KJ Mom
I am new to this forum, so if you could please bear with me if I am making a post in the wrong area.

My family bought our house just a little over 6 years ago. From day one there have been strange things happen. We have heard a music box playing in our upstairs when we were all downstairs. My husband would swear that I was standing in the doorway watching him add wood to our wood stove when I was still upstairs in bed. I have heard a man's voice saying the work "NO" and my husband was not at home at the time and the television was off. I am sure that there could be reasonable explinations for all of these things. Our most recent and most difficult problem has been going on for about two weeks. My son, who is 18 months old has been lashing out at us, especially at night. I have been through the terrible two's before with my daughter, and this is so much different. He screams like he is in horrible pain, thrashes around the bed and hits my husband and I like he is trying to defend himself. Last night during another night of the horrible fits, he was screaming "ow" over and over. He knows that is what is said when something hurts. He was not holding an arm or leg like a specific part of his body hurt. He had both arms and legs straight our stiff as a board. When we have him take a nap downstairs, none of these things happen.
We have found out that our home was built in 1912, and the family room was once used for funerals. Many funerals. Is there any possibility that there is some type of spirit that is trying to hurt my son, and if so why?
I was raised with the belief that the only spirits left on earth were demons. They are able to take any shape or form they choose. Which makes me remember that I have also seen a small child like figure with large eyes run into my daughter's closet. I know that the figure was wearing a hat, but other than the large eyes that if all that I saw before ruuning down the stairs.
Does anyone know why the upstairs in my house is where we are having the majority of occurences happen?
I have heard alot of things, how reliable they are I do not know. Like the more evil the spirit or demon is the more drawn they are to small kids. I have also heard that some spirits do have the power to do physical harm.
I would appreciate any help that anyone would offer. The time that I have spent searching for information has done me very little good. I am probably not looking in the right spots.

Thanks.

I have never heard of an instance where this was true. I guess it might possible for a spirit to cause harm by throwing an object at you, but that would require a lot of energy. I think that scenario is pretty unlikely (due to the tremendous energy required) and can't think of another way a spirit could hurt anyone.

I don't think this is true but, given the situation with your son, I understand how your belief might be reinforced. I have actually had many experiences (and heard of others from close friends and family) with benevolent spirits. You can read about my "ghost stories" and many other harmless ones in this forum. Just take a look around. I hope it makes you feel better.

Again, based on my own experiences, this is not always true. Yes, I think kids are more open to experiencing ghosts, but I think there are good spirits that respect us and mean no harm and there are those who are troubled or angry - just like people. I guess I'm just trying to set your mind at ease because you seem pretty worried and I don't want you to freak out at every strange occurance in your home. There may be more than one spirit - as is the case in my mom's house. Given the fact that your home was once used for funerals, this is not unlikely. And just like most people are harmless, so are spirits.

Have you tried talking to the entity that you believe is bothering your son? This may sound silly, but I think it's worth a shot. Just speak as if you were talking to a person. Try it at different times - like right after your son awakens from a fitful sleep or any other time that it occurs to you that you might not be alone. Just try to speak with courage and conviction, telling it to leave him alone. The spirit just might listen. I believe that the ghost in my mom's house listened to her requests. Even stranger, I think one ghost in my mom's house shields people from the fear instilled by the other. Maybe one of your "friendly" ghosts will assume that same role.

I wish I had some better advice, but I don't. I suspect that you haven't recieved many replies from others yet for the same reason. But that does not mean there is no answer, and perhaps someone here has it. I just wanted you to know that someone cares about your situation. Good luck.

When a wee tot like yours is involved KJ Mom , talking to a Doctor should be considered . .Just in case . original.gif

As with Kismit, you should rule out the obvious first - get your kiddiewink checked over.

When you've ruled out that, then consider the alternatives.

The advice given by Permakid is sound, speak to the entity and tell it to leave - claim back your own space in your house. I have done it once, and sometimes you have to repeat this a few times. If this does not work, and for some reason, I think it won't in this instance (call my psychic) but consider getting a medium or spiritualist to come in and cleanse the house.

No entity that harms a child should be tolerated. Kick it's ass out. thumbsup.gif

If a child seems in any way endangered for any reason steps should be taken to address the problem. Even if those steps are drastic! I know someone who purchased an old home and was driven out by a ghost the previous owners knew was there but did not inform the new owner about. The sale was actually cancelled because of it. Talk to a doctor first then seek other alternatives.

