I must admit, the first time I heard this I did wonder what put possess someone who had never demonstrated an ounce of either athletic or wrestling ability, be heading for the olympics huh.gif Kurt Angle, yes, Brock Lesnar, yes...I could even see guys like Chris Benoit maybe migrating into amature wrestling....but if I was drawing up a list of guys I thought had a chance of winning (or even competing believably), Kane is not be one of the people I'd be placing on it huh.gif

I can't seem to get the EWR thing to load. this makes me rather sad. Now I'm just gonna have to play Raw 2 some more.

I can't seem to get my account set up. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Afraid Raw's getting a little boring, as I've main evented wrestlemania versus test for the umpteenth time.

I love the smackdown games. Anyway, we're gonna do the start your own show thing on Krow's wrestling forum. Anyone who is interested, go ahead and venture over there and register for his forum and we'll get things started after awhile. I'm afraid to say that once we pick the wrestlers, there won't be anyone left except for maybe the ones nobody wanted.
Falco Rex
I have a Smackdown game for my PS2. Every time I play it my wrestler will target the referee as an opponent and keep attacking him for the entire match. Does this happen to anybody else? If so how do I keep it from happening? It'd be nice to play the game without losing every damn match!
saucy
That's funny. I intentionally hit the ref with a chair and knock him out so I can use the chair on my opponent when he isn't looking. There is a button on the remote that you push that turns the focus of your wrestler on the opponent, not the ref. If it doesn't turn direction, then its the remote that needs replacing. I guess you're the push every button kinda guy, huh?
jizzames
it's all about smackdown here comes the pain. i bought that game before i had a ps2 just so i knew that when i got one i'd have a rad game to play on it tongue.gif.
AtticusBlueprint
actually I think Kane could win alot of matches in amature wrestling, I mean if I was an amature wrestler and I heard that I was going up against Kane I'd forfeit he's a scary man with no eyebrows

We had the same problem, you have to buy your account from the site...I'll send you the addy.

You do realise that, if you need to set up an account, it's not EWR you're downloading, it's TEW. TEW is the paid for game, that they'll charge you £20 to liscence it. EWR doesn't need a liscense.

Strangely enough, only a few days ago I commented that I bet the "question" Kane had for Lita was: "Would I be more handsome if I grew my eyebrows back?"

What does everything think of Victoria's new entrance?
IMO it's really lame and kinda boring, she's just become the female version of Lance Storm
Falco Rex
mmmm...Victoria. She can do no wrong in my book. But that's probably just hormones speaking, I've always loved crazy women.. wub.gif
Seraphina
The thing that gets me about Victoria is that not once has it been explained to us why she suddenly stopped being crazy huh.gif

She started out as the psycho heel and then suddenly, overnight, we're supposed to cheer her because she's now being booked against heels, and is getting kids in the audiance to kiss her on the cheek instead of smashing up mirrors and throwing polystyrine in the air while shouting "snow! snow!"

I thought she was better as a heel anyway....the women's division is sorely lacking in talent right now, and Victoria was really needed to do alot of the work to keep the matches flowing. Typical heel/face psychology involved the heel pounding the living hell out of the face for most of the match, and with Victoria now a face there simply aren't any talented heels in the division to carry the matches the same way she could.
The Krow
I think that she should be a Heel...because she probably was the best female heel that the WWE has ever seen...there are a bunch of wrestlers that I like as as heel instead of a face...Chris Jericho was one of them...he was one of my favorite heels...with his conspiracy victim gimmick...and the dean malenko feud...
Seraphina

It seems the proposal of one group of people was given a "no, and no discussion" tag, when the same idea proposed by another group has recieved their own section of the forum, and is currently under negotiation for their own time slot in the chat room in order to enact it.

This is a fine example of the same stigma I'm talking about when I say I'm fed up having to defend my sport of choice disgust.gif (let's face it, there's no doubt your plan was dismissed because it was about wrestling, even though it's got no less to do with the subject of this forum than D&D). Simply because it's not mainstream, or simply because the mods "can't see the attraction", we're shuffled to the back of the line, and our voice is ignored.

I did, and still do, believe there are dozens of forums on the web for either fantasy pbp rpgs, or for wrestling e-feds, and I don't think either has a place of the UM forum...however, I do find myself more than a little annoyed that forum time and resources will be invested in one, while the other is just tossed out of the window without an elbow room whatsoever disgust.gif

you're right Seraphina. Just because it's wrestling, they shuffle us to the back of the line. We're probably just as passionate about our sport as they are about their D & D or whatever they're putting together. It's just like the other night I was really sick and asked a question, Celti closed my thread before anyone was able to help me, but there are other threads on the "off topic" thread about hay fever and people asking for help and those are still open. I'm gonna get some trouble for this, but it sure seems like mods are playing favorites. It's alright though. I created a religious forum to make them happy so we can stop the religious talks here at this site and my idea has a home at Krow's wrestling forum, which is a good place to go if you're thinking about moving our wrestling talks to a place where we are welcome. If anyone is interesting in starting their own show, click on Krow's link and join up.

