Shinya Hashimoto passed away at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday morning in Yokohama, Japan. No other details are available at this moment. He was 40. Hashimoto, a many time IWGP champion and Hall of Famer, had, along with Hulk Hogan, headlined more successful huge live pro wrestling events than any wrestlers in the history of the business. He had been out of action for several months after shoulder surgery. We have no details on the cause of death.

Combat Zone Wrestling announced Saturday night that their Fourth Annual Tournament of Death has been moved to the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday 7/30 with a 3 PM belltime. Announced thus far for the event is John Zandig vs. Eddie Kingston & Robby Mireno in a handicap bout plus Nick Gage competing. For ticket information, visit www.CZWrestling.com. The TOD had traditionally been held in the State of Delaware.

According to several sources, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission agreed to lifting sanctions regarding barbed wire and glass several hours before the announcement, giving way for the Tournament of Death to be a full strength CZW-style "Ultraviolent show" with those elements, among others, being utilized during matches.

In November 2002, the Commission began enforcing more stringent rules regarding the use of weapons in professional wrestling, banning barbed wire light tubes, fighting in the crowd, and bleeding in the crowd. The fighting in the crowd aspect had been loosened up since that decision, although matches have been stopped for barbed wire and bleeding in the crowd at various points since the 2002 edict.

The initial issues came up during the height of the Philadelphia independent wrestlign wars, when the city was a hotbed for companies including CZW, the now-defunct XPW, 3PW, and Ring of Honor, among others. XPW's debut event in August 2002 caused a woman with ties to the Commission to lodge a complaint about excessive blood after bloody wrestlers brawled into the women's restroom. The final straw for the commission appeared to have been a November 2002 CZW death match between Wifebeater and John Zandig which saw a weedwhacker and a ring filled with light tubes used, as it was directly after that bout that the sanctions were issued.

CZW and the Commission negotiated an agreement about using the "banned aspects" with the Commission signing off just shortly before the official announcement. The door had been opened by the Commission allowing Hardcore Homecoming (Terry Funk vs. Sabu vs. Shane Douglas no ropes barbed wire match) and WWE (JBL vs. Big Show Steel Cage with Barbed Wire) at the same time they were preventing similar events at CZW events. The day after the Homecoming barbed wire bout, the Commission actually stopped a CZW bout taking place in the same venue for utilizing barbed wire.

CZW also announced a no ropes barbed wire match that would take place on Saturday 8/13 at the ECW Arena, featuring the H8 Club taking on Necro Butcher and Toby Klein.

I can say one thing if i go to see a wrestling promotion i am not there to see people impaled on barbed wire, or set on fire. I am there for the wrestling.

CZW is about half a step up from backyard wrestling. In other words, it's a bunch of fat idiots, trying to make up for their inability to wrestle by hitting each other with as many weapons as possible.

In other words, it's a federation full of clones of the Sandman.

The Dudley Boyz make their first return to the ring since departing from WWE at WrestleReunion in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania at the Valley Forge Convention Center on Sunday, August 28th. Bubba & D-Von will face Matt Hardy & Rhyno, they are also both scheduled to take part in an autograph session that weekend.

The following is from WWE.com:

D-Von Dudley refused to comment on WWE’s decision to part ways with himself and Bubba Ray Dudley. When asked if he would change his mind and talk at a future date, D-Von said, “I don’t think I’ll change my mind, ever.” Bubba Ray Dudley has yet to respond to an interview request WWE.com left on his voice mail on Monday. WWE.com hopes to have Bubba Ray’s comments, if he’s willing to talk, posted soon.

Despite a report recently that negotiations between Sabu and WWE cooled off, there are some who believe Sabu might actually end up signing a limited dates WWE deal. Due to the melee of conflicting reports, that is not confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Maven is reportedly expected to pursue a career in acting.

In order to prolong his angle with Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio actually came up with the idea to do the "secret" storyline with his son.

WWE posted a note about the Undertaker/Muhammad Hassan angle on SmackDown! on their "parents" website last week. It reads as follows:

"As many you may know, the characters Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari are U.S. citizens of Arab descent who have grown up in America. Hassan and Daivari have spoken out about the challenges and poor treatment they have faced being Arab-Americans in a post 9/11 America. They have taken these complaints, and the way they express them, to the extreme, insulting their country, their fellow Americans and the U.S. troops to the point where they have drawn the resentment of their fellow Superstars and WWE fans. Hassan now dresses in Arab garb as a way to express his dissatisfaction with America.

