i was gonna have NeoCloud over this weekend but since he thinks the game isnt as good as other gay games like MGS3, i wont. he doesnt deserve to, even tho hes already played it.

MGS3 Is really good bbuuuttttt RE4 is so much better.

Jan 21 2005, 03:29 AM
why cant people see that RE4 is the current reigning king of videogames and will be for months to come. Until maybe DMC3 comes out...
BurnSide
Jan 21 2005, 03:31 AM
You know, i think it's time to lay down my... i'm sad to say, complaints about RE4. To be honest, certain things about the game have dissapointed me now that i have finished it.
I've found the replay factor to be limited. I don't have much desire to play through again, why bother yanno? I never had this feeling with previous Resident Evil games.
It's so action-based that the puzzles were extremely dull, and when you do fin an item needed it's almost always used just to open a door and there's none of the feeling of carrying around tons of items with no idea where to use them, yanno? Whoopie, i have a key, it opens a door here, it's not even carried in the main menu screen.
I found it far far to easy too. Especially the last boss, what a terrible letdown that was.
I dunno. I guess it could have been closer to the other games. More actual survival horror and less running, blasting, running some more.
But other than the general feel of it and replay value, it's still amazing. These are my only complaints. What about you guys?
ChrisC098
Jan 21 2005, 03:36 AM
Not Enough Luis. Other than that yeah the feel and replay value.

Jan 21 2005, 03:37 AM
The first time though will be forever my favourite gaming experience i think.
Yeah not enough Ada either. The backstory could have been done, instead we were left to guess.

Jan 21 2005, 03:40 AM
my only complaints are actrualy about the same as yours Burnside. i mean, it is still my fav game of all time right now, despite the bad parts. i know that Capcom spent A LOT of time working on it and thats why its so good but thats also why it has its flaws. they wanted to make something new, but in order to do that, i guess they felt they had to take away some old things like the puzzles. Silent Hill will always be the game for puzzles, no matter what, and Resident Evil will always be the more action-based of the too. i did feel that RE4s puzzles were far to easy, most of them no brainers. the last boss was horribly easy. it should have been like RE2s final boss. now that was hard. but these are also my only complaints. everything else about the game rocks.

Jan 21 2005, 03:43 AM
Absolutely.

The one puzzle i hated was the sliding block puzzle, i hate those in general and was not happy to see one in RE

but after several frustrated minutes we got past it alright.
....only to be skewed by a knight and have to do it over. GRRRR!!!

Jan 21 2005, 03:45 AM
Am i the only not to have trouble with that?
BurnSide
Jan 21 2005, 03:47 AM
On my second playthrough i discovered there was a way to do it in seconds moving each block only once. You must have stumbled on that way, while me and HD screwed it up!

yes it was. i did not like that in the least. ill have to try that easy way next time tho. i liked that part where the painting came up and you hasd to shoot the bottle. it was easy but for some reason, i liked it.

hahah nice.
So, i started Professional Mode today. Holy Hell it's hard!! The enemies are really tough to kill, but there seems to be more bukkets around. Less money. SO far i just finished the Keeper of the Lake boss fight, so not doing to bad. Haven't died yet, but been on the verge for awhile.

I've also been trying to get 5 stars in the mercs game. Got i so far, Ada on the castle level. SOO HARD.

