hahahah. It's easy. In the room where you set the water sample and do that annoying puzzle where you have to line up the three graphs to match the top one, theres a slot to stick your key into, the one with the card attached to it. Then, when the destruct is set and you have the keycard, go up the elevator in the steam room and use the changed key on the locker, wee Rocket Launcher!

yeah i know how to get it. i figured it out first time i played. its just funny that someone who is supposta know everything about the game doesnt even know where to find something, but he still writes a strategy guide on it anyways. i was gonna e-mail the guy or Prima guides itself and tell them how stupid the guy is

Which guide is that? I don't think i have that one, and i have ALOT of Resi Evil stuff.
Man, i played through the Mercs game for the first time in months the otherday. How many survivors are there exactly? I found 5:
Dario in the Garage
Girl in Blue in the Journalist office
Brad Vickers in the Restaurant Basement
Marvin the cop in the Power Station
Carlos in the Uptown Restaurant
Who else is there, and where?
Also, there are the points that you can hit to gain you extra time, and each time you touch one you get double the time you hit before, starting at 2 seconds, then 4, then 8, 16, 32 etc.
Here are the ones i know of:
In the little alley under the Journalist office
In the Restaurant
In the power station where you find the fuse
That's it. I did know more but i forget.
Can ya help me out?

i dont know anything about the mercs game. ive played it a few times, but i didnt even know there were survivors. duh!

i also didnt know about the time point things. the only thing i tried to do was run through as fast as i could and get the little bits of time as i went along.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 01:00 AM
haha. ya can't do it like that. i'm guessing you haven't unlocked the infinite ammo gattling gun and rocket launcher then huh.
the mercs is fairly easy with Michail. shoot zombies heads off. if theres a barrel, hit the barrel and kill all zombies, gaining about 90+ seconds at once. each combo hit doubles the time you get. each survivor you resuce gives you 20 seconds time and extra ammo or health. when you dodge, you get extra time combos.
i've managed to finish it with michail with over 8 minutes of time! that's almost 2000 bucks to spend on the weapons.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:02 AM
no i havent done anything in it really. like i said, ive only tried it a few times, plus its been a few years since ive played it too. i think ill try again soon though.

It's so much fun! I love replaying RE3.
Plus now that i've unlocked the rocket launcher i can put Nemesis down each time i see him, which means i can get the secret uber fast terminator 2 shotgun, BEST WEAPON EVER.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:19 AM
theres a secret shotgun?!?! f***in awsome!
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:23 AM
Ive decided im gonna start a new RE3 game. before i do, could you explain to me how exactly to use the dodge feature? i could never do it right and i always got hurt.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 01:26 AM
Yeah man. Each time you fight and put nemesis down when it ISN'T nessesary, you get secret stuff.
First Time: Eagle Parts A
Second Time: Eagle Parts B
(Combine to create Desert Eagle, with lazser-sight andhead-poppin action!)
Third Time: First Aid Box that carries Three first aid sprays
Forth Time: Shotgun Parts A
Fifth Time: Shotgun Parts B
(Combine to create Sawn Shotgun, which shots very fast and is reloaded by Jill spinning the shotgun in a cicle, like Arnie on the bike in T2, VERY cool!)
Sixth Time: Infinite Ammo Briefcase, combine with the gun you want to have infinite ammo for that gun.
(Combine with the Mine Launcher to create explosive Homing Darts, which home-in on the enemies and kill upon contact with a large explosion!)