Hassan has grown increasingly frustrated in the WWE, believing that the powers that be are unfairly preventing him from getting a fair opportunity to challenge for a WWE title. He now uses his Arab heritage as an excuse for why he is not getting more opportunities to compete for a title. Hassan now believes that he deserves an opportunity to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship. Tonight, Hassan intensifies his quest to get that opportunity.

Parents may want to watch this segment tonight with their children.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. We should all be open to the beliefs of individual Americans, recognizing that it is this diversity upon which America is based."

Matt Hardy has posted a new video on TheMattHardyShow.com with him being in a hot tub talking about today - Independance Day. Hardy talks about WWE, TNA, Ring Of Honor, ECW, and the independent scene. At the end of the video, Hardy sarcastically thanks Edge and Lita for creating a "new" Matt Hardy.

- On WWE.com, Akio's picture and title is listed across the top of Sharmell's profile. The mistake still hasn't been fixed.

During Monday's RAW, Matt Hardy returned in a "worked shoot" angle that saw him "invade" the program (twice) to attack Edge.

After the fight was broken up, Hardy vowed to make the lives of Lita and Edge a living hell. He then said that WWE could "kiss his ass" and plugged his upcoming appearance with Ring Of Honor.

In the days leading up to the return, Hardy had been extra critical of the company, in an obvious attempt to swerve the fans. Monday also marked the end of Hardy's 90-day no-compete clause with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Ok.... what is going on now?

Bah, some of these storylines are just not making any sense anymore, what ever happened to one wrestler just not liking another or turning on a former mate, it at least made sense. lol!

See thats why I wonder sometimes when the wrestler involved in such an off the record thing, is one who has good knowledge of the internet and its uses.....

Now I wonder whether it was a work in the first place, given that Matt suddenly appears on WWE when his clause is run out.....

Could they have come up with an off the record way to come up with a new fan favourite?

The following is a huge post by Matt Hardy from his message board on TheMattHardy.com:

If you guys are ready for a ride, jump the f*ck on. Well, I promised you all fireworks, so I hope I didn't disappoint. As of July 11th, 2005, my personal Independence Day, the Movement has begun-- and the Movement's purpose is two-fold. Purpose one--To never let anyone control what Matt Hardy says and does and thinks. Purpose two--To make Adam Copeland, Amy Dumas, and the WWE regret what they did to me, what they did to us. It's time for Matt Hardy to stand up for all the MFer's that have been chanting "We Want Matt", and "You Screwed Matt". Although you may not know this--you guys, the MFers, started the Movement months ago. I can now finally join the Movement because I am no longer controlled by the WWE. The McMahons, the Johnny Aces, and all of the WWE management can kiss my @$$. I did what I did tonight because for me to live with myself, Adam "Feces" Copeland must pay. I'm not going to let the WWE forget that they f*cked up when they released me instead of that scumbag home-wrecker. And Amy Dumas, you know what's it's like to have me as your closest ally--but you're gonna hate to see what it's like to have me as your worst enemy b*tch. Even though I didn't slash your tires FCF, slashed tires are going to be the least of your problems--Bank on it. A little message to the whore, the feces, and the horsesh*t "family" that is the WWE--Matt Hardy is like cancer, I don't go away and you won't find a cure. I thank EVERYONE that has supported me through thick and thin--I promise I will always be there for my MFers. I love you guys--and as I always say, without you, there is no me. I am going to turn a hugely negative situation into something that will benefit us. If you don't want to be able to predict what happens next, you're all in for a treat.

P.S. - If you're thinking about pressing charges Vince, I got a couple bucks, I'll fight it. Besides, I think I might have some pixs and video from a camera phone that shows your officers Rodney Kinging my @$$. My wrist is cut from the handcuffs, and I would suggest that there was a little unnecessary roughness involved in kicking me out of your building.

P.S.S. - And don't forget to catch Matt Hardy in action this Friday in Indiana, PA, this Saturday in Woodbridge, CT, and you never know where I'll show up on Sunday. And The Matt Hardy Show is so on...

In keeping with the low-profile portrayed by the announcers, WWE.com's RAW report makes absolutely no mention of Matt Hardy's attack on Edge.

