we have metorites here on earth and mars does have a very weak atmosphere, hence the educated guess is that it is that.

To be fair, it's most likely going to be a dragon, or atleast a griffon.....actually on second thought its probably a ghost.

It looks like a meterorite burning up when it enters an atmosphere.

As with all the mysterious pictures from Mars, my heart says aliens, but my head says mundane explanation.

But, considering that the only witness was the Mars explorer vehicle, who can say for certain what the streak was?

Dude, that's a cool pic. The objects look to be about the same length given their distance from each other and look to be similar in dimension.
