| April, 12 2001 Title Won: WWF Intercontinental Championship Won From: Triple H Location: Philadelphia, PA Held until: April 17, 2001 Lost To: Triple H Summary: It is considered one of the biggest upsets in World Wrestling Federation history. Angry over the Two Man Power Trip's attack on Lita that Monday on RAW, Jeff Hardy attacked Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley on the April 12, 2001, episode of SmackDown!, leading into an IC Title match later that night against Triple H. Up to this point, Jeff had been thought of as primarily a tag-team competitor. But thanks to interference by his brother, Matt, Jeff pinned The Game's shoulders to the mat to become Intercontinental Champion! His reign would be short-lived, however, as Triple H regained the title the following Monday on RAW. WWFTitleHistory.com |

| Rena Mero, who performed for WWE as Sable, was released today according to two sources. WWE still has her listed on their website on the Smackdown roster and hasn't officially reported that she is no longer with the company. Mero spoke out against WWE's treatment of women in an article in the Fort Wayne Gazette last Friday. When Roddy Piper spoke out against WWE on an HBO special, he was released shortly thereafter. There is some speculation that she purposely made these comments in order to get fired so she could spend more time with boyfriend Brock Lesnar. WWE.com has added a brief note confirming that she is no longer with the company. |

Shane McMahon and Bret Hart have numerous meetings with Shane McMahon about a DVD that will be released by WWE. Many in the WWE locker room are concerned with how Rob Van Dam has been used over the past few months. RVD is yet to be added to the SummerSlam pay-per-view, which is this Sunday. |

| Ever since the implementation of the new dress code, WWE management has received many complaints. Several individuals feel that the dress code, which requires wrestlers to dress in a business like manner while traveling to and from events, is an unfair burden on wrestlers who already face a tough travel schedule. During a recent show in Corpus Christi, where the temperature ranged from 100 degrees, wrestlers were required to comply with the dress code while everyone else around them was wearing shorts and t-shirts. |

He also mentioned that Orton's a technical wrestler much like himself and he's confident that he will make Orton tap out. |

| With this week's dismal 3.2 RAW rating, many within the company were shocked by such a low rating, especially heading up to the SummerSlam PPV. Some feel that those working with the RAW brand are becoming too nearsighted and aren't seeing the obvious flaws with the product that the fans are seeing. Others blame the 16% drop from the previous week on the NFL Pre-Season Hall of Fame game that was played on Monday, however in previous years the RAW rating for the same week improved or stayed the same from the week before so that theory can be tossed out. Whatever the reason, things aren't looking too good heading into one of the biggest PPV events of the year for the WWE. |

| Batista likely won't be winning the IC Title at Summerslam as TV ads for the live Raw taping in Beaumont, Tex. on September 3 advertise Edge vs. Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title, so one of those two will apparently win the three-way IC Title match at Summerslam. The ad also plugged that a Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton rematch was also booked for the show. |

| Following Summerslam, John Heidenreich will be feuding with the Undertaker. Vince McMahon is pretty sold on Heidenreich, and considers this to be make-or-break time for him. Many have noted that Heidenreich had not improved much of his in-ring work since his run on RAW as "Big" John Heidenreich. While Heidenreich is considered a very nice guy and is pretty popular among some locker room circles, many feel that he just does not have what it takes, and there are not many wrestlers backstage that are eager to carry him through matches. |

| In a recent interview with WWE Byte This, Matt Hardy had some unkind words for WWE's Diva Search, while articulating the viewpoint of most hardcore WWE fans. The following quote was transcribed by PWTorch.com: Well, these girls already have an uphill battle to begin with because the WWE fans are WWE fans and that's what they come in to the arenas to see, that's what they tune in their TV to see. And I understand the concept behind it [but] I don't really know how successful it's going to be on that level because our WWE fans, they respect the people like myself, and people like Edge, people who have busted their asses for years and years and years and really got a providing where they are and even the girls, like Lita, who's had a broken neck, or like Trish, who has got a broken hand right now, these girls who bust their ass to get where they are. Just when you have some people walk in who seem like their models off the street and maybe using the WWE to head into something else, it'll be hard for the girls to garner respect. So, as far as the concept, I understand it. As far as generating interest and trying to put some pretty girls on TV to be the next diva, as far as our fans respecting it, I don't know." |

"Every mode in the game has been improved upon, and a couple of new modes have been added as well, such as create a pay-per-view, create a championship, and challenge mode." Ledesma declined to say whether the game would be available in an online format. |

| After much speculation, PWTorch.com reports that the official reason for Sable's release was not any single issue speculated earlier. Apparently, Sable had asked for a reduced schedule; a demand that WWE was not interested in meeting. Combined with the fact that she wanted a reduced schedule, her ties with Brock Lesnar and interview comments did not help the situation. The feeling, however, is that the interview definitely would not have led to her release without either of the other two factors. WWE not only monitored the interview as it was being completed, but aims to allow their workers 'controlled free speech.' In fact, despite common belief, the internal reason for Roddy Piper's past release was not his HBO interview, but the fact that he was miserable while performing his job. |