WWE.com also has a video of Todd Grisham interviewing Alexis, who was the first contestant eliminated from this year's RAW Diva Search.

For those wondering, the mysterious promo that aired during RAW was for "The Boogeyman" Marty Wright. Wright, the Tough Enough contestant who lied about his age, was also the heel that got laughed at in last week's infamous OVW incident.

For those of you who read the reports and watched it all unfold on RAW last night, Matt Hardy returned and attacked Edge. As he was being carried out by security, he was shouting that he hated WWE and that he was headed to ROH. In recent weeks, many have been speculating where Hardy would wind up. So in regards to that speculation, Hardy made it clear as day that he was headed to ROH. More information on this story as it becomes available.

Matt Hardy returned to WWE on RAW last night. In what appears to be a worked-shoot style storyline, Hardy "ran-in" on Edge backstage and attacked him before being restrained by security.

Then again during the main-event, Hardy hit the ring and attacked Edge. Again the two were seperated by security, who hit the ring like it wasn't planned. Hardy got a microphone and said he'd make "Adam's" (Edge) life a living hell, and Lita's as well. He then said he hates the WWE before security again tackled him down and police "arrested" him.

Matt Hardy was carried about screaming, "I hate the WWE, I hate the WWE!"

We will have more on this story shortly.

The Blue Meanie story line seems also to show a new trend the WWE have picked up on. Create an incodent, or take one which really happeneed, spread it to the internet, let the online fans hype it for you until its all people are talking about, then turn it into an angle.

Yeah, I was surprised to see Matt Hardy on RAW...

But I'm starting to really get annoyed of how they're using John Cena. I mean we get it he's a rebel you don't have to say it 25589 times a night. It was so blatant last night though, here was pretty much all I heard when Cena was out...

JR: Cena is such a thug
Y2J: You're a thug Cena
Eric: Cena you don't listen to the rules, you're such a thug
King: That Cena is such a thug
Cena: wow I'm a thug

Even Jericho couldn't keep me interested, unlike his interaction with Carlito at the begining, this wasn't even entertaining. When Cena was a heel funny, but now he's reduced to calling Jericho: "Y2Cheap." I think the WWE are pushing Cena too hard to be the next Rock/Stone Cold, instead of letting him be himself, and it's just lazy of the writers.
Talon
I agree, he was better as a heel, it was his viscious raps which got him over
AtticusBlueprint
Yeah, they were actually pretty funny and original but now he makes gay and poo jokes. If they keep this up, I have a feeling that the older fans might turn on him.
Talon
At least he could turn heel again then

CHARLIE HAAS:

-- Charlie's theme song hits as we welcome Charlie to the air. Charlie says he is glad to join us.

-- Chuck starts out a little slow by asking about Charlie's childhood ambitions for wrestling. "It was a boyhood dream. It's all I've ever wanted to do," says Charlie. Charlie also mentions that he and his brother always used to pretend to be wrestlers before they ever got involved in it.

-- Chuck talks about Charlie's amateur wrestling experience and mentions that another amateur wrestler is set to return in Brock Lesnar. Charlie says, "Brock's a good guy, man. I've not heard if he's really coming back or not but if he is, it's for the best." Charlie then puts Brock over as being a great guy to work with citing he and Shelton feuding with Brock early in their run with WWE.

-- "They resent it thinking it's fake," says Charlie about the negative view amateur wrestlers have towards pro wrestling. Charlie feels that is starting to change a bit as guys like he, Shelton, and others break in. "Kurt Angle not only broke that door down, he kicked it down," says Charlie as he credits Kurt for opening the door for amateurs to move from the amateur ranks to the crazy world of pro wrestling.

-- James mentions that it truly is a different animal. Charlie agrees saying in amateur wrestling, your goal is to stay on your feet and pin your opponent. In wrestling, your goal is to entertain the fans. But, he does feel it is similar in the training aspect because you have to be in top physical condition to do either amateur or pro wrestling.

-- Erik asks about the way he entered the WWE as one of Kurt Angle's prospects. "Kurt's a good guy, man. He's like an old brother to us," says Charlie about Angle. He goes on to say that Kurt gave them various pointers and mentioned that Kurt called him after his release and felt bad. "He's not like the guy you see on TV," says Charlie. James mentions seeing Kurt at a charity event and realizing that he truly is a good guy and is every bit as good as people say he is because he can make a crowd of 20,000 scream "You Suck" at him yet be a wonderful guy when he is not in that spotlight.

