Well technically they are and I do believe in the past there was a three-way debate once that did go ahead. Recently we tried one but the partcipants had to pull out.

If the topic was suitable and the participants were 100% committed then it could be set up.

Animal testing - right or wrong?
Fur - justifiable or cruel?
Meat consumption in modern society - needed or unnecessary?
Hunting - way of life or cruel past time?

I would be more than willing to debate in any of these subjects if they are put up, though I think I've done some of them before.

This next one, I'm not really sure how to word it, so here's the bestI've been able to come up with: The ethics of Cyborg technology - Should cyborg technology research (pacemakers, artificial limbs, cochlear implants, etc) be expanded to enhance the lives of healthy people (better hearing/sight/intelligence for example), or should it be restricted to helping the sick and disabled only.

I'd love to see a debate on the tactics the government is using in the Patriot Act to keep us 'safe'. I had this discussion the other day with a friend of mine. Reading our emails, listening in on telephone conversations....Should this be used to protects us from terrorism or is it just the government's way of spying on American Citizens? Are we losing our freedom or is it worth giving it up to keep another 9/11 from happening?

We have been setting up new debates but we just aren`t getting people signing up and many of the current debates are ending with one of the participants either pulling out or just not bothering to post at all.

Anyway many of these suggestions are very good and I shall go about setting a couple of them up as debate topics!

A lot of the regular debators are waiting for the Tournament. We don't know much about the details, and we don't want to get caught in the middle of one debate when the comp starts.

I came to that conclusion myself PA and I assure you that the tournament will be set-up as soon as possible. We were firstly just waiting for all the debate league debates to be completed which did take awhile.
Secondly Jen and I are just completing our first semester of University and had to finish up all of our assignments. I`m on my final one before exams and will be finished within a day or two. Onec that is completed I shall go talk to Saruman about setting up this tournament.

Leave it 2 weeks, that gives me time to finish semester also

Yes I was just about to suggest the Da Vinci Code... But I think you should debate factors of the code, not the actual movie/book's events and conclusions.
Also, how deeply have you debated evolution? I think debates over where humans came from or whether evolution even exists or not would be interesting topics.

well we have a new sub forum ( true crime) , could debate a question relating to that..as theres probably been no previosly relevent debate subjects pertaining, i assume .
