Also is it just me or has the WWE has become way to American

Yes...in fact, since Bush has become President, the WWE has done a lot to gear its product in a direction of poor taste, and racism against other countries...especially France.

Then again, the WWE has always had something against foreign stars...look at TAKA Michinoku, one of the finest wrestlers in the world, booked as a hopeless jobber, just because he had two things going against him: 1) he wasn't huge, and 2) he was from Japan...two things that, in Vinnie Mac's world, make you a jobber.

If I went to the WWE, then I'd probably we told either to lose my accent, or to dance a jig on my way to the ring, eat haggis on screen, and have entrance music that sounded like wailing bagpipes disgust.gif I struggle to think of a single non-American or Canadian wrestler that's been given a decent push in the WWE...the only person I can think of who got anywhere near the main event level, who was portrayed a foreign person was Roddy Piper back in the day....and he's Canadian! With, I might add, the worst attempt at a scottish accent I've ever heard wacko.gif

This does actually remind me...on Smackdown, Michael Cole made the following call...

"And Rene Dupree, like the damn french army, throws a woman at John Cena to run away!"

....are they STILL on that!? *shakes her head, and sighs*

I think most of it is just to cater for the ignorant red necks who have no real idea what's going on in world affairs....what the WWE really needs to do is realise that a majority of its fans aren't ignorant red necks. But if they keep going the way they are in some areas, they're gonna lose everyone who isn't blink.gif

Hey Seraphina I might have missed this but are you enrolled in a wrestling school, if so how much does it cost over there?
Seraphina
£10 every sunday. There are three weekdays sessions, each of which cost a lot less...though the overall price is about the same.

I'm actually going to be there in about 6 hours.
50Cent
??? dontgetit.gif
AtticusBlueprint
oh because I'm in Edmonton, Alberta and here we have Monster Pro Wrestling and they have a training school, It's a 100$ a month, Which seemed kinda pricey for my blood
Seraphina
I would assume, however, that you get what you pay for...

Overall, I'm paying about £40 a month (that's...say...$72 US...I've got no idea what it would be Canadian). When I start the advanced classes, however, I'll be on the equivilant of $144 US dollars per month...so you've got it pretty cheap wink2.gif

We are allowed to pay in small doses though, and we only pay at the classes we attend...you can also watch for free if you want, but that's obviously not anything like as good as actually getting the instruction.

I can understand what you're saying. Techincal wrestlers have skills and brawlers don't. I don't know why though, I have a huge attraction to the Undertaker though. It's weird. Hearing his music, even when he was the American Badass, I enjoyed him, good guy, bad guy, doesn't matter. I've always enjoyed watching the Undertaker fight, his differing styles, attitudes, everything. I don't know what it is. I always get a fluttering in my stomach knowing he's wrestling. No, it's not a gay thing or anything. I do agree about technical wrestlers though. They have the real skill.
Seraphina
QUOTE

Probably the exact same reason people loved Hulk Hogan, even though he was utterly talentless in the ring, even in his prime - nostalgia.
AtticusBlueprint
well I think the fans still have an attraction to the Undertaker still, he's a legend, I think if you asked people before a smackdown show started who they would want to see Eddie or Undertaker I'd put my bet on the Undertaker. People still wanna see the old school guys, but i think theres gotta be a balance between the old and new

P.S. This goes with talking about old school, I think Ric Flair should have a shirt and pants on at all times, nobody needs to see him in short shorts *shudders*

I agree..Ric Flair is a saggy old man who should be a manager instead of a wrestler...that way he gets to wear suits all the time...

I don't have a clear favourite (not in terms of quality anyway), so I'll just give a mention to everyone I have something to say about, or care enough to say something, good or bad.

Chris Benoit - quite possibly the best pure wrestler in the world today, Benoit's had his current title reign coming a long, long time. I'm hoping for what's going to be a very lengthy reign indeed...however, he does need to work on his mic skills. As a face champion, I don't think he could afford to split the spotlight with a manager...for a heel, it's obviously different (heels don't need to be the hero, battling alone against impossible odds), so he's going to have to work on that part himself....in the ring, however, he's virtually perfect.

Chris Jericho - The best all round talent on RAW, Chris Jericho needs to get pushed back to the main event. Great wrestler, great mic worker, great look...it's amazing to think that a guy who is, quite frankly, the total package, is being booked in the midcard. It's sad...it really is....I'm just glad they're giving him good air time now.