-- Charlie says working with Shelton Benjamin as part of the World's Greatest Tag Team was a blast. He says their work ethic, something that Charlie talks extensively about during this interview, is very similar to that of Shelton's and as such, they worked as hard as they could to actually be the World's Greatest Tag Team.

-- "It's a shame they split us up so early," says Charlie. He feels they did not give them the opportunity to reach the level to be on par with the Dudley Boyz in the history books of tag team wrestling.

-- Erik makes a fantastic point mentioning the fact that the tag team division has been damaged by splitting the Basham Brothers and losing the Dudley Boyz. Charlie has a rather direct and honest response...

-- "I'll be honest with you. WWE... They have no idea what they're doing with the tag team division," says Charlie. He says at one time, they did citing the days of the Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, as well as the Dudley Boyz. He says there was a simple formula in play there. The face team, in this case the Hardy Boys, were chasing the tag titles. This formula has worked in the past with examples like the Rock & Roll Express chasing the Midnight Express or the IV Horsemen. But, today the creative team doesn't understand how to do it in Charlie's opinion.

-- "They hire these writers that haven't even ever watched wrestling, don't know anything about athleticism or playing a sport, and then they go in there and look at tag team wrestling as an opening of the card or mid card type of a draw when they could be using it to main event." Charlie goes on to say they could've made big money by having teams like he and Shelton against The Dudley Boys or the Bashams. Or, they could've had them, the All Americans, facing La Resistance at the height of the Iraq war.

-- "WWE are letting themselves down by hiring these writers that all they've done is read comic books or, if they're lucky, played chess as the most physicality they've ever had."

-- We then ask why Vince McMahon doesn't oversee the writers and explain that tag teams can draw money. "He wants yes-men. If he wanted someone that would speak up, he had that with Paul Heyman or Jim Cornette and that's why you'd see them pushed to the back."

-- Chuck asks why they are releasing all these guys, Charlie included. Charlie says, "The thing is, you're only as good as your competition and Vince bought all the competition. They tried to make competition within themselves with the different brands but it doesn't seem to be working that much."

-- Charlie explains that they are unclear about what they want to do in terms of characters. They go from straight wrestlers to guys laced in character and don't go all the way with either yet there is no in between.

-- Charlie says he misses the days when you'd be watching RAW and would flip over to Nitro or would be watching Nitro and would flip over to RAW just to see what the other was doing. He says that's what's missing and that hurts the business.

-- Charlie mentions that back in the day, guys would work for 10 to 15 years before they'd get a break. Now that there aren't really territories or other places to work, WWE expects people to just step up and be flash in the pan superstars.

-- Charlie cites examples with Triple H and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin saying they were in WCW and were let go only to go to the competition and prove WCW was wrong to let them go. "That's what's missing."

-- "That's why you pray for TNA to get something going," says Charlie. He says they have to because someone has to be competition.

-- "Maybe a bunch of us will end up working there to help out," says Charlie still on TNA. He puts over the current TNA workers saying they've worked really hard to keep the company going. He also puts over guys like Shane Douglas' backstage work saying he adds so much. He hopes TNA signs himself as well as the other guys cut from WWE as they could possibly bring it up to another level.

-- Charlie says he has learned a lot from Arn Anderson, Michael Hayes, Ricky Steamboat, Fit Finley, Gerald Brisco, and others that are current WWE agents. He says he'd love to see some of them break away from WWE and help the young talent in TNA.

-- Charlie Haas says TNA should see if Paul Heyman would jump. he says Panda should just fund it and let Paul run the company because he'd make it competition.

-- "You're married 3 weeks and then they let you go," says Charlie when asked how Jackie Gayda is responding to the release. "At least they didn't do it during the wedding or right before the wedding," he adds. "I hate to say it but it's just a bunch of BS," he says after being asked if the timing bothered him.

-- One thing about the release he is glad about is both he and Jackie were released because he knows had one been left behind, it would've been tough. James mentions Marc Mero and Sable.

-- Chuck mentions the drunken conversation he had with Rico in Las Vegas over the 4th of July holiday but mentions that even in his drunken state, he managed to pull himself together enough to have a conversation with Rico about Charlie and Jackie. Charlie says "There's another one. Everywhere you went, it was Rico, Rico. And, the WWE let him go. He's as entertaining as Blue Meanie is. Why would you let him go?"