Jan 22 2005, 03:36 AM
cool. i cant wait to start Professional mode. anyways, i stole Zero Hour today. ill read that soon, when im done with the other 2 books im reading.
BurnSide
Jan 22 2005, 04:14 AM
Zero hour was okay, not as good as the others.
I just finished the fight in the house with Luis. FACK that was hard on Pro!! They all crashed through in seconds, i had to run upstairs right away and just shotgun it constantly, took ages and tons of health!
The El Gigante was pretty tough too.
Shakezulah
Jan 22 2005, 05:55 AM
awsome. i played assignment ada again. me and my friend were taking turns but we kept dying so i just quit. then we started a Pro mode game. its kinda hard so far. you get a lot of ammo but you have to use it all almost right away. plus im getting next to no money. i have a feeling this is gonna take a long time.
BurnSide
Jan 22 2005, 05:12 PM
I died a few times with the second El Gigante, and died about 5 times against the Village Cheif boss. MAN THAT'S HARD, his attacks pretty muchy kill you outright and i was still running out of ammo with the shotgun, TMP, rifle and Red9.
Finally passed that, got through the castle. Claw guys are easy now because i know they're blind and only hear you.
But that big room with the cranks, took me a good hour and 8 deaths to pass. It was SO hard. Especially trying to protect ashley. FACK!! Finally past it.
BurnSide
Jan 22 2005, 05:13 PM
I can't believe you're having such a hard time with Assignment Ada. It was so easy! The only big guys you have to worry about are the Chaingunners, and 3 or 4 snipes to the head take care of them. Hell stand in front of them with your TMP and blast away at their skulls, they'll never be able to get a shot off.
Shakezulah
Jan 23 2005, 12:36 AM
ok, its more like 7 or 8 sniper shots to the head, and standing in front of him with the TMP and shooting him doesnt work too well either. so i dont know how you found those to work well against him.
I accidently saved my Pro mode game over my Round 2 game. now what do i do? can i even play round 2 anymore or do i have to wait until i beat pro mode?
BurnSide
Jan 23 2005, 12:39 AM
Well if you saved your data over your round 2 data, then you're screwed, you just lost all your data for that. You can play normal mode again, but you wont have the infinite rocket launcher unlocked or the guns with the ammo, etc etc etc.
I found the chainsaw guys so easy. Basically, a shot with even a pistol to the head will stun them, you just need to wait until they're about to shoot you, then shoot them in the head again, stunning them. Repeating this you can easily stand infront of them and never get hurt. If you can't, you're doing it wrong.
Shakezulah
Jan 23 2005, 12:41 AM
not all my data was lost. i still have my mini-games and stuff. it sucks tho. i guess ill just have to beat the game again. i cant believe i did that.
BurnSide
Jan 23 2005, 12:46 AM
Yeah mini-games and anything unlocked like the Typewriter or characters for the mercs etc etc are saved on a SYSTEM DATA file which can only be deleted from the memory card maintenance screen.
Your actual game data, however, is saved differently. So ya, you're gonna have to do it all over. No bigs tho, it's still fun the second and third time through.

Holy crap, hahahhaha i just discovered that before the battle with Del lago (the creature of the lake) if you stand on the dock without getting into the boat for more than 30 seconds, it'll just come right up and swallow you! Can't wait to try that out hahah.
Shakezulah
Jan 23 2005, 01:53 AM
holy sh** thats awsome. ima have to try that when i get there next time. last i played, when youre tied to Luis and the guy with the axe comes in, i never waited to see what would happen if u didnt dodge it, but this time i did. it was gay. all it was was blood splattering all over the screen.

Pretty weak. Later on if you get stabbed by Krauser or something you at least actually see him get stabbed.
Getting killed by the Village Cheif even gives you a satisfying neck snap.

What the hell? Seconmd page? Biatches.
Pro mode is getting really hard. I'm just about to fight Salazar, fortunately i saved the rocket launcher. I've died 29 times! You have to be SO fast on the buttons, holy moly.
Shakezulah
Jan 24 2005, 09:37 PM
wow. it sounds hard. i havent really played that much lately, but ill get around to it. i have to be careful with when i play videogames now. since i got some bad grades on my report card, i had my videogames taken away for awhile, but i hid my gamecube so that couldnt be taken, so i still have it. its just gonna be really hard to play.

Cool, new vidgame forum.
So i'm just about to fight Krauser on hard mode. Holy hell, i've died about 40 times, which is pretty bad when you think i died about 6 times on normal mode first time through. Thankfully, i have so much money that all my weapons are completely tuned up and stuff, so i think i should be able to complete it maybe tonight. See what happens.

well, the first place i usualy go is the TV and movies forum. at first i clicked in the area where it usualy is, but then i realized it was the wrong section, and im like "what the hell?" then i went back and noticed that everything was moved around on the others section. then i saw the PC and Games section and that made me sad. i liked everything in the Hobbies and Interests section. i mean, videogames are a hobby.

Just about to fight Krauser, chapter 5-3. 14 hours so far, which is about 2 more ontop of what my time was the first time i got here.
The enemies aren't just stronger, there's more of them in some areas.

I dunno, i've never been able to count. Lots.
This time round it took me about 5 tries and the only way i did it was by barracading the windows with the bookshelves, running up stairs and just waiting for them to come in a line with the shotgun. I had to make sure i got each piece of ammo dropped because it takes alot of bullets to put them down sometimes too.