Edge - I would have given him a lot more dark matches before bringing him back. From his return match, he's rusty as hell. Putting him in a team with Benoit isn't bad though, since it'll allow Benoit to cover his mistakes. However, I'm worried it might draw the spotlight away from Benoit.

Eugine (Nick Dinsmore) - I was afraid I'd hate this gimmick...but it's actually very funny. He plays it in a way that, to me, seems less like it's making fun of the character's condition, and one that leaves you more going "aww..." Didn't get to see his first match, so I don't know how they're letting him perform. If he's allowed to do his thing, he should be awesome.

Goldberg - Na na....na na na na....Hey hey hey....Goodbye...

Lance Storm - Someone remind me, why is Lance Storm working Heat? Why oh why did they drop his singles push, which was going pretty well? Why on earth is one of the best technicians in the company not on tv? DEAR GOD WHY!?

Mark Henry - Na na...na na...you get the picture.

Matt Hardy - There aren't words in the english language (or french or spannish languages) to describe how happy I am to see them using Matt Hardy again. I just hope to god they don't have him carry Kain, only to get squashed...I'm also worried he might go back to being his old generic self, without a chance to have a character, now that he's not a heel. With his Mattitude angle, he was awesome...I'm worried they're gonna drop that.

Ric Flair - just to continue from the other thread, yes, Ric shouldn't be wrestling anymore. He's only going through the motions now, no matter how hard he works, and should be strictly a manager (he's still awesome on the mic). He's still got a place in the company though...perhaps as a trainer or road agent in later years? The sheer depth of knowledge Ric Flair could give to other wrestlers is beyond belief.

Shawn Michaels - needs to stop hogging the spotlight, and realise his era came and went. This is the era of Benoit, and he needs to realise that.

Shelton Benjamin - give him the IC title, and I'll be a happy little Sera-chan.

Big Show - works hard in the ring, but will NEVER be a good worker...we all know that. However, I'm pleased to see they're finally using him as the monster he was built to be. He's more a storyline character than an in ring character, but I'm interested to see where things are going with him.

Bradshaw - Get...him...off....my...telivion...now. Worst....wrestler...in...company...right...now.

Eddie Guererro - the current god of Smackdown, and the best worker in the world at the moment.

John Cena - I'm still liking Cena...however, there seems to be a distinct possibility he's more over than anyone else in the company right now, short of Mick Foley huh.gif In fact, I'd give him even odds of getting louder pops than Eddie right now...which isn't something I want to see. As much as I like Cena, I want Eddie to get his dues as champion first, as he's had it coming just as much as Benoit.

Kurt Angle - I hate him as GM, because they don't let him add lib....He's medically cleared to wrestle by all accounts, so I would rather see him back in the ring. I find the wheelchair angle it pretty bad taste too...especially the comment about his wife on the last episode of Smackdown...there's a boundary where shock value should stop huh.gif

Paul London - another guy who I stand amazed to see is not given more tv time...

Nobody else really gives me anything to think about right now...

And Krow, thank you for the pic tongue.gif It shall join the others in the temple of Jericho thumbsup.gif
The Krow
I'm really likeing the whole Edge/Benoit Tag Team thing...but, what'd be awsome...If Foley gets more matches of the quality of match that he had with guys like HHH and Undertaker(Hell in a Cell)

ok what about peoples top 5 best finishing moves
mine would be:
1.F5
2.Crossface
3.Pedigree
4.Ultimo DDT
5.RKO
Dementia
Here a few of the most boring characters according to me:

1.Lita

She was getting a huge push before her injury laid her off for a really long time. When she came back, she seemed to have aged considerably and looked really bad in the ring. Personally i find her one of the most boring characters on tv.

2. Mark Henry

Well atleast he gets a unanimouse vote from everyone.

3.Dudely Boys

The matches are so cliche...

4.Bradshaw
With him headlining smackdown, this show is doomed!

5. Shawn Michaels as a Face

Hell..i wont lie, he is one of my favorites, mainly because of the nostalgia factor, but its getting to be a drag to see him every week the way he is at the moment. He's best as a heel and should stick to that.

