ebay is one crazy phenomenon. even if that were spelled right, the point still stands. this is something being sold on ebay by the website
Cockeyed.com.
eBay Pixel Adnotice the starting bid of 10 measly cents and look at the current bid.
other things this site has sold: toast in a jar, homemade spring shoes, and 100 feet (and 2 inches!) of porn bound together as a book.
proves that anything can be sold over the internet.

I saw an ebay item that was a leftover piece of pizza with just one bite taken out. Kinda gross unless you are a half eaten pizza fetishist.

People will bid absurdly high prices for some things.
I've done it on occasion.

Sounds to me like cockeyed.com have effectively used e-bay as an advertising tool. A 1x1 pixel advert is no use to man nor beast, but yet it's received 12,000 views, generating considerable traffic for that site. Not only have they attracted extra visitors, but they've even made $100 into the bargain.
A pretty nice result for selling something that is essentially worthless.

Hm... isn't that what a lot of people buy though... Spend a lot of money on nothing? *Shrugs and goes back to beading necklaces*

Hey there,
Just found these on Ebay...
You are bidding on a haunted stick of deodorant.
When the user of this product left it in their house for an extended period of time, it became apparent that this was no ordinary deodorant. She noticed her cat was acting strange and refused to enter the room where it was kept. After some investigation, she realized that her deodorant was up several "clicks" when she destinctly remembered that it was not above the top of the conrtainer. She quicky cleaned off the top of the container and realized it was ice cold. She quickly left the room, only to return later and realize that her deodorant was above the top of the container again.
HAUNTED UNDERPANTS
Okay....here's the story, and I am not making this up. A few weeks back, I acquired several items from an estate sale of a young college baseball player who had died in an automobile accident while returning from a ballgame. I received various items, including a box of odds and ends. Weird events began to unfold. For instance, I kept finding the guy's jock strap draped over a rocking chair I had also acquired from his estate. This was freaking out my fiance, so I auctioned off "Mr. Baseball's" jock strap on EBay. You can click the link below to verify my story.
Too Weird for me...

It's ludicious what some people will sell and what others will buy. However I can see the practical applications for such an ad and hyperlink. Even on Unexplained-Mysterious.com, I accidently click on the free ads on the top of the site and am taken to another site. Perhaps this is this buyers intention. He can make money just by the traffic he gets, purposely or accidentally, so the $100 he spends can bring in $1000 if the site this 1x1 pixel it's on ad gets high traffic.

Why? Think of all the pubicity it brings them. Just alone on this website, which I've seen dozens of odd auctions in the Auctions forums, they'll be bringing in potential customers. Just like what Saruman was saying about advertising. eBay gets paid for items you put up, and the free advertisement of oddities like these. I bet ebay loves things like this.

I love going to though for fun also helps pass time seeing who all is getting ripped off for so much stupid crap. But there is a few things good sold there and over the internet that are useful. But on e-bay abou 90% of the stuff is worthless.

... I haven't really checked out everything on eBay, but I wouldn't say 90% of the stuff is useless. People have odd hobbies and collections, and eBay allows them to feed those hobbies and collections. Nothing useless about that. I'd rather have someone with a collection of odd looking sandwiches and food stuffs than someone on the streets murdering people for a hobby, wouldn't you?
Just my thoughts. I'd say the reverse, that 10% of the stuff is useless.

I have heard you can sell Runescape accounts on ebay. How does this work? Do you give the winner of the auction your username and password? I could make a small fortune...