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. today said it will provide its upcoming SmackDown!™ brand Pay-Per-View, The Great American Bash, free to domestic USO affiliates upon request so they can host on-base events for military troops across the country. The Great American Bash will be broadcast from the Norfolk Scope Arena live on Pay-Per-View Sunday, June 27, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Subway is the Pay-Per-View sponsor.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday, May 22, and are expected to sell quickly. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the Scope Arena box office.

The announcement was made today at a news conference at noon at the Scope Arena with Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim, Jeff Hill, Executive Director of USO of Hampton Roads, Inc., and WWE Superstars Sgt Slaughter and Charlie Haas™. Also attending was Thom Prevette, Vice President of Government and Public Affairs, Cox Communications.

“Our troops and their families have shown great courage and strength during this very difficult time, and we’re proud to offer them the opportunity to watch SmackDown!’s The Great American Bash pay-per-view on June 27 absolutely free through their local USO,” said Kurt Schneider, Executive Vice President, Marketing. Schneider said WWE would assist the USOs in working with cable affiliates and satellite providers to work out the technical aspects of showing the Pay-Per-View.

"On behalf of the City of Norfolk, I’m pleased to welcome World Wrestling Entertainment back to Scope and to a fan base that’s one of the best in the country. We’re especially pleased that next month’s Great American Bash will mark the first ever pay-per-view wrestling event for Norfolk and the Scope arena, and I want to thank the good folks at WWE for making this event possible," said Mayor Fraim.

“This will be a tremendous morale boost for our men and women in uniform,” said Jeff Hill. “The WWE has been a staunch supporter of our military men and women, and have proven it once again by offering the Great American Bash Pay-Per-View free to domestic USOs to show to the troops. I tip my hat to the WWE and the cable affiliates and satellite providers who are working together to make this happen.”

“Cox Communications is pleased to work with the WWE to bring the Great American Bash free to USOs across the United States for the benefit of our troops,” said Thom Prevette.

And what about the rest of us??? why don't we all get it for free??? And why are they taking WCW's PPV Names??? that is 110% uncool...
AtticusBlueprint
Meh, It's a Smackdown PPV I'm sure most of them won't watch it tongue.gif
Seraphina
I'm afraid there's just one thing we have to remember about this ppv...

Bradshaw is in the main event....again....the fact that Judgement day got a hideously low buy rating (one hundred thousand less buys, literally, than last year) doesn't seem to have convinced them that pushing him is a bad idea.

*sighs*...

Oh, we should also remember that "The Great American Bash" is the most offbeat and cheesy name they've ever come up with rolleyes.gif tongue.gif
Falco Rex
Thanks to my VCR messing up I missed Smackdown this week. Instead I got 2 hours of Green Acres on the TVLand Network for some reason(Wheee!).
So my question is, is this a good thing?
Or was this the week Smackdown started to turn it all around and I missed it?

p.s. Thanks to the Krow for an answer to my Russ Haas question.
Seraphina
From what I saw, Smackdown was nothing special....(in fact, it was bad enough that I left to do something else after a while)...

However, there was one really great segment that I would have been sorry if I'd missed. Paul Heyman was backstage with the Dudleys, and basically fired them up...I swear, there was never a better speaker in the wrestling industry, he's made to be a fast talking, evil incarnate manager!....

Heyman aside though, the show wasn't much to get excited over....not the parts I saw anyway...with Bradshaw not only being given another main event push, but also being asked to fill five minutes of mic time when he was trouble filling one, they seem to be intent of making Smackdown suck even more.
Falco Rex
Well, if you felt the need to leave rather than watch it all it must have been fairly dire overall. I guess I didn't miss much..
Still, it's disappointing when you're ready to watch some Wrestling and you turn on the TV only to see Mr. Douglas and Arnold the pig.. rolleyes.gif
Seraphina
I can imagine wacko.gif

A word on Victoria's new entrance by the way...since I hadn't seen it when the question first came up...I believe the word I'm looking for is: "urrg..."

The music was terrible, the ass wiggling was just embarassing, and the reaction she got from it was just what I'd expected: mediocre at best. At least when Lance Storm came to the ring dancing, it was for a reason...he'd been encouraged to "let loose" by Goldust, so the fans knew why he was doing it, and they had a reason to cheer him on for it.