BTW, according to various reports Lance storm might leave WWE very soon. He's not satisfied with the way his character is being handled and has voiced his discontet about it
saucy
I like the way the Undertaker is heading. Even though he's my favorite, I was getting bored with the whole motorcycle thing. He'll probably be the next champion on smackdown. I really don't see Bradshaw winning the title. One thing I'm getting tired of is all the tag matches. That seems to be what every match is these days. Also, Seraphina, what happened to Stone Cold? He just disappeared and you didn't add him to your list. Also, did Goldberg quit or something?
Seraphina
QUOTE

I don't see Bradshaw winning the title either (I certainly hope he DOESN'T!), but it Taker took the title from Eddie, it would be a huge kick in the balls to justice. Taker's on the downhill slope, and running on nostalgia, Eddie's incredibly over, and still one of the best wrestlers on the planet; if the WWE made him job to Taker, they'd really be dropping the ball.

I'm willing to admit that Taker would still make a marginally better champion than Bradshaw...although I'd rather see Eddie fueding with almost anyone else.

QUOTE

Stone Cold quite a while ago, over a contract dispute. He wanted the right to own the "Stone Cold" name, but Vince wasn't willing to let it go. As a result, Stone Cold is no longer with us.

Can't say I'm crying over it...all he did was run around backstage, drink beer, and kill people's heat by giving them endless stunners. He wasn't doing a thing to lift people's career like the Rock or Mick Foley, and has just become a negative influence in the writing.

As for Goldberg...he left ages ago, right after his match with Brock. He's in Japan right now, and being overpushed there too tongue.gif I'm hoping he ends up wrestling somebody who works Kings Road Style, and gets so badly beaten up he has to retire cool.gif
saucy
do you know why Goldberg left?
Seraphina
He had his reasons...he didn't like the fact that the WWE made him lose matches, made him sell (because, god knows, why should a wrestler be asked to sell his opponents moves?) and various other things.

Goldberg wanted to be booked like he was in WCW...where he's crush people far, far more talented than he was into the ground, in two minute squash matches, and would never be seen to get hurt and/or break sweat in the process. However, Vince wanted to book him as the WWE face, who would need to overcome odds in order to win.

Thanks to WCW, Goldberg actually believed his own press...he genuinenly believed that he was the greatest wrestler in the word (I wouldn't even consider him in the top one thousand), and that he had the right to squash the entire WWE locker room. Whenever he was required to sell for anyone, or have a match longer than five minutes, he compained that "it made him look weak".

Goldberg was a good example of what happens when an ego gets so inflated, the guy can't even fit his own massive swollen head into the ring, let alone wrestle a good match when he's carrying it around. I, along with the vast majority, am very pleased to see him gone.
saucy
thanks for the update. If Goldberg is going to act like that, i'm glad he's gone too!
Seraphina
Goldberg's always been famous for backstage politics...the only other guys that come even close to him in badreputation are Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash....it's funny to notice that almost all the guys who think they're god's gift to the ring, also happen to be absolutely terrible wrestlers huh.gif
saucy
Speaking of kevin nash, what happened to him? Also, did Scott Steiner quit or is he injured?
Seraphina
Kevin Nash - injured, might never wrestle again. We at Seraphina Inc. are very pleased that our evil plan has come to fruition.

Scott Steiner - let me answer you question, by asking one of my own: Does anybody care about Scott Steiner?
saucy
I like his music and entrance........ blink.gif
The Krow
Scott Steiners music blew...his entrance just demonstrates how much he is only concerned with power and stregnth...Although he did have a nice suplex... huh.gif
Seraphina
I don't know what scares me most about Steiner...the fact that he looks like a poster boy for a compaign against the use of bycicle pumps on the human body, or that he's in such terrible shape he can't even do the move named after him anymore huh.gif

yes, well... Anyway, to switch topics now...I saw Eugene practice chain wrestling with Silly Willy Regal...quite impressive, as I have never seen Eugene wrestle before...He made Regal tap...with the Regal Stretch!!!

You know, it amazes me...

Do you have anything contructive (or intelligent) to say? tongue.gif Because plunging into a thread full of wrestling fans with a statement that does very little to create an impression of either knowledge of the sport, or general intelligent (and let's not forget even the vaguest sense of 'wit' rolleyes.gif) is really just waving a little flag saying "flame me".

However, as an act of peity to one less well informed and knowledge as myself, I'll allow your badly formed words to pass tongue.gif However, I'd suggest you stay out of our thread unless you actually have somthing to say.

