Im trying to get broadband and i check if i could get cable or adsl but i was unable to get it cause theres no cable network in my area and the phone company use the peg system(ithink that what they said) on the cabling so i cant get adsl (i dunno if it is possible to change the system on the cabling im sure theres a few phone expert)
so my last option is satellite. I cant find any good satellite company they all seem expensive so far i know telstra does satellite but its too expensive so i gotta find another company i tried optus all they did just direct me to some place else eg.i asked how much is satellite the just direct me to dialup tech support and called i again they then directed me to the management so i given up on this company.Does anyone know any good reliable satellite internet company that is affordable?

btw-how fast can satellite internet can go?

here ya go...

list of australian isp's

go to search and type in satellite

The service price varies about $70(US) p.m.
The equipment is the killer about $700 (US) inc. installation
In theory satellite provides upto 8mbs speed wise.

Look at the equipment option:
>Some allow you to use an existing phone line
>Some allow you you to upgrade existing sattelite equipment
>Some give DIY kits

ISDN is not an option to me its still too slow its basically a doubled speed of dial up. grin2.gif

So far there is a scale of satellite broadband speed but in theory its unlimited.

You know theyre only gonna put a scale out to cost us more money when it becomes wide spread.

How fast do you want to go?

Wireless broadband maybe another option, 1mbps down and upstream and it's generally cheaper than satellite LOS is the only problem, but even with poor LOS you still usually get a descent signal.

If you want to host websites or use p2p satellite only supports 56k upstream if any. Also latency is a problem making real-time audio and video communication a problem. Satellite does not guarantee download speeds either.

I have more or less the same problem as Fulltimekiller, although broadband is enabled in my area, BT consistantly tell me my line is unable to support it, and there is no cable here either. ISDN is not worth the cost, or the effort, and satellite Broadband is very expensive, has ridiculous bandwidth limits and you can't upload with it. In short i'm completely unable to upgrade my internet connection further than a 56k modem, which makes trying to download/upload files to and from the site a long winded and time consuming process.

The only other alternative is wireless broadband, which won't be available in my area for years. If the noise allowance for broadband is increased in the UK to the level it is in America, I would be able to get it through the phone lines, but there is at present no sign of that happening.

It's all highly frustrating to say the least. dontgetit.gif

I cant get wireless internet in my area yet there so far only available in the big city. I dont think i will be seeing wireless internet in my area for years all the isp are adopting adsl. Adsl are really cheap right now but only if they did the cabling right then i could get it. sad.gif Plus i think having a satellite is better than having dial up you got the plan bill plus those cost when you dial to the internet is like making a phone call. If whoever didn't invent dialup everyone would have broadband right now. grin2.gif

i think i might try calling up optus again there price start from $62AUS but its say its for buisness but my friend manage to get it and his a residential customer and its suppose to be for buisness.

Satellite will be faster, but try to get a free dial-up connection incase there's any down time. I'm not sure how business accounts work there over here thay check if your VAT registered just make sure they dont stiff you for business support.
