This is very interesting. Some divers caught on film, what appears to be a prehistoric shark which was thought to be extinct for almost 6,000,000 years. Check it out and see for yourself.

Cool! Thanks for posting that Gunsmoke.

Of course, they find a rare, living, prehistoric shark and they end up killing it. Typical.

It has been known about for ages and has not at all thought to have been extinct for 6000000 years. Where did you get that information. I have known it existed for over 20 years.
Keoshin
They said in the video it was known to exist. It just hadn't been filmed. (and rarely seen alive)
Otterclaw
Hmph. I too, have known about the shark for a very long time. But I repeatedly hear about it being an ancient prehistoric creature. (Probably the reason why I've heard about it so much!)

And how could it be six million years old unless it was previously thought to be extinct? I don't understand why that persistently keeps cropping up.
Slave2Fate
That was a cool looking shark, almost like an eel. grin2.gif

I can tell you why it still exists, no dorsal fin=no shark fin soup.
Otterclaw
It certainly does look like an eel that is wearing a mega-mouth shark's head.

Lol, well little dorsal fin, it does have a huge anal fin though.

I live in Japan I'm suprised they didn't eat it. I take that back, I bet someone did have a taste of it to see if it was any good. They eat anything that comes out of the ocean here.

Another "dupe" thread. This was posted ages ago.

Sharks fin soup is ridiculous anyway. It is chicken soup with tastless noodle made of the sharks fin. Shark finning should be banned anyway.

If I remember correctly this was a female that was in bad shape anyway. That's why she was swimming with her mouth gaping open, just kind of drifting along. Much like oarfish, they only come to the surface when they're dying.

It's a good thing we don't all believe what we hear on tv, or else the crypto thread would be packed with so much spam.

They are making fake shark fins out of pork now.

How can that possibly even considered fake? That would be pork, and furthermore, pigs don't even have fins. Why call it "fake shark fins" why not call it "pork"?

Wow. That sounded stupid.

Its like a vegetarian burger, or a vegetarian hotdog. Why not call them soy patties, or soy tubes.

Its just to make people realize that its a substitute for the real product.

Yes. That would be called frustration at another problem I am having at home which I decided to take out on fake shark fin soup.

I guess I was thinking it would be sort of like making an apple pie and then realizing that there are people who are allergic to apples. So - voila! You create a strawberry pie and call it the fake-apple pie. Why not just call it a strawberry pie?

...they tried to keep it alive but ended up dying of natural causes. it was sick and swimming near the surface when they found it.

That thing had some crazy looking teeth. A really cool video and shark too. Thanks for posting.