I'd welcome a debate on whether wrestling is good entertainment or not...however, before you choose to engage me in one, I'd suggest you find an intelligent arguement (or an arguement at all) first. Otherwise, we'd like to talk about our sport of choice without ignorant people storming in and ridiculing us for it.
The Krow
...I guess no one caught my witty remark???
Seraphina
Yes we did my friend cool.gif However, as I'm sure you've learned, I take wrestling far too seriously to put aside an insult to the sport for the sake of a chuckle.

On the subject though, I'm starting to like Rico...I still detest the gimmick to no end, but he just plays it so well, it's hard not to find him entertaining blink.gif
The Krow

I do hope they're not going to have another Billy/Chuck thing start between those two though...Charlie's reaction to Rico's...eagerness...are far funnier than inuendo ever was huh.gif

Granted, it's going to get old really quick...I think the comedy element Rico brings to the table is going to lose its charm too. If they can milk it for what it's worth, fair enough, but they do need to be thinking ahead about what they're gonna do with it.

Sort of like Too Cool and their dancing...most people liked it at first (I didn't, but oh well), but they just went so long with the same damn thing every single week, that only the most potatoe shaped of couch fans were still cheering it.

Just wanted to let you all know that Mark ran into the wrestler Chris Jericho at the recording studio. Chris is working at the same studio prepping his next release with his band Fozzy. Hi there; I don't know if just anyone is welcome on your thread but I love wrestling and I'd like to toss my 2 cents in. I've heard a lot of talk about how bad it would be if Bradshaw won the title but I don't think it would be so terrible. He's been a good , solid worker for years and hes' never gotten any kind of push. He's probably just about to leave the company anyway what with all the new career options he has, why not let him go out with a bang. I don't think he'd be a very good choice for a long-term champion but where's the harm in letting have a couple weeks of glory before his times' up? It wouldn't take away from Eddies' standing if he lost the title for a week or two and then regained it.

QUOTE

The problem with Bradshaw becoming the champion is because he's not a solid worker...throughout his entire career, he's been working at the same substandard level, never making any attempt to lift his game whatsoever.

He's horribly stiff...he makes no attempt whatsover to protect the safety of his opponents, and it actually make it almost fortunate that his move set is so ridiculously limited (I've been training for three weeks, and I already can demonstrate more moves than Bradshaw has in his in ring career). A dread to even think what would happen if Bradshaw tried a german suplex...broken necks all round, ladies and gentlemen.

His sloppyness, however, is not the worst of it...not only is he barely able to perform the moves he actually can do (such as they are), but the fans (and the WWE locker room) don't want to see him as Champion...

The fans, as they directly told the WWE, wanted John Cena as number one contender. Bradshaw, as a matter of fact, recieved one of the, if not THE lowest score in that pole. In pushing Bradshaw (and certainly making him champion) the WWE would be activly going against what the vast majority of the fans want to see. They're catapulting a talantless midcarder into the main event from nowhere, and honestly expecting to make money off of it!?

Let's not forget the fact that he's in horrible physical shape, and I'd be very surprised if he's able to wrestle longer than ten or fifteen minutes with his workrate plummiting to never before seen depths.

If Eddie was forced to carry Bradshaw to the only good match the man's ever had, then lose the title that he's worked at a world class level for years on end to gain, then I'd honestly expect a tidal wave of complaints to go the WWE's way.

Falco Rex
Well when you put it like that I can't possibly find a good enough argument to continue debating the point. Nice Job. wink2.gif

So to change the subject; who's everyones' favorite all-time heel. I've gotta go with another unpopular choice and say The Big Boss-man. I mean c'mon; cooking Al Snows' Dog? Making the Big Show chase after his Fathers' Coffin ? Those are the kind of things Heels just don't do anymore. I've hardly ever seen a Heel that could generate as much hatred as Ol' Boss....
Seraphina
QUOTE
Those are the kind of things Heels just don't do anymore.

Yeah...there's a reason for that tongue.gif

My favourite heel of all time...hmm....Triple H, as he was in 2000. I'm a latecomer to the scene of wrestling, and while I've backtracked a lot, it was really Triple H's performance as the DESERVING main heel at that time that brought me into it.

For a start, that was back at a time when he was putting on world class match after a world class match...but more than that, he was putting effort into his promos...he was doing things that were truly EVIL to the Rock (and not things in horribly poor taste, like the later "manaquin" incident), and actually made me care about seeing the Rock get even.

It's just a pity he's changed so much now, both in ability and attitude disgust.gif
