Firstly I would like to ask how each of the Moderators/Administraters got into their power position. Do you need a certain number of posts?A certain number of hours spend on the UM forum? Are you appointed by the top dog on the website? And by the way, which one of you is at the top...whats your story?...

...After looking at the list of Moderators/Administraters I have noticed no Canadian moderators. Im a disappointed at this. We can be elected into the UN council repeated times because of our usefulness, but there are none on this site...

I vote for a Canadian representative!

Of course you do. You're from Canada.

So what its "Earth Wars: Attack of the Americans," now? Always trying to pick a fight are ya, always with the name calling and the fighting...

Gentlemen, gentlemen... tongue.gif Play nice please.

In any event, I would assume that mods recieve their position by demonstrating maturity, and the various skills needed for the job. Most of them are probably either board veterans, or people the power behind the throne knows personally, who he felt could handle the responsibility.

I doubt very much there are "elections" tongue.gif Becoming a mod shouldn't be a popularity contest, it should be about whether you're able and willing to do the job. Some sites give members the right to PM admins and ask to be a mod, however for a site this large, with this many members, I'm very sure there would be so many hopeless applicants wasting Sauroman's time, this probably isn't the case here.

If you're wanted to be a mod, I'm sure you'll be approached. It's not a cushy political position, or a banner to wave over your head, it's a job.

I love it when you read my mind. Saves me from having to do all that typing. thumbsup.gif

Well said Seraphina, and no it's not a popularity contest, judging by the amount of flack that certain Mods have got from some areas of the Forum, it can be a pretty thankless task to.

So why do we do it? If we didn't then the forum would be over-run with 'spammers' and people who just want to use the place as a cheap messenger service rather than use msn etc. People who just want to post abuse or just stupid rubbish. Some of these things we can stop, some we can't. And if we weren't around do you honsetly think this would be such a great place to visit?

SaRuMaN has worked hard to improve this place, it's vastly unrecogniseable from the the forum that I joined a few years ago and I was member 220 then. If he didn't trust us to use our fair judgements, then he wouldn't have asked up to be mods. So for all that people might complain that their latest thread on 'Cheese' or 'I'm going for a few hours Bye' has been deleted and it's not fair.. we try very hard to do a good job here.. So next time you want to have a go at a mod, have a think about what would happen if we weren't around...

Thanks for reading.. thumbsup.gif

That pretty much sums it up Sera. thumbsup.gif

We don't have any Australian moderators either, or French, German, Russian, Chinese, Brazillian...etc etc. The moderators are here to help run the board, not to represent the country they are from. Nationality doesn't enter into it.

Hey Joc,
You can insult my religion, my cat, or my school, but don't you ever EVER mess with my country! I am Canadian and darn proud of it! If you make fun of my country, my Royal Canadian Foot will find it's way to your backside! wink2.gif

Note: this is not to be taken seriously. Except that I am being serious. Canada Kicks Ass and don't you forget it. tongue.gif

Actually I have it from a good wink2.gif source
that the mods are not from this planet!

But until we can prove it one way or the
other it is still an Unexplained Mystery! whistling2.gif

Damn right... "Canada Kicks Ass," literally (as babyforrest explains.)
