how many hours have u been playing. are you close to completing it, do you think?

Hell no.
Played probably for about 5-6 hours on it so far. Still with Ashley, haven't even come close to figuring anything out, no signs of Ada or any other characters yet. I doubt i'm even a quater of the way through.

is that just with going staright forward through the game pretty much or finding all of the secrets and stuff?

That's with collecting EVERYTHING i can.
The treasure map is wonderful, it points out on your map all the locations of every bit of treasure you can get. And i'm pretty sure i'm collecting everything that isn't on the map too.

Like in one cave i shot out a lamp and it made several precious stones on the ceiling glitter. I shot them down and picked them up.

Treasures are even hidden in birds nests in trees. Dunno what i would have done without the treasure map. Pick it up the first time you see a merchant.

How much do things generally cost?

First Aid Spray: 10000 peasos.
Treasure Map: 10000 peasos.
Rifle: 30000 peasos.
Handgun Upgrades; Capacity 5000 peasos, Power 15000 peasos.

etc etc etc.

Different Weapons cost different amounts, as do their add-ons. Depending on the size of your attache case upgrade that's usually really expensive but also very useful. Depending on how high the level you're on for the weapon youre upgrading it gets higher too.

So you really have to get every dime you find. Search every cupboard, kill every crow, brake open with your knife every barrel and box, pick up every item the villagers drop, etc etc.

Is it generally easy to find money and treasure?

Yeah it is. More often than not you'll break open a box and have 1000 peasos shining up at you. Villagers usually drop ammo or money. The treasures are harder to find than money, since they're worth lots. Usually rare stones are inbedded in nests or in walls and you have to shoot them out. Very rare treasures can be found pretty much the same way, but very well hidden and you really do need the treasure map to find out exactly where. You wont stumble onto them by mistake more often than not.
Bigger the enemy, more the money hell drop. Vilagers will drop anywhere from 200 to 2000, while bosses will usually drop 15000 or more. Crows don't tend to drop more than 300-600 and most precious stones will get you 2000 while rare treasures will gain you a good 10000 sometimes.

As i said, just check every corner of every area, brake open every box, crate, barrel etc you see, and you'll have more than enough ammo and money.




Speaking of braking open, the knife is ALWAYS equiped. If you push R, Leon will aim his gun. If you push L, Leon will hold his knife out. Handy for not wasting ammo cutting peoples heads off when they're on the ground and breaking open crates instead of using ammo.

That's actually EXTREMELY handy, i really like it. I find myself keeping an eye on my ammo and health all the time.
Know whats cool? The introduction of YELLOW herbs. These combined with green permanently increase yours or Ashleys health.

After the house, you go outside, kill Chainsaw dude, go back into the village, then you use the key you should have found in the house on the Church door, the one where all the villagers went earlier when the bell donged.

I don't remember ever barricading myself in anywhere actually. I know you can if you want by pushing cupboard infront of doors and stuff but it isn't really nessesary.

No, not exactly.
When you're on your boat, you can get thrown off and need to swim back to your boat. This is done in quick-time though, tapping the A button as fast as you can before you get swallowed.




.. the villagers don't have molotovs. ever.

well my second day of finals is finally ober and all i have to do is wait for my dad to get home with the game! omg omg omg OMFG I CANT WAIT!!!! ill post right away when i get it and ill post my progress too. o man this is the most exciting day of my life!

man theres so much too it, i've re-started for the 4th time now and i'm STILL finding new secret stuff.

like in one place there's an expensive necklace hanging over a barrel of gross mud. you have to shoot it down to collect it, but it falls in the mud and it's value is lost. i just figured out how to get it without it falling in the mud.
i keep finding tons of new stuff.


and remember, ALL the items except for key items are completely random, so if you break open a box one time and find nothing, then restart, break it open again because there will probably be something in it.

well, to tie you over, a few things i noticed today.

the first 6 villagers you see, you can't shoot their heads off for some reason. but after that, BOOM, heads come flying off easily.
one of the best things to do is have a villager actually grab you from behind, and elbow him in the face. it explodes!
ahhhhh i love gore.

are there any other regular enemies besides the villagers? like other monsters that arent bosses?

Their heads explode from the sheer force. All of them aren't exactly in the best state of mind anyway, and trust me, Leon can elbow and kick like no other.


Yes there are lots of enemies. I don't want to spoil it for you, the reason why the villagers attack, well, the villagers start looking a little bit less like villagers and more like, well you'll see.

If you've ever seen John Carpenters 'The Thing' you'll see where i think the RE4 crew got some of their ideas. The villagers start mutating, and eventually start looking not human at all. Plus there are some evil animals plus the sheer number of different poeple to fight, villagers to the crazy druid types too.

They do they do. The villagers, well you see, they start turning into creatures that resemble all the nasties from The Thing.

There are dogs that sprout several heads and tentacles and start coming at you. Villagers heads blow up sprouting tentacles and legs and, well you'll see because i'm really giving away far to much of the storyline here.

You'll see once you start chapter 2-1.

(there's 3 parts to each chapter, each part takes about 45 mins.)

I managed to finish 3-1, that's as far as i've gotten. I was still with Ashley and had no sign at all of any other characters like Ada or the weird commando guy that stalks Leon later in the game.
Now i'm re-doing it all over with Dis watching so she can see the story, and i keep restarting to get things i missed. Each time i keep getting even more money, treasures, ammo, etc etc.

awsome. i guess the game really IS pretty long then. but seriously, this is getting f***ing ridiculous. im actualy starting to get angry. its almost 6 and hes still not home from work. i am really impatient and im going to break something.

hes about 2 to 2 and a half hours late that usual. sometimes he works later but then he gets home at around 5. this is just worrying me now that hes this late and i cant even contact him.
