During last night's SmackDown!, WWE promoted the 9/5 house show and potentially revealed the outcome to the Orton vs. Benoit match.
The commercial promoted the match as a Texas Death Match and implied Orton would be defending the title. Obviously, that would be a huge hint that Randy Orton will walk out of Summerslam with the title around his waist.
It should be noted that other advertisements listed Chris Benoit as the champion after Summerslam, so this is not a lock by any means. What is known for certain, though, is that WWE is indeed heavily considering an Orton title reign.

RAWs future plot lines several months before they happen;
QUOTE
Rumors have been floating around regarding Randy Orton and Chris Benoit’s match at the upcoming Summerslam PPV. Rumors state that Randy Orton will in fact defeat Chris Benoit thus becoming the new Heayweight Champion, and then take a babyface turn. The working plan now is for Orton to win the WWE Title and defend it against Triple H at WrestleMania 21, but sources say the plan is for Hunter to be the babyface during that match.
There has also been talk that Edge would be involved in a double-turn with Orton, perhaps as soon as Summerslam. There have been rumors for months now that Edge will turn heel, and some consideration was given to having him feud with Chris Benoit. It's possible that Edge will replace Hunter in Evolution, but it doesn't sound like there was anything to the rumors involving a double-turn with him and Orton.

Also some news of Brock;

Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman and former WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar impressed many during a scrimmage against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lesnar sacked quarterback Damon Huard and also recorded four tackles. Lesnar was also in the middle of a scuffle during the scrimmage.
Minnesota coaches say that Lesnar is making impressive strides, but still has a lot to learn. This is certainly a fantastic start for Lesnar, who says he hasn't been this excited since he won the NCAA wrestling title in 2000. |
SOCK IT TO THOSE PANSIES!
And on the big angry Geman vs the decreped Zombie;
QUOTE
Plans are for Undertaker to feud with John Heidenreich following the upcoming Summerslam PPV. McMahon is said to be sold on Heidenreich, but also considers this to be make-or-break time. Observers state that Heidenreich hasn't really improved in the ring since his last run with the company (he worked on Raw as "Big" John Heidenreich and made references to a "Little Johnny" character that never materialized). However, Heidenreich is very popular with the guys backstage, but as one source put it, "He just doesn't have it. There isn't a long line in the locker room of wrestlers who are eager to carry him in matches.”

Quite frankly, at the same time Shawn O'Hair wasn't being pushed, Benoit and Eddie weren't being pushed either...I'm much happier seeing them being given a ball to carry than O'Hair.
Granted, those were particuarly spikey and "we're gonna screw up your title run" balls, but at least Eddie and Benoit carried them with everything they had

A lot of people have recently been trying to spread the word that Ted Turner will be starting a wrestling company in the future. Though, in a recent interview on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, Turner said that he no longer has the money to begin some of the projects that he would like to do. Turner was once one of the top five richest people in the U.S., and is now the 73rd and worth a little over $1 billion. Since when is $1 billion "not enough money?"

God, if I was that rich I'd fund my own animation studio in Glasgow, bring over a lot of Japanese talent to teach Scots how to make Japanese style cartoons and the then buy out the rights to Magical Project S and make a second series that ends in the way the first one should have.

QUOTE
HHH had originally wanted to wrestle Randy Orton at Wrestlemania last year but he recognized that it was way too early for Orton. The booking plan last year was to have Orton win a feud against Mick Foley late in the year, and then Shawn Michaels, with the feeling that it would get him ready to wrestle HHH at Wrestlemania. That of course didn't happen though, as the Foley feud was delayed until Wrestlemania.
Which ment if is was up to HHH, Beniot would have never seen the championship.

There is a lot of internal feeling that if the finish to the Benoit/Orton match at Summerslam involved Edge, it would possibly tip off the fact that JBL's title defense against the Undertaker would be similar in that Heidenreich and Paul Heyman would cost Undertaker the title. It is still unknown whether JBL or Undertaker will be going over in the match but should JBL retain, that is the scenario at the moment.

He struck me there in much the same way he did in WWE: Unexceptional. He was always just: "the big guy that can move"
At the end of the day, even a horrible booking won't affect how a guy performs in the ring. Someone with a whole lot of talent is capable, at the very least, of making themselves look good, if not their opponent. I can understand Shawn O'Hair never being able to carry Rikishi (Rikishi was terrible), but he didn't seem able to even pull his own weight during their matches...or any match he was placed in.
