can moderators read people's PMs? how far does their power extend? ive only been on two other forums, ever, and none of the moderators there couldnt do near as much as the ones here. i know they can change our profile info, and signatures, edit our posts and what not, but what about other things? can they change our avatars, delete our accounts, send PMs to others in our names? can they do these things, and mostly, are they keeping it secret to keep the edgeon the ordinary members???

This should be in the conspiracy section

!
What difference would it make anyway? All the mods I know are honourable decent people. Go Mods!!!!

I own a forum, as an admin, and as far as I know, I can't read anyones PM's unless I went onto their account...Mod powers are always lower than admin.

I can't read anyone's PMs on mine either, but one time I did create an alternative personality and they found out about it and I only told one person through PM. I used a different email address and that person swears he didn't tell, but they knew. How did they know? Hmmmm

What if two people in a family used the same computerto chat on unexplained mysteries? Would they have their accounts suspended?

No, not unless your behavior justified it. It would be appreciated if members informed an administrator or moderator if they are sharing a computer prior to their posting to the forum, however. This helps allay any suspicion of deceitful activity and prevents misunderstandings.
PM's are exactly that, 'private messages'.
Saucy, even without access to IP lookup tools, your foolish attempt at deception would have been noticed, you're that obvious.

Well, this is an unexplained mysteries discussion board, ironic, isn't it?

Moving this topic to the correct category.

Thank-you for your openess on the subject MiM . If any body else has similar questions it would be apreciated if they where also asked .
And as Magik said PM's are private messages . We can't see them .
Infact it would be fair to say that the friendly environment experienced by most on the forum should be viewed as a reflection of the work put in by the moderators . They do it for the sake of a good forum and for no other reason .
Why ruin that by creating mistrust ?

I have been to quite a few forums, and I must say that this one is right up there at the top when it comes to professionalism (see above: why?). Great job, staff!
I do not know what the point is to starting this thread, but the way I see it is it should either be in a different topic e.g. off topic, humor, etc., or if there is an underlying problem, contact a mod first, before posting publicly.
If one should feel violated, use email rather than PM.

Yours is an IF board (a stripped down version of IPB) the owner has disabled this option.