-- James mentions you can tell how successful a gimmick is based on the number of copies you'd see on the indy scene. For example, everybody in the 80's indy scene tried to be like Hogan. There were 6,000,000 Doink the Clowns on the indy scene in the early to mid 90's. Everybody was a Michaels in the mid to late 90's. Well, there were a ton of gay characters popping up in parody of Rico. Charlie agrees with this and says perhaps all he can say, "I know."

-- Erik brings us back to the career oriented interview by asking about Wrestlemania 19 and what it was like wrestling in front of a crowd that big. "What a night," says Charlie. He puts over the fact that over 60,000 people were chanting "You Suck" at him. He also mentions a funny little bit of trivia. At Wrestlemania 19, both Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were in that match. The next year, they were both World Champions. At Wrestlemania 20, JBL was one of their opponents. A year later, he was World Champion. He says Shelton and he used to joke that whoever they'd wrestle at Wrestlemania would end up as World Champion the next year.

-- Charlie talked to Shelton just yesterday as well as Kurt. Both guys were shocked by his release. Shelton was Charlie's best man at his wedding and offered Charlie all the help he could be it money or help getting over to Japan. So, Shelton is putting him in contact with Japan.

-- Both guys were shocked because they thought there were angles that could've been done. Charlie mentioned he wanted to be traded to RAW to feud with Shelton because that would be something. James says, "That'd make sense." Charlie says, "That's the problem. It would've made sense."

-- Charlie says the above angle would've worked but because it wasn't something the writing team, or as he calls them "the young kids," didn't come up with, they didn't want it.

-- Another angle would've been to have Charlie challenge Kurt Angle in his invitational and last the full 3 minutes. Kurt would then jump him and cut off Russ' arm bands. Charlie says that should've been done because they want real life, it doesn't get more deep or real than that.

-- Charlie said he and Chris Benoit pushed for an angle over who is the most technical wrestler on Smackdown. "Evidentially, that didn't work." Charlie also says they could've just let them go longer with he and Hardcore Holly because they were getting over as a tag team and having good matches with MNM. "It was them who dropped the ball," says Charlie referring to the WWE.

-- Charlie and Jackie met and always got along well and became close. But, when they both were on Smackdown, it just clicked. "That's one thing they can't take away, I met the woman of my dreams there."

-- Charlie reflects fondly upon his wedding day talking about all the work that went into it. He says the only sad part is, and it was nothing but good times otherwise, is that will probably be the last time he has with his friends from WWE because he never really had a chance to say goodbye.

-- James and Charlie talk a little about the ECWA promotion and how he and Christopher Daniels are two guys that really stand out that came from there in the early 2000's period. Charlie puts over ECWA was a promotion everybody in the Dele ware area needs to check out.

-- Charlie wants to work Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles. He talks more about how big he is on the prospect of going to TNA.

-- James mentions the horrible angle from Armageddon where Charlie calls both Dawn Marie and Jackie Gayda "sluts" and runs out on them only to be a face a few months later unexplained. Charlie says, "That's a writer named Dave Lagana. He came up with the idea to have me sleeping with both of them. I said, "Well, where do we go from there?" "Oh, we'll just get you away from them." There you are! There's the brilliant mind of a creative writer. Dave Lagana! Good job Dave!" Charlie then starts sounding mildly annoyed thinking back at how he should've turned heel at that point.

-- Charlie, still on the creative team, blasts them for shooting down ideas that some guys have when it is usually the guys' idea what they do that gets over. He cites John Cena and JBL being examples of guys who are just playing up who they really are on TV. He compares the WWE creative team to Lukas hiring the cast of Star Wars and then saying to the cast, "So, what role would you like to play?" He says certain guys just fit certain molds and they can't be forced to be something they're not.

-- Charlie's pretty bothered by the idea they released Dawn Marie while she's pregnant. He feels they could've waited until after she had the baby.

-- We then roll into some word associations that cannot be missed. Names like Jim Ross, Vince McMahon, Russ Haas, Jackie Gayda, and so many more are dropped and discussed in detail. You'll just have to listen at www.WrestlingEpicenter.com to hear that!

-- We close out with a fitting song by Faster Pussycat, "House of Pain." Get it?

