To me there are five elements:

Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit.

Each one is associated with different aspects, as described below.

Air is of the mind, the brain, the intellect and logical thought, the Airy side of us is the part that wants to learn, it is also curious and tries to understand the nature of things. It can also be quickness of thought, lightness of being, humour, and the joy of life.

But it is also impersonal and detached, for emothion can distort the thinking process, Air adheres to the letter of the law.

Fire gives warmth, it is activity, making things happen, exciitement, entertainment. It is important if we act in the world, it is a purifying element. It is also associated with a hot temper, which is a part of it's warlike aspect. It is flamboyant, colourful, it's passion can foster love of life, creativity, and indignation against injustice. It is also freedom and passion, and the energy and warmth of love. Intuition is also related to fire, as well as insight and inspiration..

Water is fluid, accepting and tolerant, it overcomes difficulties by going around them and ignoring them, instead of fires head on confrontation. It is love, compassion and the quality of mercy, it si dreaming and broody, it is also the negative side of dreaming, such as nightmares and fobias. Water can be a deep well of knowledge, knowledge that comes from deep inside of us, brought out by meditation, and getting in touch with our inner-selves. Annother quality os emapthy, or the ability to have an insight into other peoples thoughts and feelings.

Earth is the element associated with the physical body, and is the basis of material existance, it has the qualities of steadfastness, dependability, endurance and protection. It is also sex and sensuality, as well as greed, about food as well as money.

Spirit is the last element, it is of the mind, body, and soul. And as such is the one that binds all the other four together. it is the one that also links them all, and is what enables us to do majick, by getting close to the deity and also by enabling us to reach into ourselves, for all power comes from within as well as without.

I've always seen fire as much more angry than this. Anger and danger. I didn't realise it was associated with so many things...

To me the elements are like this-

Fire is like berserk power and strength.

Water is like Vastness and mysterious, it is generally calm but can get really strong when it wants to, and is healing.

Lightning is like speed.

Ice is like a freezing tool used to impair abilities of others.

Air is like ready to flee at any moment, for evasive needs.

Darkness is like stealth and tactical, used for surprises.

Light is like shining and bright, used to do good things, and defend others.

Earth is the master element, using the powers of all.

Thats kind of what i think of the elements.
