I have noticed a number of new topics have been pulled recently.

Whilst some are simply locked down when they become abusive slanging matches, or because they are just plainly stupid, others simply vanish.

I assume that this is because they are offensive.

The question I have is this, surely these can be edited and then locked out, or even still responded to; why should someone mindless enough to post something abusive/offensive be able to get away with it without the rest of us knowing what a fool they are?

Stamford, Good Question.

I noticed that too. But I have faith in the Mods and Admins, (Even though I can't prove they exist)

I would like to see the member suspended or banned for the more offensive stuff.

But I think the Mods are correct in removing really offensive language and such.

Peace.

(PS Thanks)

Threads are very rarely deleted entirely, most of the time if action is warranted, a thread will simply be locked, as oppose to being completely removed.

The only time a thread is deleted is if it contains very offensive material or complete and utter nonense, in other words anything for which there is absolutely no reason to keep it, and absolutely every reason to get rid of it.

I have also noticed that some threads are not actually removed, they are combined with an earlier same/very similar threads. This does not leave the familiar "Moved" icon. This helps avoid repetition.

Thank you for your responses.

Upon reflection, I guess that even editing these offensive posts would still result in nothing more than a prolonged slanging match between the topic starter and those offended by his/her comments.

Something else that might help.. A place where the skeptics could debunk our thoughts, and a place where we (the seeker of help & the helpful) can go.. Without the skeptics putting in their 2-cents (sort-a-say) and leave it at that.. They keep mocking the words of the seeker making it more offensive than it has to be.. I admit I get a little edgy, only to back up what I believe.. Thanx for the topic STAMFORD.. Again just trying to help..

What was the reason for the 'Vent Your Frustrations' thread being removed rather than merely locked? dontgetit.gif

huh.gif It hasn't been removed.

just a little thing thats been niggling at me: I made a thread in the UFO section about UFO's in Iran. But it was deleted from that section because it had already been put in the Back page news section by someone else, which is fair enough. However, someone else made the same thread in the UFO section after mine was deleted. The thread has got quite a few replies. If mine was deleted, surely his should have been?
Saru
Your thread wasn't deleted intentionally, a temporary glitch in the forum system yesterday resulted in the thread disappearing when a moderator tried to move it to the back page news section, sorry about that.
