I completely agree. I remember watching a documentary several years ago, all about how the world we live in today is the safest its ever been (compared to the times of the Roman empire or the medieval holy wars and black death etc.)

But due to the fact that we still have an alertness to these dangers, urban legends and stories in the news have a habit of whipping everyone up into a frenzy.
Apparently, thats why some people like rollercoasters and horror films, because they tend to the side of our nature that needs to be scared.

Throw into the mix governments who like to spread paranoia in order to get the populace around to their way of thinking and bingo, everyone is rushing out to buy gas masks, build air raid shelters and fret about the apocalypse.

and last but by far the most dangerous, presidential candidates, “Look out! - A terrorist might kill you”

I keep hearing this in subliminal form from ads and the super neocons.

"If Kerry is elected, terrorist will (fill in the blank)

Clinton screwed the military and US.

Blah blah wof wof.........

I have seen more fear mongering since 9/11 than in my entire life.

First it was the commies,
then it was Russia and the commies
then it was Cuba and the commies
then it was commies from within
then it was nuclear power
then it was Guns
then it ws drugs
then it was drugs and guns
then it wsa gays
then it was AIDS
then it was gays and Aids
then it was devil whorshipers
then it was the religious right
then it was the immoral left
NOW it's terrorist

What I fear most is my own freaking leaders.
From the President all the way down to the city dog catcher.
THEY DON"T HAVE A CLUE FROM BUSH 1 to Clinton to BUSH BABY
NOT ONE OF THEM HAS A CLUE

then it ws drugs

never really was drugs, though they said it was...the "war on drugs" is the most farcical, ineffectual hoax conceived. lol i loved how when after the terrorist attacks these anti-drug commercials came up saying that if you bought ANY FORM OF DRUGS AT ALL, you'd be paying the terrorists...yeah, really, like the crackdealer is gonna share any of his hard-earned profits with people who want to destroy his country. destroyed country means fewer customers, what with the death and other minor annoyances. and people too stoned to walk are all part of some foul anit-america conspiracy. sounds like a winning team.

uh... you do remember we get alot of our drugs from supposed terrorist countrys correct? anywhoo lol i like bush (oh no now everyone hates me crying.gif ) but i do believe he went about doing the war in the wrong way he stormed in before he got a rebuild plan and it's causing problems now
NickFun
Bush is a paranoid, delusional, sociopathic muderer of the highest degree! He has ordered the execution of more innocent people than any president in history. The worst Serial Killers cannot equal the carnage Bush has created. Of course, he is bringing democracy to Afghanistan and their drug trade has gone wild! Opium production is at an all time high! The good thing is that the Afghami people are now able to make a subsistance living.

ummm..i dont care what bush has done or not done so long as the USA remains the worlds sole superpower and we can continue to lay the smack down on anyone we feel like...the only problem i have is why we keep taking crap from these little podunk countries.

very pc of you arashi.

but haven't you heard that in the coming decades that america probably won't be a superpower anymore? when i heard this, i was stunned. not by the idea that the u.s. could be toppled, just by the wondering about who would take it's place. if i had to guess, i'd say the chinese.

I said nothing about christian or any other religion.

Christians are not the only 'right wing' religions out there.

BTW The whole thing was done with sarcasm

no harm, no foul, eh stillcrazy? still, if you (or anyone else) are a little unsure of where i'm coming from with anything i say, either

1)look at the dancing banana while listening to music and note how he seems to move perfectly with the beat! any beat!
or
2)ask questions to your hearts content.

of course you could always take the third option, but that would involve all those...murders.

I think people in New York, LA, and DC are paranoid about terrorism and probably should be. I don't think the rest of the country has changed much since 9/11.

Question, who do terrorist get their weapons from?
What is the USA #1 export?

I'd say Russia:)

that said, the US isn't giving out weapons to terrorists, the weapons companies are exporting legitimate goods to various governments/dealers what happens from there is where the problem lies, its a bit like blaming america and the UN for what its humanitariun aid contributions in Afghanistan ended up paying for (guns guns guns)
