Ok, i've done some dedicated research(from websites, libaries and the like) about ghosts and spirits. I did come up with some good info but I saw this site so I figured there would be some good info from you guys.

This is my question, my friend or better yet her and her family recently gone insane or what it seems.

She said she's been hearing moaning, crying, giggles and the like. I did research on the house and according to records, the few familes before hers died for no reason. Unexplained stuff and that was like in the 1900's.

Anyway, she has seen her beds on fire, knives thrown(they recently locked them up and no one was hurt by them anyway. The knives hit the wall and that was it.), hot or cold water thrown on them and the like.

I did research and told them to try to ignore(cause if you give ghosts credit and attention, their power grows and the like.) or say a prayer and leave the house and move out.

Then recently since she lives here in town. I was talking to her on the phone when she said something about this for the first time. I told her, nah. Then i did research and sent it to her. I was quite surprise she was possibly right. One, I got major feed back on my phone, second, I could hear screaming sometimes and it wasn't her screaming either.

Also, when I gave her some info(cause I was at my comp). She printed it out and they(the poltergiests) where screaming and howling, making like 20 copies of it. I then began to read the Bible and so did she. They disappeared for wahtever reason for like a few days.

What is odd though, everytime I go over to her house. They do nothing but once I leave. All hell breaks loose. I am just confused, is it because I'm religeous that they fear me? I mean their family is somewhat religeous but they still do what they do. I mean it's weird...

Anyway, I foudn this site and posted this info as I am searching for answers.

Well you certainly did a lot more research than most people, and you certainly seem to be open minded about the possibility of whatever this particular phenomenon, so that in itself gives you a tremendous edge in formulating your decisions and actions.

It does indeed sound like there is more of a 'spirit' tendancy in this particular haunting, than poltergeist activity, though if anything is moving myteriously, that certainly counts, and knives are definitely not a good sign - usually its just smells, water appearing and pebbles being thrown and such with most poltergeists; this appears to contain elements of both 'ghost' hauntings and poltergeist hauntings, which are, from what i recall, fairly rare in most cases. 'Geists have been known to do a number of other things a lot of people don't know of, but as I think there may be at least some measure of the people involved giving 'it' ideas telepathically, I won't elaborate and suggest you do NOT look them up, or if you do, definitely not to tell your friend or the family.

I couldn't give you any advice, as I'm not part of an organized religion, haven't encountered any 'spirits' or poltergeists myself, but there have been varied reports of religious cleansing and exorcisms performed on haunted houses, poltegeists and hybrids and they all seem to meet with varying degrees of success or failure - again, I won't elaborate, as poltergeist phenomenon generally seems cleverly imitative, but suffice it to say some religious banishings work, some seem to 'anger' the phenomenon, and some just don't work.

According to Poltergeist Researcher William Roll's studies from a decade or so ago, poltergeists usually follow one person, or in rare cases, an entire family - one common hypothesis is that they are actually "recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis" (RSPK), basically the 'left-over' charges of PK ability from one or more people, usually erratically manifesting due to an ongoing amount of stress or trauma, sometimes with just the focus person, sometimes it seems to be brought about as a result of the dynamics of the ENTIRE family's tension with each other - usually though, its focus is a young child, between 7 and sometimes up into the late teens - puberty, a time of angst and stress from so many different areas of life, including individuation from family, is thought to be the reason for RSPK to focus on adolescents. If this idea is correct, in theory, religious attempts to 'banish the spirit' really shouldn't have much affect, as they aren't spirits, but errant psychic powers - but sometimes it works, for whatever reason.

As far as the voices and such go, poltergeists have been known, supposedly, to commonly create noises like footsteps, furniture being dragged across the floor, etc, so its not unthinkable actual voices could also be produced - but as you say, at what point do you decide its a spirit, or RSPK?

The bottom line is, whatever works, works, so your friend and her family should do whatever they feel like is necessary, your suggestions seem as sound as any other, especially since they have some religious background, and it has seemed to work, according to you. As far as you not seeing the manifestations, there are various possibilities - we'll discount the one that perhaps she and her family ARE having a mental issue, I presume you've considered this - the other reason that jumps to mind is the 'skeptic effect', which I think can apply not only to skeptics that don't believe phenomenon exist, but also to people who think it might exist, but also have enough confidence or faith in their own abilities that they won't be affected by it - and on the outside, some people who 'want to believe' as the X-Files' Mulder would put it, have a negative effect on phenomenon just because they don't believe they'll ever get to see any in action, even if they genuinely want to.

I know this wasn't a whole lot of help but maybe some of it could point you in a direction you may want to follow up, and by all means, keep everyone informed on the situation. I wish you and your friend and her family the best.

Indeed, that is some good info. Yes, I have thought they may have mental disorders but who knows. There are many possibilities but I am still looking into it.

Also, only reason I am open about it because one I was always open minded about it. Second, God himself has a legion of angels thus there has to be angels. Third, if God was driving out spirits, demons and the like. Then there has to be some still around here. We just throw it out the window and say the person is a lunatic.

i had some weird experiances a couple of years ago when i cleaned for an elderly well to do couple, the lady of the house passed away and after a month or so strange things started happening, especially in her bedroom, i would be walking through and hear a bang behind me and on the floor would be an ornament but never broken although some were very fragile, beds would be unmade and one hot summers day i was standing at the bottom of the stairs when it suddenly turned very cold and i felt something odd rush through me, the strange thing is ive always been a kind of scared of this subject and have had to turn the t.v over if a horror movie came on but all through my experiences i was calm....
