For those of you who watched Muhammad Hassan vs. Chris Benoit on Monday's RAW, you will have noticed there seemed to be a problem toward the finish, when Benoit hit his flying headbutt onto Hassan, who was holding the ring bell.

The original schedule for the match would have been seen Chris Benoit hit the ringbell when he attempted the flying headbutt, allowing Hassan to get the pin.

Hassan didn't have the bell in the correct position so WWE quickly changed things backstage to change the ending of the match to a DQ finish.

Management were apparently unhappy with the finish of the match as they wanted to push Hassan's undefeated streak. There has been some talk that Hassan may face Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 21 but take that rumor with a pinch of salt right now.

You know, as much as everyone on this thread seems to be really marking out for Hassan (I havn't seen enough of him to judge)...isn't Chris Jericho about the only person he's wrestled? huh.gif

Before we start calling for him to get an IC title match, shouldn't we first want to see him in a match with someone who didn't carry Goldberg, of all people, to a good match, to make sure he doesn't absolutely suck? tongue.gif

The Logic of that is true..

Before a guy gets a title shot .. . give him a fued with one or more people to establish his credentials, makes perfect complete sense .. however

Batista - getting a title shot without a fued - he's had matches with Jericho and Benoit, but he hasnt had someone to face over the course of a feud. Don't get me wrong by the way, Im a fan of Big Dave . . . but he's basically starting at the top.. long term this can cause problems imo

JBL - Went from a Tag Team wrestler who lost his last match . . to getting a title Shot for the World title . . .

Why shoudl hassan be any different ?

Don't get me wrong . . Id want Hussan in a feud with someone over a period of time.. There are rumours of a Hogan/Hassan match at WM21 .. but that won't be a feud...

The thing about Batista is, however, that he has been built up....not in a conventional manner, but he's been standing beside Triple H for some time now, functioning as the "enforcer" for Evolution. Even before he was in his main event run, he was pushed as something of an unstoppable monster.

Thanks to this build up, fued or not, Batista is a believable main eventer...that, and he's been around long enough, and faced enough opponents, that we know he's not completely dead weight in the ring (which was more my focus than build up. Hassan, as everyone seems to like him, has obviously been build up quite well...my concern is whether he's actually worth it in the ring or not).

QUOTE

Oh, don't get me started on how irritated I am about JBL and his monster push out of the blue, at the expense of proven heels like Booker T....horrible, horrible booking. Bradshaw not only wasn't over, but hell, we knew he was dead weight in the ring anyway, which makes his push doubly inexcusable huh.gif

QUOTE

I doubt he will be. The WWE makes a habit of pushing talentless slobs, and making talented guys (such as Jericho) do the work of ten men to get a decent match out of them. I'm just wondering why everyone's marking out for him as much as they have, before we've seen him in a position where his skills are actually put to the test.

It also won't be pretty....that'll be the part of the show where I take a toilet break tongue.gif

I can almost smell the patriotism.
Seraphina
Patriotism? huh.gif I'm Scottish tongue.gif I despise Hulk Hogan tongue.gif
Subtemperate
.....So then you like Rowdy Roddy Piper? wink2.gif grin2.gif
Mervyn
PIPER RULES ! ! ! ! ! ! grin2.gif

He's Canadian btw original.gif

And no , any Match with Hogan/Hassan could never be pretty . . but it would be so over the top is would be funny as heck original.gif

QUOTE
Does anyone have anything nice to say about Sean O'Haire?

I think he had a pretty good gimmick at first but the he got paired with Roddy Piper for some reason and it all went downhill from there.

QUOTE
having HBK lose a match at this point would seriously hurt the build up for his match with Angle.

I still think if Angle cost HBK the match it would have added more fuel to feud, and a win to Edge

QUOTE

Actually when they aired RAW a second time they had a different angle and with the angle it looked like Chris Benoits head hit the bell.

Well Snitsky has gotten 3 title shots in a row, but Hassan's ok in the ring, but since all these new guys like Snitsky, Tomko, Heidenreich, ect suck in the ring they make this new guy look amazing

Yes, as proven by his terrible attempt at a Scottish accent tongue.gif

While I do think that would have been a good build up...it doesn't make any sense: Shawn has far more reason to come after Kurt (invade Smackdown) than Kurt does to come after him (it was Kurt, after all, who "injured" Shawn, not the other way round).

QUOTE

Yeah and Shawn should have invaded Smackdown, it would have made more sense for him to cost Angle the number 1 contenders match to try to get even.
Mervyn
Ive never heard him try to put on a scottish accent . . think that's his canadian accent your hearing original.gif

As for Shawn . . he'll show up on SD soon enough original.gif
Seraphina
I think a lot of people expected HBK to do a run in during that match, yeah...although it might have hurt Cena's push to have him be seen needing help to beat Angle...

Maybe if Shawn had done a run in after the match was over...or even just appeared to provoke Angle, there would have been far more direct reason to have Kurt invade RAW and cost Shawn a match.
Mervyn
I think it made Angle look very Bad-ass to come into the match and beat HBK ( I like HBK getting hurt like that ) it does too things

Shows he's got an attitude . . and makes him a perfect heel . . only a coward would run in and hit them when they are down ( never hit a man when he's down by the way, kick him, it's easier grin2.gif)

Shawn's now easily the good guy, who will come back seeking revenge . .

The bad thing about Angle coming in is Edge's contribution to the whole match is now forgotten..
Subtemperate
...... Jericho got beaten by Hassan last week, and you think Edge was hurt by losing to Michaels?

At least edge's character is in the world title picture (albeit a big one).... Jericho is constantly putting over talent.....