Hrmmm, well the dodge is tricky. I have mastered it but it's really all about timing.
The exact buttoms to use to dodge are actually R2+X which is the same buttons you use to fire. The thing is, if an enemy is attacking you, you'll dodge, and if not, you'll fire.
Say you are shooting a dog, the easiest enemies to dodge. Once it jumps, if you shoot at the same second, you'll hit it, but if you shoot after it jumps at you, you'll dodge it.
If Nemesis is charging towards you, you'll shoot him. But if he reaches you and tries to smack you one, and you try to shoot him, you'll dodge out of the way.
If a hunter is running towards you, you'll shoot it, but if you shoot while it's mid jump, you'll dodge. However, they're fast so they might get you anyway.
See the way it works? You have to watch the enemies, and fire at the right second.

whoa. thats awsome. i only knew about the eagle parts. the guide doesnt even say anything about the other stuff.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:33 AM
thanks a lot for explaining it to me. now i shall start the game!
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 01:34 AM
Best thing is to just practice it a couple times with the enemies you encounter after a save point.
Good luck!
[edit] sounds like a very poor guide. they don't know anything! i could and have wrote better guides.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:44 AM
i guess it is a crappy guide. any other secrets about the game i should know?
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 01:46 AM
Yeah, Jills Diary!!
If you collect EVERY file in the game, you get a secret file at the beginning of your next game called 'Jills Diary' which is really interesting and informative. It's pretty easy to get, as long as you go everywhere, including returning to see if Dario is still alive and obtaining his Diary.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 01:48 AM
yeah the guide covers that in the secrets section. im not sure if ive done it but ill be sure to do it this time around.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 01:51 AM
Don't ask me of the file locations, i simply can't recap that off the top of my head.

Jul 7 2004, 01:56 AM
i wasnt goin to. the guide has all of them.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:03 AM
Then yer all set!
Have fun.
Man, now i wanna play it. But i'm at work.

Plus my girlfriend is constantly emailing me asking for help on Resident Evil 1. I've made her addicted to the RE's, hehe. I love newbie players.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 02:07 AM
haha. RE1 is easy. but this is the first time ive played RE3 is years...and man do i suck! i cannot do the dodge feature. i keep trying but all it does is shoot. and a lot of the time i got git. ive done it about 2 times so far. why cant i do it?!?!?
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:17 AM
It isn't ment to be something that works everytime and you can do easily, the timing is extremely hard to get right. Took me at least 8 playthroughs to finally get the hang of it.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 02:20 AM
im gettiing a little better with it. i find it easy to do with the dogs. i did it about 5 or 6 times on the first Nemisis encounter. right now im using a health cheat so i can practice the dodge on different monsters.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:30 AM
Gameshark?
The best is the walk through walls code, hehe.
Yeah i told you it was easy with the dogs.
Try doing it with the Assult Rifle. When you hold the button to shoot, they dodge automatically.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 02:42 AM
yeah gameshark is awsome. i didnt know there was a walk through walls cheat. all i have is infinite health, a rapid fire cheat which does not work, and some "secret" cheat that i have no idea what it does.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:50 AM
hahah.
i don't even remember what i have anymore, since it's been years since i've busted out the old PS1. i play all my games on a ps2, and the gameshark for Ps1 doesn't work on PS2.
walk through walls is awesome. you can just hop into the wall and shoot enemies from there.
i have i remember the ability to start the game with any costume, 10 slots starting, play as any character (dario, brad, michail, random chick survivors etc).
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 02:54 AM
theres a cheat for RE2 where you can press L2 at any point in the game and it will finish the game for you. i always did it at the start of Leons scenario and played through Claires.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:57 AM
haha, good way to quickly unlock the TOFU Survivor.
Man, that was stupid. Tofu. *shakes head*
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 02:59 AM
yeah it was. i didnt know what it was gonna be when i played that. i thought it was gonna be some japanese dude. then it was just some stupid nasty ass food. the was really easy to get thru too. remember the stupid little noise it made when it got hurt?
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 03:01 AM
Yeah, made me wanna get hurt less lol.
Stupid, tofu survivor. Who thought of that should have been fired. Out of a cannon.
Into the sun.
TOFU fack!!
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 03:04 AM
i never got the Hunk scenario. i tried before but i couldnt. what is it even?
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 03:15 AM
How did you get Tofu, but not Hunk?
Hunk you just need to complete the game, both senarios, once. Tofu you have to do it 6 times!
Anyway, Hunk has the G-Virus and must escape from the sewers where Birkin attacked him to the roof of the RPD where an extraction chopper is waiting for him. It's tough, but rewarding.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 03:17 AM
thats all you need to do to get Hunk? i used a cheat to get Tofu but ive beaten the game several times and never got hunk. strange...
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 03:20 AM
At least an A-Rank for both senarios, completion in under 3 hours both senarios.
If you've done that, i don't see why you didn't get him.
Do you have Dual Shock version?
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 03:21 AM
oooo. yea. never got the A ranking for both. and i just have the normal version.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 03:22 AM
A rank, both senarios.
I suggest Claire-Leon, it's easier.
Dang, you should get Dual Shock, it ROCKS. You can play as Chris Redfield in it.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 03:30 AM
you can? how? is he a secret character in it or something? i never knew that there was a significant differnce between the dual shock version of RE games. i used to have the dual shock directors cut of RE1. idk how the differed from the regular one cuz i never played it.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 02:45 PM
Well, there is a very significant difference between Resident Evil and Directors Cut, but not Dual Shock:
Resident Evil: Original Game
Resident Evil Directors Cut: Original Game, Easy mode game and Arranged Game with new costumes for all characters, harder and different puzzle settings. Also double ammo cheat.
Resident Evil Directors Cut Dual Shock: Same as above, except it vibrates.

