I believe there is a government conspiracy going on here at the web site. Anytime I profess my religion I get booted off and the elders don't like me starting topics about creation vs. evolution. They told me that the debate wouldn't go far but I achieved 39 posts in one day and they closed it before it got good. That's the third one of mine that they closed. Now that's what's rude around here, not me going behind their backs. Take this away if you wish, but i'm going to lay low a bit, but I'll be back with hopefully some better discussion topics.

it's because that topic has been beat to death

So what if it's overplayed! I want to know other people's opinions and I'm new here. There are other people, new members, who also would like to know and want to share their opinion. It's a topic that will never die. Even my magic question got moved and as far as I know that wasn't overplayed. If you really look at it, all the questions here are overplayed. Do aliens exist? Does God exist? i have headaches, I saw the mothman, my house is haunted, I was abducted, etc...etc...ect...infinity. I'm not making fun of anyone but the only chance I get to talk to people about religion with differing opinions I get shut down. The only time I get to talk to someone about religion, I have to pretend to have a skeptic view point when talking to my pastor. If people want to talk about the things I post, let them. It seems like a lot of the posts I made concerning religion are popular and it's what people are talking about. If religion isn't something the moderators don't want us to talk about, then please post a disclaimer to let everyone know. Thank-you

Saucy I am sympathetic with your views but your fighting a loosing battle. Just go your own way and don't worry about them there are just certain topics that historically start flamewars and the mods shutthem down it's not personal unless you make it so...

whoa, settle down there saucy. i know yer frustrated. i'd like to see your topics posted, even if some people get far too angry about em. if you REALLY want to find out peoples views on this sort of stuff, if you are still unable to get a post up, just pick a person you're curious about, send them an e-mail asking for their opinion on blah, and then ipso facto hokus pokus abra cadabra norawy, there ya go. you have a person to debate with or even, gasp of gasps, have a standard conversation that doesn't end in debate!

just so ya know, i'm in a funny mood at the moment, but i am on your side. if anything i said confused or angered you (especially that bit about norway scared.gif ), i'm sorry.

in summation: keep trying, try one-on-one debate via e-mail, norway, and, sincerely, good luck.

Phsycotic sea otter is right. Usually those devbates seem to degenerate into your wrong im right no your wrong an im right. Which get a little borin. IF its a new topic then fina and well but if its an old rehashed one thats been closed then just read the archived topic and judge people's opion that way.

I doubt its a vendetta against you.

Hey man, I'm cool now. I was just angry because I watched four of my threads disappear before anyone answered. I understand why now and the moderators were right. Those topics are repeatative and it turns into religion bashing. I know this isn't my website or anything, but I would ask that the moderators don't cut people off because they think they don't want to debate about it. If people don't, then they won't post any replies to the question. Let the people answer that question by their support. Seems to me all the religious debating has picked up tremendously since I've arrived and the posts keep coming and coming. I'm not saying that I created the controversy or anything, but it seems like the thing that's on people's hearts whatever side they are on. I'm just trying to think of something original and new to talk about. wacko.gif

CommieX, please keep your additions to threads to the point and don't blurt out silly random sentences.

Thank you.

They don't shut threads down because they think no-one is interested. They shut them down because they tend to just end with insults. You can't debate about religion. It just doesn't work. Trying to prove/disprove a point in religion isn't possible because in the debaters' minds, they are both right.

I didn't think this forum was about disproving others but that it's about sharing information about the paranormal. Religionbashing has no place in that.

Just to add my comment on the heels of Potholers, religious and political topics tend to get into insulting flame wars, even between people that will agree on other items.

If ya look at the forum like a local bar or tavern you'll get an idea of what will fly and what won't. The Admins are the owners, the mods are the bartenders. Then ya have younger folks with fake ID's who sneek in just for a good time and maybe to cause a little trouble. Then you have the old foggies like me that have an opinion on everything. Plus we have a history story or two to tell. All the rest are regular patrons who get together to talk about whatever pops to mind.
The two subjects ya don't discuss in a bar. RELIGION AND POLITICS

Pour me a double barkeep.

Very well put, stillcrazy.

I agree.
Religion is always a sensitive topic, and it is sad, but that is human nature, something almost none of us can stop. I don't think making more and more threads about it is going to help the situation at all either, since people are going to even more angry as they see more threads about this topic popping up. Personally I don't mind it, and sometimes I think it is amusing, but some people can take it very personally and get angry. If people start flaming at a topic, I take it as a sign right there that it should not progress much further, because nothing good will come out of it.