With her, it's just another fine example of the directionless manner in which they're handling her character...from a 180 degree face turn (no doubt brought on because they planned on turning Trish heel), for no reason whatsoever (a miracle cure to insanty perhaps), to suddenly....this.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs overall for Victoria...I guess she'll manage to get over when she finds her niche, but I really did prefer her before, as a heel. She could carry the whole women's division in that capacity, and anyone could have been the main face of it with her as the main heel (after all, it's not like they're going to be out there for longer than five minutes per show).

Yes, I heard about that...and wow, it's like American soap operas, only without the tacky sets and reused extas playing different parts in the same episodes wacko.gif

Obviously, it's going to bring the Dudley's into conflict with Taker in some way....on the other hand, it could signal Taker about to turn heel, as he's in on some kind of "master plan" by the Dudleys to get them back to the top, or some other, cheesy, soap opera storyline, that nobody is going to remember in three months time.

Which, ironically, is exactly what Heyman was complaining about the Dudleys turning into.

It's more likely, however, that it will lead to a match where Taker sqaushes both Dudley's effortlessly, before beign challenged by Mordeki; thus leading to the huge build up the Dudley's have recieved thanks to, again, Paul Heyman's great mic work, being utterly wasted for the sake of a cheap pop for Taker.

Having said that, however, I have just taken the time to, should this thread indeed win the "most pointless thread" award, I have prepaired the most biting, sarcastic, and stinging acceptance speach ever written devil.gif Whatever Vinne Mac may be smoking when he consults the writing team, I still love the sport, and I won't see it trivialised.

I have some news from my source. First, Booker T hates the push he's getting on smackdown and he's looking to retire sooner than he anticipated. It's looking more and more likely that Sting will sign with the WWE. He was against it at first because of the amount of dates Vince wanted him to wrestle and Sting is now happy that Vince reduced the amount of dates and is likely to sign soon. Steve Austin is likely to return to show, but Vince is reassured that Austin is not needed because of the crowd's silent reaction when Jericho mentioned Austin's name in a promo.

I'm gonna start a poll for the wrestling fans so please look for it!

I call the people who're likely to vote for it bigots because they're voting solely for the fact that it's wrestling and they "don't see the attraction"....it's no less relevent than anything else in the hobbies section, and a damn site more authentic than alot of the other things that are.

United States Championship - John Cena vs. Booker T for the WWE U.S. Title

That should be a decent match....however, I agree with Booker being annoyed about his push. Quite frankly, he should be the main heel on Smackdown right now, NOT Bradshaw....Booker T can wrestle, Bradshaw cannot...Booker T can work a mic, Bradshaw cannot....Booker T is over, Bradshaw is not...it just makes me shudder that they'd sooner push a "hoss" than someone with talent.

Anyway, I do hope that Booker is, in some way, about to be built up for a push...I really do....a fued between him and Eddie might just help Smackdown out of this hole the bookers have dug it into.

Cheap pop tv, and an excuse to show the US comquering the "cowardly French". Sad, and just shows how stupid the writing team think the fans must be (although in fairness, a lot of them seem to cheer it...)

I wasn't aware of any build up for this match....another David and Goliath skit....hmm....they usually work well on the midcard, and from what I've seen of him Jindrak isn't all that bad. Should be an okay filler, won't complain.

"There has been a lot of talk backstage, mainly stemming from Bruce Pritchard, about removing the cruiserweight division on Smackdown which would cause everyone to compete in the same division. Many feel that if this is done, most of the smaller talent would be buried in a sense, as the current division is used to showcase that talent. If the divisions were combined, the cruiserweights could get easily lost in the shuffle, which is the standpoint of many backstage including Dean Malenko who has even notified some of the cruiserweight wrestlers about Pritchard's thoughts."

For the love of Christ what are these people thinking!
saucy
I was about to say that with my source, but you got there first so good job Talon! Anyway, I have some news. First, it looks like a deal is gonna be made and Stone Cold will once again be on WWE television, but not before the next wrestlemania. Some "experts" think he will be back for the wrestlemania, but Vince is skeptical. He says the fans don't like Stone Cold in the version he is in now, a non-impact, non-fighting version of Austin. They would rather see him competing in the ring. Vince also stated he doesn't think Sting will work out because the name doesn't have the same pull it once had. ECW doesn't look to be happening, at least anytime soon. Vince said he's more preoccupied with working on Smackdown and its problems and ECW is a defunk show and doesn't want to associate with it. Vince also feels his Mr. McMahon character is also losing its draw so I guess we'll be seeing less and less of him on TV. On Hulk Hogan, Vince also isn't interested in signing him. Vince was quoted as saying he's now busy looking for new talent and not worried about the oldies. Looks like Vince is trying to invest more on the younger superstars because the ones who hold name value are leaving...Taker will be retiring in the next few years probably...Booker T wants to retire soon...Triple H wants to make movies...Brock Lesnar may be playing NFL football...The Rock is making movies...Stone Cold is injured....Kane wants to take time off to get into the olympics...Shawn Michaels wants to take some time off.