As previously reported here on PWInsider.com, WWE has been planning on Shawn Michaels returning at Summerslam, but it had been made clear that Michaels would not be appearing until his wife gave birth (her due date was 8/8). It would appear that the road is now clear for Michaels to appear on Sunday at the PPV, presumably to get involved in the Kane-Matt Hardy match. We will have more on this story as it becomes available. |

| Apparently, WWE is afraid of a potential relationship developing with talent and contestants. Firstly, they don't want any sexual harassment situation, nor do they want a married wrestler getting involved with one of the divas, which could escalate into a blackmail situation. Finally, in terms of fairness, they don't want the possibility of one of the divas "sleeping" her way to the contract, so to speak. |

| Lita's music hit in the arena and she made her way out to the ring and she looked to be showing a little bit, as said by Jerry Lawler and then Matt Hardy made his way out and this is a one on one match with Matt Hardy facing Kane in this "Till Death Do Us Part" Match. Summer Slam 2004 is going to go down in history because one of the most talented, charismatic and best looking WWE Superstars is going to ascend to greatness tonight. Tonight will be... John Cena was seen standing by and he said that tonight will be the night that the Franchise opens shop on Booker T's ass. John told Randy that he's going to look nice and he's a fan of his too and he knows he has fans out there but let's see how many fans he has out there. John asked the fans if they like Randy Orton and the fans booed. John then asked the crowd if Randy Orton is going to beat Chris Benoit for the World Championship? The crowd booed and John said "welp, at least you have the people behind you. Hah." Randy then said that he doesn't care what a bunch of ass backward Canadians think and he doesn't care what John Cena thinks. Quite frankly, it's a bit pathetic that John Cena had to interrupt Randy's interview to get some airtime. None the less, tonight, Randy Orton is going to leave Toronto as the youngest World Heavyweight Champion... ever. |

It seems like every time we have one of these RAW/Smackdown! joint pay per views, he's dealing with another General Manager of Smackdown!. What is he now, number four? There was Stephanie McMahon, Paul Heyman, Kurt Angle and now him. Eric said he wanted to give him some advice; learn as much as he can and enjoy it as long as he can because at the rate we are going, by the time Survivor Series rolls around, let's just say he doubts Theodore will be around. Don't take it personally, it's just reality. Theodore said that he can appreciate that, just like Eric can appreciate this. Tonight, Theodore doesn't know whether his nephew Eugene will beat Triple H or not or if Eric will succeed in getting rid of him but if he ever does, then Theodore has no problem signing Eugene to Smackdown! and making him the biggest Superstar ever. That not only goes for Eugene but that goes for every Superstar on RAW that are sick of Eric Bischoff and they want out. Now that's nothing personal, that's just reality. You feel me? However, he ends up going face first into the security wall, allowing Orton to take control. Orton continues the work on Benoit's neck, hitting him with a neck-wringer. Orton then gets a modified camel clutch on Benoit, exerting pressure on his neck. Benoit's working his way out of Orton's hold, and breaks free with some elbows, however Orton keeps control with a European uppercut. Orton then turns a gut wrench into a backbreaker. The crowd loved the move. Orton puts Benoit in a hold once again. Benoit gets up and hits Orton with chops. They then go off the ropes and collide with cross bodies in the center of the ring. Both men are down. Benoit hits Orton with some suplexes and keeps in control with more chops. Benoit goes upstairs, seemingly trying for a superplex, but Orton shoves him off onto his back. Orton then hits Benoit with a huge cross body, but only for two. Benoit gets another belly-to-back suplex and puts Orton in a sharpshooter. Benoit pulls the move in very tightly, and Orton cannot get the ropes. Orton finally gets the bottom rope, getting some time to relax. Benoit goes over to Orton and gets yet another German Suplex, make that six German suplexes. Benoit signals that the end is near and goes up top for a flying headbutt. However, Orton lifts his knees and counters Benoit's attack. Orton goes for a pin, but only gets a two-count. Benoit then gets a quick Crippler Crossface in on Orton. Orton's able to roll out of the hold and elbows Benoit in the face. Benoit tries to get another crippler, but Orton hits the RKO for the win. |

| I'm also VERY interested to see how Orton's winning the belt is going to affect Evolution. Will HHH start to covet it, and start trying to undermine Orton to get it? Will Orton decide to "kill" two more legends- HHH and Ric Flair? There are possibilities here for interesting stories to be told. |

| I was kinda disappointed in the Undertaker/JBL match. I much prefered JBL when he was part of APA with Farooq. |

| It's age....Taker was never a 'great' wrestler to start with anyway, he was a great character. He's just had to slow down, and tone down, in recent years so much that he has to be carried to anything even remotely like a decent match. |
