Hello,
Im new here. This is my 2nd post. I introduced myself in the off topic section. Anyway I remember hearing a story that was supposed to be true when I was kid. I lived in a little, little, town called Hesperia in western Michigan and at that time I was living in a trailor park with my mom and dad. My neighbour was a really weird old lady who lived by herself. My mom and I were visiting the old lady one afternoon,...my mom had to go use the restroom and the old lady grabbed my arm and proceeded to tell me the story of the Ghost Dog. She said "you see my porch there? The one you walked up on?" ...She proceeded to tell me how about 4 years ago before her husband had died an old grey short haired rabid dog had crawled under her porch. Her husband called the local police after not being able to get the dog out from under the porch. Apparently it just layed there and whimpered all day and night. The police came out and looked everything over. There was nothing there. They then found the body of the dog lying in the backyard ..."She was completly white...white as a ghost i tell you. Thats what she is now,...and she's in them woods you play in." Then my mom came back and the old lady turned back to a smile and went on with a normal conversation. I was really shook up.
Skip a year. My friend Trek and I were playing in the woods, and i was telling him about how sometimes I thought I seen reflections of animal eyes in the trees. As we were walking we found an old camo hood that had aprox. 100 claw marks in it. I had my kiddie camera with me and took a picture of it that I still have. As I was taking the picture we heard the strangest scream I know I have ever heard. Whatever it was screamed/howled 2 times. It was a cross between a horse and..a horrible human like scream.
Was this the ghost dog?
What do you think?
Thanx for reading.

Can you post the pic for me? If you don't want to that's ok.
That's waay weird though
any other odd experiences like that, or was it a one-time thing?

Hmmm, think this should be in the 'Ghosts & Paranormal' section really.
The story is interesting but maybe says more about the old lady than any dog. Maybe she wanted to keep little kids away from some kind of putative danger in the woods, or maybe she just wanted to mess with your head.
...then again, maybe she was barking mad (excuse the pun).

Scratches and horrible screams? Sounds like a cougar to me. Probably a cougar or some other wild cat, not a ghost dog.

That scream could be anything. Some machines that need oiling make noises like that. There's more I want to know about this story. I don't disbelieve you but you're talking about a build up of a mini legend, I think. The eyes, sure it wasn't a cat?

i think that it it was a ghost dog. i'v herd stories about a guy in some town that was killed by a dog but no tracks around it wer efound and it was in mud too. but then again the person who told that story to me was drunk at the time.

I tought you meant Hesperia as the ancient name for Italy. Good story though.

Well to be honest I'm not sure about if it was a ghost. But when you said in Hesperia I thought you ment Hesperia, California! Since I only live 30 miles away from there.

But you did not mean California.

It sounds like to me the old women was trying to scare you....If she had been serious she'd told your mother the story also and would not have waited until you where alone with her, also she'd keep talking to you about it when your mother returned instead of acting like nothing had happen......