Looks like the big names will soon be leaving and most of them are Raw characters and the show will definately make a huge drop in ratings if that happens. The only draw Smackdown has now is Taker and maybe Eddie Guerrero and the only big named heel is Booker T.

Sources say Brock may not make it in the NFL, though the reason is unknown. There's a 50/50 chance on his return to the WWE.
Talon

Its a pitty he didn't do that a few years back so that now these new guys could be posistion to take over from the old guys. Oh, and Vince, there was a reason by the late 1990s was a popular era in wrestling - good writing/booking teams.

"The reason why the fan got thrown out of the Arena at the Passport to Pain tour in Munich last night was JBL did a Nazi salute in the ring two times during the main event. A fan got mad about it and wanted to attack JBL for his actions. The Nazi salute is strictly prohibited in Germany, even foreigners can be punished by German law for such activities. It's really sad that a person needs to use such things to draw "cheap heat". "

Oh I really hate Bradshaw
Talon
"Although the majority of people have praised John Cena's efforts since his arrival in WWE, it seems that individuals backstage in WWE are changing their opinion of the US Champion. The consensus is that Cena's wrestling skills are not improving and he is not working hard enough to rectify his weaknesses. There is also the feeling that Cena has become arrogant in the sense that he feels he is so over with fans that he just needs to continue with what he is doing to be successful."

Source: True, I do think that Cena's work has dropped a little resently, but rapwise I place that down to being a face, and workwise... well, he's never going to be a Beniot.

I dont know the difference between WWF, WTF, WTD, WTY WWGH, WWWWVB. or any of those.

But I am a very big fan of the more realstic fighting sports. UFC and Pride FC To me , real blood and competition using combat proven fighitng technques is more exciting. But to each his own. Most MMA fighters are too scarred up to appear on television anyways. (coliflower ears, prtruding forheads, crooked noses)
The reason i bring this up is because Ken Shamrock -who is now part of one of those shows- will be fighting Kimo in the octogon.
ken vs. kimo

Ken Shamrock did very well in his prior fights before he went WW***

i was just wondering- once UFC 48 comes to pay per view, if you W** fans think he will come out on top after being gone so long. I was also wondering what your opinions are on UFC or Pride FC , and if you have ever watched any. They are very exciting once you understand the various grappling/striking strategies.
I think any W** fan would be thrilled.

I was also wondering what your opinions are on UFC or Pride FC , and if you have ever watched any. They are very exciting once you understand the various grappling/striking strategies.
I think any W** fan would be thrilled.

Neither is avaiable in the UK.. or at least not that I know of. I'd like to see them, but because its real there wouldn't be the same performance as pro-wrestling, which is an art form. As for Shamrock, I kinda wish he'd come back to WWE, I mean he had no personality, but he was a good wrestler.

I dont know the difference between WWF, WTF, WTD, WTY WWGH, WWWWVB. or any of those.

WWF is World Wide Fund for Nature. WTF is What the f*ck, I don't know the rest.
WWE is World Wrestling Entertainment, and the biggest company in wrestling at the mo (used to be called WWF, then WWF above sued it)

But I am a very big fan of the more realstic fighting sports

Amature wrestlings real, and to an extent pro-wrestlin is too as people can get killed or injured by the movesets, but they do it in a way which causes the least amount of damage like stunts in a move, creating a kinda of performance art fight, a bit like action movies.

On other news;

"From what we've heard, Eddie Guerrero snapped last night in Oberhausen, Germany, when fans continually mocked him from the beginning of his match against Bradshaw. It was apparent that Guerrero was not over with the German crowd and what resulted was pretty much similar with what happened with Edge last week in England.
Eddie ended up turning himself heel in the match, as he grabbed the mic and yelled "Germany sucks" before flipping off the entire crowd.
Later on backstage at the show Eddie actually said that he wasn't working the crowd as a heel, rather he was actually extremely angry at the fan's reactions to him throughout the entire match. This comes off the heels of what happened the previous night with Bradshaw using the Nazi salute.
Management was angry at the actions Eddie took out in the ring, especially since he's Smackdown's heavyweight champion. Recently many backstage feel that with Eddie's body as banged-up as it is along with the aftermath of his Judgment Day match with Bradshaw, Eddie is very tired and dragging right now as he continues to try and push himself as hard as he can as the brand's champion.
As far as we know, there was some talk about management fining Eddie for his actions at the show."
