An 81-year-old pensioner from Santiago has escaped serious injury after managing to park his car on two levels of a multi-storey car park at the same time.

The man, who doesn't want to be named, told Chile's Las Ultimas Noticias paper that the accident happened after he became confused about which gear he was in.

Apparently he slammed his car into first gear instead of reverse, causing it to crash over a barrier and down onto the parking level below.

The pensioner escaped largely unhurt with only a small cut to his hand.

However police had to call for reinforcements after a large crowd of people turned up to see the car's precarious position for themselves.Link