As has been reported, last week's explosive WWE roster cuts were largely done with cost in mind. However, in choosing which talent to cut, various factors were evaluated. Below are specific reasons for several of the releases.

- In addition to lacking the in-ring and microphone skills necessary to succeed, Mark Jindrak reportedly did not have a great attitude and was said to be more interested in life on the road than becoming a great wrestler. WWE felt that he had numerous opportunities to get over on television, and failed each time.

- Aside from having a mixed backstage reputation, Maven was also said to be progressing very slowly as a wrestler and having trouble connecting with the fans.

- Despite the initial backing of Johnny Ace, Kenzo Suzuki, too, did not have the charisma or in-ring ability needed to warrant a place on the roster.

- WWE had little use for David "Gangrel" Heath - his gimmick was far too outdated for the modern scene.

Aw, Haas vs Shelton/Angle/Benoit would have been awesome, good job WWE disgust.gif

Road Warrior Animal returned during a storyline to set up MNM defending the WWE Tag-Team titles against Animal and Heidenreich at the Great American Bash pay-per view.

When I was a kid I'd mark out for Animal and Hawk, but after hearing some stuff from the DVD they seemed like a-holes
Shadowsleet
I don't know about being a-holes....but I do know they could barely wrestle in their prime. Animal today would probably have difficulty having a good match with Kurt Angle or Shawn Michaels, let alone an inexperienced tag team, and a sloppy partner.
AtticusBlueprint
I thought they went against orders, no sold, and didn't really care about their opponents safety...
Shadowsleet
That was a trademark of a lot of guys at the top of the big promotions at that time. I wouldn't single the Road Warriors out in particular...truth be told, they probably didn't sell because they had no idea how. They were big guys in Vinnie Mac's company, they probably weren't hired on the basis of talent.

I remember one no sold RVD's 5 star splash once, yet RVD made it look like it killed him.

The lead story on TVGuide.com is regarding the WWE terrorism storyline. It is the main headlines on the site with a photo of Muhammad Hassan with the headline, "Breaking News: UPN comes under fire for terror-like Smackdown stunt." The main feature of the story is: "Meanwhile, WWE spokesman Gary Davis is urging viewers to tune in this Thursday to see how the plot 'gets straightened out.' If you don't, then the terrorists will have won."

Speaking of the WWE terrorism storyline, Media Life Magazine also has a story regarding the matter. The article concludes: "The WWE says it's an entertainment business and that its plot shouldn't be taken seriously.

Matt Hardy is scheduled for an indy booking in Indiana, Pa. for the Allied Powers Wrestling Federation (APWF). He is set to face Dr. Feelgood in the main event. Nikolai Volkoff is also scheduled to appear on the show.

Several reports indicate that the Velocity main-event this week of Chris Benoit vs. William Regal is one of the best straight wrestling matches WWE has had on television in a long time. Many remember Benoit and Regal from their infamous match at the Brian Pillman memorial show, which is the match that ultimately got Regal back into WWE.

Mikey Whipwreck and another former ECW wrestler yet to be revealed will headline Friday night's PWF Northeast show in Quincy, MA at the National Guard Armory. The only hint on the other ECW wrestler is that he is someone Whipwreck feuded with during the original ECW run.

FMC airs the movie, "Princess Bride" with Andre the Giant tomorrow at 4:00PM EST.

Billy Gunn recently spoke out against Triple H in an article at DailyMail.com, where he says "He's God and he's got control up there. He'll use it to his full potential and he'll stab you in the back."

WWE.com continued its attempt to serve as an insider source for wrestling news by covering the WWE tryouts of Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten, which took place before Monday's RAW.

Balls Mahoney was in absolute shock when he got the call about trying out for WWE officials, "The Talent Relations department called me up and asked what I had going on Monday and Tuesday night. And I said, ‘Wait a minute, okay, stop. What’s going on, is this a joke?’ And they said, ‘No, we’re serious; we want to take a look at you.’ So, I said, ‘Okay. Yeah! Twist my arm. Sure. What do you think I want to do with my life?’

Axl Rotten spoke very confidently about the impression his match left on fellow wrestlers.

"The consensus is that it was very good," Rotten told WWE.com, "and from our point of view, from being out there and competing in it … we’re never going to say that it was great because we can always do better, but everyone we spoke to enjoyed it, and we know the fans had a blast because if it’s one thing that Balls and Axl do when we go to the ring is throw a party."