Resident Evil 2: Leon-Claire and Claire-Leon game, Hunk Game, Tofu, 2 costumes for Leon, one costume and extra gun for claire, 3 unlockable weapons.
Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock: Same as above, with extra mode. EXTREME BATTLE!! In Extreme Battle you start in the Laboratory with limited rounds, weapons and health. You must explore everywhere, picking up ammo and new weapons and heath, and make it back to the police station, and collect 4 bombs. You can save and use item boxes.
You can play as Claire, Leon, Ada or Chris Redfield, who looks pretty niffty.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 08:23 PM
oo thats awsome. ill try to look for the dual shock version of RE2. i had no idea that there was a big difference.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 08:25 PM
Well i don't think it's worth paying 30 bucks for or whatever you have to pay for it down there, especially if you have RE2 already.
I'm just a RE freak, so i collect everything RE. i have FAR to much RE stuff.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 08:28 PM
it wont be 30 bucks. most ps1 games are like 5-15 bucks. at gamestop, they are really cheap. even new copies of them.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 08:30 PM
I haven't seen a PS1 game for sale in ages here, so i have no clue.
Plus the currency is different. 30 bucks here = what, 20 bucks there.
Shakezulah
Jul 7 2004, 11:21 PM
whats the shortest time youve beaten RE3 in? im trying to get through it fast enough while still getting everything. and could u give me a fast route through the clock tower cuz thats where i am now and i usualy go slow through there.
BurnSide
Jul 7 2004, 11:28 PM
Clock Tower:
If you jumped out the window:
Collect the key behind the picture, run to the chapel on the otherside of the tower and collect the key there. Then go upstairs and use the key on the ladder, go up, collect the key from the music box puzzle. Run back down the stairs, using the CORD on nemesis. Combine your two keys together and go in the door at the bottom left of the stairs, and the locked door in this room. Run through the spiders and solve the time puzzle. Crystal = future, Amber = Past. Collect the cog, run back up to the top of the clock tower and combine the cog with the other cog up there, use them on the machine and run back downstairs. Done.
If you hit the brakes you'll end up in the courtyard. Run to the side door, go into the chapel and collect the key, then run to the otherside of the clock tower and collect the other key, etc etc.
My best time i think is 1 hour 22 minutes.

We have Umbrella sealing off any escape from the town, Alice and SUPER powers, looks like the Lickers are back except they're black and uber fast, some good shots of NEMESIS, Jill looking hawt, zombies in the graveyard and zombie kids at the school, etc etc etc. It's AWESOME.
