I think they are yususally too rotten to determine specific features by the time they are found. Giant suid no doubt account for a few Globsters

It does look like an Octopus from that angle doesn't it.

why didnt the people check for tentacles? if they did and found them, it would solve the case. idk what to think of the augustine monster.

I think they did and those going with the Octopus theory decided the tentcles had rotted off.

OK, this may sound stupid as I don't know much about the subject, but do whales drop their placenta after birth? Or is the process of birth too dissimilar from other mammals? It may be that some of these blobs could be that, but after a short bit of research I could find no information on it, as whale births are rarely seen or documented. I would however, imagine if a whale did discharge it's placenta after birth that it would be a veritable smorgasbord for other aquatic animals thereby making the possibility of it reaching shore rather slim. As I said, it may sound like a stupid question, but I figured I would ask anyway. happy.gif thumbsup.gif

Nice thinking out of the box there thumbsup.gif

The placenta though would be fairly small in size? I imagine such a protein rich substance would be scavenged very quickly as well.

Certainly a good call for smaller specimens.

This is what a humback placenta looks like

Definitly a possibility.

It certainly wouldn't account for the large masses that are sometimes found, but I'm kind of leaning toward whale carcass bits as well as various other animals in different stages of decay. I'm not convinced that there is some unknown animal responsible for these blobs, but I could be wrong. original.gif

the only carcass that baffles me is the caddy 1937 carcass. its head looked liek a camel and manatee skull. still i lean towards caddy being a sea cow
