| This is a "tondo" (round painting) and I think that it is very unexplained because it will might be proof that UFO's were seen in the 15th century aswell. There is no definitive known authorship, but the most recent attributions are for JACOPO (which could also be spelt "Iacopo") DEL SELLAIO (1441-1493); I know of earlier attributions to Ghirlandaio and to some other artists. The painting is in Florence, in the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio (the Town Hall). Info from: Museum of Palazzo Vecchio. |
What do you think? Smudge, UFO or something completely different.

probably something different

I could be a UFO, there are a lot of paintings throughout history with UFO's in them, they might have called them something else back then.

There are about 100 if not more old pictures as such with UFO anomolies in them somewhere. It's been discussed many times here before. I will look it up and post it here once i get it.

yah, UFO
good artists do that, if they are painting a picture of a tree for example and one night they are looking at it and see a shooting star they will put that in the painting. so its more than likely that the artist actually witnessed something in the sky and that is what his interpretation of it is.

I might be condricting myself but I want to think that this is a UFO or it might be a smudge. I'm leaning towards UFO.

yep you can definitely see it. if you look in the close up one on the bottom right corner, you can see someone holding their hand on their foreheadl ike they are looking at something. definitely. but still, that doesnt say what it is. thought it does tell you its not a smudge or something.

Definitely think the painter just added too much ink on his brush and it made a smudge as he tried to paint the clouds....

Looks like a burn or distortion I think, more of a burn because of the outer rings. I think it could be a UFO, BTW, cool UFO Heiroglyphics!

its odd to me that a ufo is in what appears to be a religious type of painting
it looks a bit obvious that the man looking at the ufo is shielding his eyes from the sun so that he can see the ufo

I would have thought it was a smudge or a burn if there wasnt a person obviously staring at it in the picture. So I deffinatly think its a UFO.

I think UFO.
I've also read about UFO's being present in older artwork before, but with 3 hyper kids running around just don't ask me where. lol

I went to the National Gallery in London over the weekend, and saw this painting by Carlo Crivelli, which I found quite interesting.

Is that a ray of light from God, or an alien abduction?

The first one is the Madonna with St. Giovannino. This is probably the most popular UFO painting, it can be seen
HERE. The UFO has been circled. I've done many searches on this piece and they all have the UFO in it. An explaination for this one can be found
HERE. At the bottom in the comments. It's not very clear, but it's an explaination.
The next one to bring up:
UFO In Pianello. This one is really bizarre. If you click the image you can get a zoom of it, and the orange thing in the "window" appears to have the face of a grey in it... either that or it's Nap the cat. Hard to tell

There is no explaination for this one.
If anybody else has a crazy painting that they have found, post it here.

WOW! there are a lot of paintings in there! excellent site
A few of the paintings and descriptions were a little off... a few of them could very well have been meteors.
There are definetly quite a few paintings that are blatent ufo representations.

Some of them with the "UFO clouds" look like basic clouds... I think they're just horribly drawn clouds. But the others have unexplainable things, and I find it odd that they people see it but just continue on as if it's nothing...

If that's true then God really does like to travel in creepy style. Trying to avoid all religious entanglement, the 'smudge' is too well defined to be a mistake, maybe he wanted to paint in the star that the three wise men followed but couldn't because it wouldn't show up in a daylight scene, so he created a dark shape instead.
(I really hope that makes more sense than it did in my head)

Maybe the painter was an alien! He is just trying to show every one that he is an alien. or its floating cheese, and the man looking at it is hungry

Well, you can tell from the detail that it's no smudge. Looks sort of like the thing in close encounters of the third kind, wierd.

That's why I posted that 2nd picture... to prove that it was no smudge...
