Well, I've always been fascinated how your brain gets the subject material for your hallucinations at night and what happens in sleep paralisis? I mean after enough research I've realized all the stuff that happens in SP is most likely non paranormal just your sub-conscious reaction..same with hallucinations. But sometimes I feel I must contradict that idea. When I wake up sometimes I have once seen an innocent little girl sitting staring me straight in the eye. Then just last night I looked back at the staircase and I saw the outline of a body in a glowing what color walk up my stairs..even though he was invisible i could see the outline and his shadow. And all the fears that come out in SP. Where do they come from. How can my brain process all that. Do they have meanings or what? ph34r.gif

I still think that ghost=imgination theory is not conclusive at all. The theory is based on the fact that one part of the brain was active when paranormal things were taking place. However when I see (with my physical eyes), part of my brain that control optics become active, when I listen to something, part of my brain that control hearing become active, etc etc. Maybe the 6th sense is real, and the organ controlling the 6th sense is that part of the brain.

I think sleep paralisis is something that your body does everynight when you go to sleep. your body paralizes its self so it dosen't act out dreams and possibly get hurt. sometimes when you wake up your brain might get shocked a little bit if you wake up suddenly and might forget to unparalize your body and takes a little while to realize it still needs to unparalize your body.

a thread (i think in the Mysterys of mind space and time) about sleep paralysis (or at least that topic cropped up) in which i said things very similar to what ''Sum1'' has just said.
the body does paralyse itself when going into R.E.M (this is when you dream) and i think that waking up suddenly (which is more likely going to happen if you have had a bad or shocking dream) then the body doesnt have time to come out of paralysis before you wake.

but as for the question in hand, where we get all the 'material' for these hallucinations, i believe it was Sigmund Freud who thought that our dreams were related to sexual fustrations, although sometimes they could just be what they appear to be.
there are other theories but thats the only one i'm going to say.
i think thats what this question was about!? if not. im sorry. lol

edit: i think this is the longest post i've made on the forums!!! lol

Freud thought everything was related to sex rolleyes.gif Oh and Mothers .... man did he have issues ...
Most of the material your brain picks up for dreams and hallucination comes from the activities that have taken place in your daily life .
Skiwi the glowing figure sounds like you where spending a little bit of time in the Hauntings section of the forum . Keep a dream or perhaps in your case Hallucinations jounal . After a while you will be able to see that your dreams are simply products of your imagination based on actuall things that are taking place in your life .
Dreams are far easier to understand when you take away the visual part and try to work on them from an emotional level .

Thanks good point. I've realized that whenever I do hallucinate I'm not expecting it and when it happens it's very calm and innocent and after 5 seconds I then realize and try to scare my self. I have also noticed if im aroudn a lot of anger i will have more hallucination/sp and bad dreams.
