In the near future, unexplained-mysteries.com will be saying goodbye to the "YaBB" forum software which has been used to power the discussion forum for the last two years in which the site has been running. I will instead by opting for the more widely used "phpBB" system to power the forum.
There are a number of reasons for this. Primarily, it is faster even than YaBB SE, and will help to reduce bandwidth usage even further. It is very widely supported, with a lot less problems than YaBB has had. It also supports a vast number of features that YaBB does not, including :
Avatar Uploading
Avatars can be uploaded by users in the same way as attachments.
News Column Integration
The news column comments system can be integrated with phpBB, allowing seamless integration between the forum and the news. This will also allow archiving of news articles within a new forum category.
Custom Syle Templates
Don't like the look of the forum ? You can select a theme to suit your own tastes from a selection of available visible styles.

- Improved profiles and post indexing
I am currently working on the installation and setup of the new forum software, and it should be functional soon. As with the previous forum upgrade, existing posts, topics, members etc. will all be converted to the new forum.
Please don't feel discouraged from posting in this forum at the moment, since I will be converting the existing forum over at a later time. I will post more details nearer the point at which everything will switch over to the new forum.
