Dutch law enforcement use web-tap to capture ‘dessert-terrorist’

Dutch public prosecutor Taco Stein has described law enforcement authorities in the Netherlands as a "technology-savvy police force with sweeping powers," in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Mr Stein’s interview had to do with the recent ‘dessert terrorist’ case in which a Dutchman was convicted of attempted murder, and given a ten-year prison sentence for trying to extort €200,000 from Campina, a Dutch dairy company, by lacing its yoghurts and other desserts with pesticide.
Dutch police received help from behavioural experts and toxicologists, as well as the Dutch Forensic Institute and Institute for Applied Scientific Research (TNO).
However, it was the internet and co-operation from the FBI that finally cracked the case.
