious and intelligent conversation about paranormal or at least abnormal happenings.

The easy answer to your own post is...
quit coming here. Why would you dig up an old post like this, the guy was 11 when it happened and now would be around 19! It was a vague post to begin with, why bring it back up and waste not only your own time, but everybody else's reading it again?

Maybe it was ManBearPig.

You know: half man, half bear, and half pig.
I bet it was a bear. I know sightings may be few, but a lot of mammals have been moving into formerly familiar or even unfamiliar territory as of late. A cougar was hit by a car here in KCMO. It wandered into a family friend's suburban backyard. The poor thing had to be shot. I think this happened last year.

Werewolves are said to be bipedal, though.
Yorgmiester, we want to believe. Lol! Nah. I don't believe they exist. I'm sure some people do, though.

I personally doubt that werewolves exist, in the sense of human beings able to shape-shift into canine form. What would be the mechanism to permit this?
But "spectral" wolves, bi-pedal wolves, wolves approaching human intelligence, wolf-like beasts able to "hide out" amongst more normal "dog" populations? Those may be other matters entirely.

On the other hand since the discovery of DNA there may be at least a hint of a mechanism to explain how one species could "shift" into another. Humans share approximately 90 percent (or even more) of their genes with most of the higher mammals.

Thank god your father has some sense for two reasons:
1- Letting someone scared by a noise in the woods go back to investigate with a gun is asking for trouble
2- Even if you ran into a wounded bear, a 22 would just make it angrier.

You probably just didn't notice it. Trees break and fall down all the time.

This is similar to a story floating around the neighborhood, scaly creature lives in the woods, that it lives in the bamboo that grows along the river.
I heard that some kids were chased out from the river by a large monster, jumping down from the bamboo. I went down their nearing twilight, I took my bow and 5 arrows (partly to hunt rabbits, partly to protect myself (even though I did not want to admit it) ) So I see a large amount of thick fresh bamboo trees that had been cracked and split apart, it was lane into a kind of lean-to-ish nest. I saw a deer spine, I quickly got a rabbit, and raced home hearing something following me.
(If you are curious, I live in NC, anything grows their)