Both Mahoney and Rotten were also confident about the prospect of working future shows with WWE. Rotten also put over the ECW PPV:

"You know, the thing was, it validated us in the fact that we realized that we didn’t work eight or nine years in vain. We actually built something with ECW, and with the culmination of that pay-per-view showed that Balls and Axl are not dead, ECW’s not dead, and the fans still get behind us and believe in what we’ve done."

The Chicago Tribune has picked up the Muhammad Hassan/Undertaker terrorist storyline from SmackDown. You can read their article on the controversy online at chicagotribune.com.

Both Steven Richards and Blue Meanie were backstage at the SmackDown! tapings last night, but were opted not to be used by WWE management on the show. Mike Bucci did appear during the taping as Simon Dean, so it appears he'll be working as him and as Hollywood Nova for now.

Tommy Penmanship of Chaotic Wrestling was the guy who appeared in The Undertaker segment that will air on SmackDown! this Thursday. Mo Sexay, Nigel McGuiness, and Matt Striker were also backstage at the show last night, but not used.

Great movie...I always thought the WWE could use it's own Inigo Montoya..."You took my title! Prepair to die!"
Subtemperate
Yes, Princess Bride is a great movie......

And i think its more like:

HHH: You want me to lose the title? Inconceivable.
Shadowsleet
I can see it now...

Chris Beniot and Stacy Keibler fall in love. However, they are torn apart when an angry heel takes Beniot out of action. For months, Stacy is forced to be the manager of a particuarly annoying heel (let's say Triple H for the sake of arguement), until he decides to unload her on a trio of Eddie Guerrero, Paul Heyman, and The Big Show. Believing that if his manager were "taken out of action" by a mysterious third party, the crowd would be sympathetic, and complain less about his backstage politics.

However, a masked man arrives to rescue her and, with Paul Heyman screaming "inconveivable!", he defeats Eddie in straight wrestilng, and then outbrawls the Big Show. Finally matching wits with Paul Heyman, he cheats, and just makes him pass out from the crossface.

However, Triple H arrives, annoyed that his cronies lost control of Stacy, and decides to deal with things himself. His plan being to force Stacy to marry him, and just get cheered by assossiation, he brutally annihilates Benoit with a steel chair, and leaves him for dead.

However, Benoit is saved by a disgruntled Eddie and Big Show, as Eddie has discovered that Triple H's sidekick, Ric Flair, screwed his grandfather Gory out of a title shot to get himself over in his early career. Realising that they neet Benoit's skills, they take him to a long retired Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, to get him back to fighting shape.

With Benoit back in top form, they launch an assault on RAW. Eddie fights a climactic grudge match against Flair, while Benoit gains his revenge against Triple H. Big Show plays little role in the actual fighting, except for the following segment.

Security guard: I can't let you in, you guys are barred.

Benoit: Give us the key...

Secuirty guard: I...have no key.

Eddie: Show...tear his arms off.

Secuirty guard: Oh, you mean this key.

Matt Hardy called into WWE.com's Byte This, "confronting" Lita as to why she left him for Adam Copeland (as he called him on the air). Lita said that she doesn't think she needs to explain why she's with Edge. She told Hardy that one of the reasons she's not with him is that he's been cutting wrestling promos about their personal life.

Lita said that it's not her issue to act out "this breakup in a public way" the way Hardy did. She questioned him rallying his MFers for, "What, I don't know." Hardy responded that it's a public thing because they are public people and she got involved with someone who claimed to be one of his best friends.

"We're on TV, we're worldwide in every country in the world. Considering the power of the Internet, it was going to be out there." said Hardy. Lita said that if Hardy didn't rally the troops and make matter public, things would have been conducted a lot better. She said the situation came out of nowhere, but wasn't her fault. Hardy responded that it would have come out eventually and Hardy didn't want people thinking he was at fault for their breakup.

Hardy then discussed his firing, saying that Johnny Ace called him when he was ready to come back to inform Hardy he was being released because creative has nothing for him. Hardy said that he didn't buy that and questioned it had nothing to do with the Edge-Lita situation. He said that Adam Copeland and Lita were in the wrong with Copeland committing adultery, but he was the one who was fired. He said that Copeland and Dumas should have been sent home, not him.

