CMLL is fun stuff though . . I can't understand what they are saying either. . but the crowds are always great ! !
The Krow
Mar 19 2005, 12:15 AM
of course the crowds are great...
They never have barriers around the ring, so the fact that the crowd can participate and, due to the fact that there are no security guards near ringside, crowd participation is almost encouraged.

so, anybody happen to catch RAW??? Or Smackdown??? I fell asleep and I missed both of them...

Mar 20 2005, 08:01 PM
I just....didn't watch 'em

I find I'm doing that fairly often nowadays...it's not that I don't enjoy wrestling anymore (I'm still an avid fan, and there's no subject that'll get me talking more than wrestling)...I just...don't really find anything to keep me coming back to the WWE at the moment.
I also blame the fact that the timeslot keeps changing. I'm not even sure what day RAW is on anymore

It used to Friday...then it became Thursday...now I think they show it live on monday

I'm not sure

I know how you feel Sera....
Raw went from being on friday night, to wednesday night to wednesday day....... 3.30pm is not a timeslot I seem to remember. It has a replay at midday on saturday..... but saturdays at midday im not often home in the middle of the day.....

I could get free PPV's too......well not legally
Talon
Mar 20 2005, 11:32 PM
Over here its just a case that wrestling PPVs just don't sell enough and we don't really have PPV culture for anything other than Football or Boxing. Vince was demanding about a year ago that Sky1 should make all their big shows PPV's, but Sky just kept arguing that those wreslting PPV's which are order just don't sell over here, we just don't have a culture which accepts that. Vince kept on going on about if he'd done it in the US and Canada, then he could do it in the UK too and that he knew what he was doing. But Sky hasn't done anything yet, so obviously they knew fine well Vince had no idea how it works in Europe and just ignored him.

As for the PPV'S .. I don't get them at all as I don't have Digital Cable.. so I have to go out to see em, or wait for the DVD..

I've only been to one live show, a SD house show in Glasgow. Scots are crazy fans, we were giving the ring announcer standing ovations. Plus they brought out the trainer Fit Finely to fight Jamie Noble, and the crowd when insane.
Seraphina
Mar 21 2005, 01:12 AM
Ah, the standing O for the ring announcer...that was weird...
"Tony! Tony! Tony!"
Which is weird, because I don't really like him

But yes...that was a very...interesting crowd. But one thing's for sure, they weren't cheering Tony when he announced that we could see the WWE again "in Birmingham!"

I seem to remember those got the biggest heat of the night, more so that an of the heels.
I mean, what did they think was going to happen "We'll be back in your area soon, please buy tickets, you just have to go to another country to do so". They might as well have advertised for their next tour in Germany or France.
Seraphina
Mar 21 2005, 01:26 AM
I actually think Bradshaw got the biggest heat of the night

Sad...really sad...the week before his world title push started, he was beaten clean by Billy Kidman at a house show in Glasgow...I so wish someone wound point that out on air...
Kidman for champ!
Talon
Mar 21 2005, 01:42 AM
It must have been the constant shouts from that guy with the weird accent ('You suck Bradshaw') which put him off

Booker T's real life wife Sharmell Sullivan, who was known best as Paisley and a Nitro Girl in WCW, is apparently being brought back for at least a few weeks in an angle with Heidenrich and Booker T. The planned storyline will be a kidnapping angle of some sort.
Sharmell was shown quite a bit on camera on Smackdown on Thursday not to mention that Tazz actually brought up her past as a Nitro Girl. Also, on WWE.com, they have a photo of her from Smackdown. Considering that they showed "a fan" so prominently on TV and they rarely do that, there had to be an ulterior motive. When Booker's match was done, she wasn't at her seat anymore, so thus she was actually a part of the show and not really as a fan.
Sharmell has previous experience in WWE in that she was a backstage announcer in late 2001 and early 2002 on Smackdown while training to eventually come become a wrestler. Unfortunately, she broke her ACL in April 2002 while wrestling for Ohio Valley Wrestling and in the summer of 2002 Sharmell was fired while injured along with some other developmental wrestlers in a cost cutting measure.
Sullivan was a valedictorian in high school not to mention a former Miss Black America. She wed Booker T last month and was said to be running his clothing store in Texas while he was away on the road. It looks like Booker T will need to hire a new person, for at least a few weeks.
Smackdown, ever with the fresh storylines....

As much as that might be interesting...it might hurt the programming for a while. People would spend all their time waiting for "what is Austin going to do"

They'd probably think it was an angle, rather than his new job, and not pay as much attention to the guys in the ring.

hey, who said we liked the King either?

Personally, I think the best union the WWE has had in recent years were the brief spats of Tazz and JR, and of course Paul Heyman and JR....although I put that down more to Tazz and Heyman than JR. I'm not very fond of JR...not just because of his love of "hosses", but I just find he's been saying the exact same thing, in every single match, for the past couple of decades

Heyman obviously can do the job...although I'd rather see him as a character on screen...and as for Tazz...well, he does exactly what he's supposed to do, and adds a bit of colour of the match. Which is very, very fortunate, as he's sitting next to Michael 'Monotone' Cole
