This is what lies at the very root of the monotheistic religions:
"Genesis 3
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons."
Satan is subtle and deceitful as the serpent in this story. He/she cloaks himself/herself in a coat of love and light, but what he/she peddles is the same.
The fruit of knowledge, the opening of your eyes, the awakening. Doesn't that sound familiar?
Veda = knowledge Gnosis = knowledge
The fruit of the serpent is the same fruit as ever. So much for subtlety! But then God did expect us to work it out.
The expectation is the same as ever - the opening of the eyes, awakening.
That fear of death in the back of your mind is banished but momentarily as you begin to nibble. This death though is symbollic of the "second death". The one that matters. The one on the Day of the Lord.
And what happens when they eat of the fruit of knowledge? Are their eyes opened? Or do they just find that they have become naked in the sight of God, as ever?
Not awakened, just naked and more bereft than ever before, as they face the certainty of the second death.
There is a lesson to learn there people. The lesson is that the awakening of Satan is a fraud. It is a yoke to fool and to deceive and to enslave you. For eternity.
With the knowledge of the serpent you don't really awaken.
You just become more naked than you ever were before.