I vote for the doctor idea too - sounds like a necessary first step to protect your child! I'm not sure why I didn't think of it before. huh.gif

Permakid , you still gave good advice original.gif

This is the strangest thing. Everyone that has replied suggest seeing a doctor, and my son had his final round of RSV shots today. For anyone who may wonder what an RSV shot is, it is given to kids who were born early and/or have had issues with lowered immune systems. RSV is a virus linked to the common cold. The shot is to help keep their immune systems strong enough to handle any colds they catch. Anyway, I asked about my son's sleep patterns. Without coming out and asking if the doctor thought there could be a ghost bothering my son, I wanted to know what his opinion of the situation was. I feel bad for beating around the bush with the doctor like that, but you all have to understand that I live in a very tiny community in southern Iowa. The town I live in has a population of 98 People, so talk of some crazy woman asking about ghosts would spread like wildfire through my town and all the surrounding communities. The doctor said it was probably a phase. I should just ignore it the best I could and get through it. I pressed the situation and asked if there was any chance that he may have at some point hurt himself and could he be having some type of seizure. Although it would be strange to only have this happen at night I asked anyway. We were sent over to the hospital for some bloodwork, I should have the results in a day or two. I just don't for one minute think this is a phase he is in.

I was also able to find out some other information on our house. I very good friend of mine, who has lived in my area all of her life grew up with friends who lived in my house years ago. She would spend the night with the girls who lived here. She is very much a believer, and I felt like I could trust her. She told me that she had a horrible experience one night and never spent the night again. She woke up to a dog pinning her to the bed. One paw on each shoulder. When she went to scream the dog disappeared. Is there a significant reference to the dog?
And what could so significant about our stairways, especially to the upstairs? At night if I have to be up late, as soon as I get about 5 feet from the doorway, I can feel the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I have the urge to run like I am being chased.
As for having someone walk through our house, I would have no idea who to call. I considered talking to a priest about having the house blessed. I could be wrong, but at one time it was my understanding that the catholic church would rather not get involved. My husband is catholic and swears that is the view, at least with the two priests we have. Any ideas for me?
Again thanks for all of the posts. I really appreciate it. I will let everyone know what the blood tests say .

Is there any other good web sites that I could check out for info?
Tia
Hi KJ Mom,
I hope everything went well with the blood tests. I had a similar problem with my youngest. Every so often she'd get hysterical when I put her down to sleep at night, I tried everything to settle her but she'd only get more upset. I eventually did a cleaning of her room demanding anything that was not of God to leave. It worked after about 2 days.
She had a couple of repeat episodes but being forwarned I found clearing her room only took the one time on each repeat episode. It's been over a year now since all this happened, and all is well.
Good luck with your son and I'd go along with Loonboy and get a medium in to help you.

KJ Mom, it does sound like your house has something in there with you guys.

Hmmm.

I'll refer to my own instance in which I 'cleansed' a house. It happened about 2-3 years ago when my mother reported hearing a low, whispery voice speak from the other side of a door to her. This was the culmination of years of odd happenings and strange feelings of dread and discomfort in certain parts of the house. Basically, the voice said 'shut up' to her, but it was said in a very nasty, hateful way. There had been other moments where family members had been touched or heard sounds etc.

This, as you can imagine, was the final straw. So I went into the house and took with me some white candles. I lit them and put one against each wall (n, s, e, w), then carried one through the house as I spoke to the entity(s) in there. I just acted like this was a person who had outstayed their welcome and told it very firmly and very directly to leave, that it was not welcome and that it should not return. I walked through the house from top to bottom, speaking in every room. (You have to be firm and unflinching.)

I left the candles burning for an hour. Afterwards I advised my mother to keep fresh flowers & fruit in the main rooms (this may sound odd, I know, but it's all about introducing 'good' energy into the home after a cleansing - nature abhors a vacuum) for a few days.

The house felt better afterwards and there were never any more instances of discarnate voices or odd sensations, however, when I visit, the family report strange noises and 'things' for a day or so afterwards. Maybe I have a spiritual entourage.... lol. w00t.gif

If you can't find a spiritualist and you want to try this, KJ Mum, make sure you're firm and resolute and don't back down - remember this is your house and you don't deserve to have anything in there you don't want.

Good luck, chuck. thumbsup.gif

It would be wise to cast the spirit out of there
if its hurting anyone
or making you feel fear...
you should have somebody bless the house
and get it out..
and yes demons can cause physical harm..
theres many true stories about that....
