Scientific explanation:
It is a natural phenomena where your retina become tired after exposing it with constant image. Think of it as the image you get on your monitor is you leave it on without a screensaver.
Paranormal explanation:
An energy field arround matters that emit a weak light that is visible if you stare at the object long enough.
Experiment:
Put your hand against a white background, preferably under white light. Focus your vision to one particular spot, and resist any temptation to see elsewhere. It is OK to blink, but do not change your focus. After about 2 or 3 (depends on skill) minutes you are going to see the aura.

Great explination

Also going along with the paranormal explination, people try to interpret the colors in the aura.

Before going to the application, you might want to make sure that it is a genuine auric vision.
Go find a green leaf (find a deep green one that is available during summer, not young, yellowish ones). If the aura is not red, maybe you have a genuine one. If it is red, go find another leaf (from another tree). If all of them turn out to have red aura, then you don't have real auric vision.

I think I have aura vision...almost everything i look at gives off a faint light around it to my vision...hands, keyboard, shirt, wall, desk...anything basically. I dont know if its genuine...no eaves, its the end of winter here.

not eaves...sorry. I meant to type leaves. Please disregard that mispelling.

Im not sure if it would work, but what about any plants you might have growing in your house? My mom has some plants...I should try later.

Because aura is transparent, it will be affected by the background. Or maybe you can test your auric vision with this little but slighty dangerous experiment.
1. See an aura of a person
2. Make him/her angry
3. See if the aura color change

somehow i make people angry all the time

.... but I dont mind

... they take their anger out on me

... because i have a high tolerance to pain...so I just when someone is already angry, the anger gets "removed"when I am around

I've recently noticed that I can see a light coming from people that also changes depending on the background. I've also noticed that I get a flash of colour, like blue or purple, though this seems like it's more in my imagination.
I did the experiment and I noticed a white light which followed my sight. Was this just an after image or was it a real aura?

I can see auras if I focus for a few seconds.
Sometimes, though, my auric vision goes into hyperdrive and I can see them without having to focus. This "hyperdrive" normally happens randomly, but I've found that sugar or glucose tablets help.