Lita then asked Hardy why she would want to be with him after "a rant like this." Hardy said that he doesn't want to be with her anymore, but he's a vindicative person. He said he put her in front of his career and said he came to Raw only because he wanted to be with her to make their schedules better, even though "it was a career killer" for him. He said he would get retribution against Lita, Edge, and WWE.

Hardy mentioned that his no compete clause has expired and plugged his shows this weekend, calling Ring of Honor "A real wrestling promotion with no soap opera storylines."

Lita tried to cut Hardy off as he began questioning her about their relationship, "What went wrong with us?" Lita then said she didn't want to talk about it because it was personal, and when he pushed the issue, she removed her mic and walked off the set.

Hardy plugged his websites and said, "See you at Ring of Honor." WWE.com then ended the show after 27 minutes due to Lita "walking off the show."

Prior to Hardy calling in, Lita addressed the situation saying that she doesn't sign autographs anymore because of the situation. She regretted the way she went about things but she doesn't regret being with Edge because she's in love with him. When asked about Edge being married, Lita said that wasn't a question anyone but Edge could answer and she wasn't going to comment on it because "It's personal."

She also said that the fans chanting does get to her in the ring. She said that she tries to block it but its hard when you have 20,000 fans chanting "You Screwed Matt" in Madison Square Garden without knowing what's going on. She said she just wants to go out there from 9 PM to 11 PM and entertain, but it's hard to do when people are doing this.

I like the way the WWE are handling this...
Talon
Hardy's right, it would have been a major issue even without him, hell it was the way WWE fired him that made it huge. It was their fault.

And Lita has no right moaning about the fans taking sides, after what the WWE did we have every right to be upset.
Shadowsleet
I feel the WWE screwed Matt more than Lita did - what they did affects me personally, as a fan...what she did isn't any of my affair. I can think of a million and one insulting things I would rather chant at Lita about the job she's doing than stooping to assaulting her for her private life.
Talon
It does show the wwe who's side we're on doesn't it though
AtticusBlueprint
I have a feeling this was scripted, and Lita knew Matt was going to call ahead of time...

Matt is more over then he could have ever dreamed of, and if you think about it, it was thanks to Lita and Edge
Talon
I just hope this overness is taken advantage of, rather than let it die and end up wasted.
AtticusBlueprint
I'm sure it will, and with Carlito IC champ it works out perfectly, cause he can feud with him after he's done with Edge
Subtemperate
Not to mention Edge is currently working on things with his wife, and not actually with Lita.....

So at least a fair chunk of that was a setup.....

We are on Matts side because he was fired...... The oppsing side isn't Lita and Edge....... They were hurt by this more then the WWE...... Are the WWE payign for it? No.... In the end, whether it was a work or not, its actually gaining them more attention......

So in the end who are the losers exactly?
Seraphina
The smarks, for buying into it? wink2.gif
Subtemperate
Well, I can understand why they did. The WWE are onto something good, if they can use this method of developing storylines.... It blurs reality once again... yes.gif

This is what Daivari said after Muhammad Hassan's promo on the NY TIMES at the tapings last night (and on WWE.com today). Daivari speaks PERSIAN (Farsi) not Arab. Here it is:

Daivari Said: For everyone who watched last week on the TV you saw me get picked up from the ground and go to the back. But you thought the hands on me were Arab hands. You don't even know, but when you hear that the masked men were Arabs, you believe it. We are Arab (points to himself and Hassan) so therefore you think we are bad people. But please, for only one time, one minute, ONE SECOND just listen to the words of me and Muhammad and you will understand we are American and we are from America. And then you will then understand what they wrote on the New York Times was wrong (points to the crumpled paper).

-I just wanna point out again that Davari IS NOT speaking Arab, he's speaking Persian. But yeah, Hassan stuck up for himself good, great promo there, crowd was pretty quiet and only thing they did do was chant U.S.A. The Muhammad Hassan/Undertaker terrorist storyline has since continued to get mainstream coverage all over the media today, as you guys have been reporting on.

The following is from RobVanDam.com: "Summer's going pretty quick and, before you know it, prayers are answered and RVD will be back in action. Sounds like it'll be a little easier finding room to stretch. Anyway, everything is going fine here so don't worry about the wheel."

There was no sign of Matt Hardy backstage prior to his appearance on RAW. His surprise attack on Edge was kept well under wraps, and was not common knowledge in the locker room. He also left the arena straight away after security dragged him backstage. One backstage source said "He came in, did his thing, and left."