Just like Edges part in that match will be forgotten, so will his loss be....
AtticusBlueprint
QUOTE

Yeah it did, but I don't like Angle as a bad-ass, he's best when he's the whiney little dork who thinks everyone looks up too him.

QUOTE

Maybe I'm just bitter because I died a little inside when Kurt Angle got pinned off an F-U....
Subtemperate
You died a little inside? lol..... Big Show got pinned by Spike Dudley a while back..... Undertaker tapped out....... Kane lost to Xpac......

Sure and FU is a DVD without the impact, but then again..... an angle slam is no heart breaker itself

Feh, I don't remember those things happening, so it doesn't bug me

QUOTE

When Angle gets enough force and spin into a Angle Slam it can look devastating, just like the FU used to, before Cena just put the guy on his shoulders and drop him lightly. The move looks so lazy. Cena's a strong guy he could do so much more with that move, like the Batista Bomb a fairly simple move but Batista puts so much force into it, it looks devastating almost everytime
Subtemperate
Of course Batista puts a lot of force into it, in his move he takes some of the impact.....

The only Angle Slam that ever really impressed me was the one to Shane McMahon. Dont get me wrong, i dont dislike it, but its not that much of an impressive finsher..... But...its not tombstone, yet no worm....
Seraphina
Ah, the Worm...along with the People's elbow, it's one of those finishers that I just want to pretend never existed tongue.gif
AtticusBlueprint
QUOTE
But...its not tombstone, yet no worm....

Ah, the Worm no.gif The thing about The Tombstone is it can look like best move in wrestling, but on the other hand if the person is too high up, sometimes it looks like there head doesn't even hit the mat and then is just disappointing.

I kinda want the WWE to ease up on the move restrictions though because I think there running short on impressive moves.

QUOTE

Yup, even RVD's Rolling Thunder looked better then The Worm and The People's Elbow

lol tongue.gif

yet the sad thing it's not even a finisher....
Subtemperate
yes it does hurt....Poor RVD's back.... lol
AtticusBlueprint
lol, I think it would hurt the guys chest/stomach more the RVDs back, but I cringe everytime somebody puts their knees up to the Rolling Thunder because that would kill
Mervyn
The worm IS a very effective finisher . .

Puts me to sleep every time grin2.gif
Seraphina
Actually, you'd be surprised how little it hurts taking a flip bump onto someone's knees...it's practically taking a forward roll. What certainly DOES hurt is if you don't go over with enough force, and hit your head on the canvas tongue.gif

Only if RVD actually lands on just the knees, that's a lot of force in a small area, but its the lower legs a wrestler lands on, which is a much greater area. Also the fact he's not really falling from a great height original.gif

OK no more correcting me people, if I say it hurts, it hurts disgust.gif

Ok it hurts . . but it's a delayed pain.. usually several hours, after such a move a wrestler has to be put in traction for an hour or so original.gif

Mervyn
That's true .

Nash tore his quad walking . . So did Vince Mcmahon ..

I even know a finely tuned hunk of an athlete who tore a groin muscle playing mini golf..... *cough*

QUOTE
Personal experience? or just common sense which I didn't get

Personal experience tongue.gif In fact, the most painful thing that could happen in that situation is ift Rob estimated the distance wrong, and his hips came down on the guy's legs, rather than his back. One of the fundamentals of taking a bump is that your back (preferably across the shoulders) has to land before your hips do, or you'll not only hurt yourself, but probably cause prolonged injury.
Subtemperate
Or of course you could land face first doing a flying headbutt, and actually make contact.....

Ow....CH!
Seraphina
I was took a front bump like that....I took a dropkick to the back of the head that didn't have much force behind it, but I sold it anyway...just stood realy still for a minute, then did this big tiiiiimber....fall tongue.gif Man did the landing hurt...it feels like electricity zings through your head, very nasty.
AtticusBlueprint
I remember when Raven was in the WWE, and he had the thing of after his matches he would grab the guys fingers and like "brake" em. I know it was faked but still thats a simple yet effective and creepy move.
Subtemperate
Yeah that was a little odd.... ALthough I thought he did that in WCW..... Im sure he did it to saturn in Saturn's turn on the flock....

He really isn't half bad, the match with Benoit was pretty good, too. Until the nonsense with the ring bell and all. Plus, he's a genius on the microphone.
Subtemperate
He was alright, although I think Genius is a bit far...... When you have to be negative, its a lot easier to convey yourself then when being a face....... Which is why many wrestlers prefer being a heel.......

However he is pretty reasonable on the mic, but lets wait until he actually has something different to say..... before judging his ability.....

And on that note..... I find it amusing that the crowd Chanted USA in a match with Chris Benoit vs Hassan..... as if im not mistaken.... Hassan was the ONLY one from the USA....lol
snuffypuffer
Look, dammit, it may be hyperbole, but I dig Hassan, and I'll defend to the discomfort my right as an American to dig Hassan, however moderate to good his mic and ring skills may be. disgust.gif
Subtemperate
lol.....I never said I didnt like hassan....did I?

snuffypuffer
No, no you didn't. I like Christian, too, you know...
Subtemperate
lol....doesnt everyone?

Im all for hassan being in the IC title hunt. And Christian being in the world title hunt.....
snuffypuffer
Aw, you've made my heart smile with that, my dear man. grin2.gif
Subtemperate
As have you using hyperbole in a sentence wink2.gif lol

Although I think Jericho should be cruiserweight champion right now..... *cough*
snuffypuffer
Jericho should be wrestling for the World title right now. In fact, he and Christian should be having a series...
