Walken
Mar 5 2005, 09:20 PM

I'm President Evil.
Shakezulah
Mar 5 2005, 09:25 PM
how in the hell can anyone call you President Evil when you know almost nothing about it?
Walken
Mar 5 2005, 09:26 PM
As explained three pages back, It's an empty title and has nothing to do with the resident evil series.
Now quit it!
Shakezulah
Mar 5 2005, 09:44 PM
well it must have something to do with the series or why else would you call yourself that in the RE thread?
Walken
Mar 5 2005, 09:52 PM
Actully I origonally had that as my screen name on msn, a character on diablo 2, and a habbo screen name.
Neo2005
Mar 5 2005, 11:26 PM
It doesn't matter becuase next to BS(the RE Encyclopedia) i'am the best RE player here so if anyone is President Evil it's me

And i got him
Shakezulah
Mar 6 2005, 03:30 AM
yeah well i havent played that game seriously in like forever. i got it when i was 8, and i really didnt know or care about secrets back then. now , i probably could do well, considering i know pretty much the whole game like the back of my hand. i might try later. infact, i think thats how i will spend my night. playing RE2, reliving old memories

how exactly do you get Hunk?
Neo2005
Mar 6 2005, 03:45 AM
Get an A ranking
Shakezulah
Mar 6 2005, 04:21 AM
thats it? i thought there was more to it, like beat each scenario a certain number of times.
Walken
Mar 6 2005, 11:51 AM
Dudes! President Evil has nothing to do with resident evil, its just funny because it has a P!
If you wanna title, invite your own!

Mar 7 2005, 05:05 PM
Hunk: A ranking in Senario A (either character) and Senario B (either character).
Tofu: A ranking 3 times Senario A (either Character) and A ranking 3 times Senario B (either Character) for a total of 6 A rankings.
Walken
Mar 7 2005, 05:31 PM
Oh...I really can't be bothered to do that.
Can't I use a cheat or something?
BurnSide
Mar 7 2005, 05:33 PM
The only 'cheat' ever built into a RE game was in RE1 Directors Cut, you could double the ammo found.
I'm sure you could use a gameshark or something.
Walken
Mar 7 2005, 06:07 PM
I don't have that.
Better buy it then, I suppose.

Mar 7 2005, 06:11 PM
Waste of money. Just play the games as they're supposed to be played.
Walken
Mar 7 2005, 06:21 PM
I don't know if I've already said this, but for the sake of repeating ones self:
Video games are about fun and stimulation. When I play Silent Hill, I play for stimulation. When I play GTA, I play for fun. If I play a game inbetween these two extreams, RE for example, I will play for fun and stimulation. I will not want to be worrying about a lack of ammo, or no health left, ect. This is the reason I cheat a lot on SA and not at all on SH.
BurnSide
Mar 7 2005, 06:24 PM
If you don't like the game, don't play it then.
Resident Evil is a game where you have to survive an extreme condition with very limited health and ammo. This is what makes it fun. It is not a game to be played blasting through it. Then what is the point?
This, to me at least, makes a game very boring.
Walken
Mar 7 2005, 06:30 PM
Don't get me wrong. They're good games as they are.
I just don't wanna be worrying about how much ammo I've got left when I should be seeing a good plot line unfold and killing lots of people.
A game is boreing if it's not challengeing, but if it's two challengeing, I lose intrest.

I don't know if you have read this, but here goes:
Resident Evil 5 Coming
Capcom producer confirms development, hints at storyline.
March 4, 2005 - Electronic Gaming monthly reports, by way of an interview with Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, that Resident Evil 5 is currently under development.
While there are literally no details to speak of (namely what platform the game will release on and when), the recent interview does confirm RE5 development and also implies that the same changes that went into RE4 would carry over to RE5.
From Hiroyuki Kobayashi's own mouth, "We are going to do a Resident Evil 5, of course, but as for exactly what it will be like...that's something we're busy thinking about right now... [RE4] is the start of a new story line. In other words, when you think of it that way, then it's safe to say that RE5 will naturally proceed from where RE4 left off."

I hope that they make it, i dunno, a little more Resident Evily. Like, less completely action oritented, a little more survival-horror like, with limited ammo and slower movements etc.
I figured out why i didn't get the RE feeling with it like the other games, it's because i was pretty invincible through it, with more ammo than i could handle. Walken made me realise that, i was just bored with it rather quickly.
What would be cool would be a sort of remake of RE2, with Ganados and cites/countrysides thriving with ganados-like people, but making it a little slower, like, featuring someone without the super-leon abilities and whatnot, yanno?

A follow up to the interview, taken from rehorror.com.
QUOTE
Further info obtained from the EGM interview thanks to the GS forums:
"We are going to do a RE5, of course, but as for exactly what it will be like...that's what we're busy thinking about right now. The first four games-1,2,3 and CV, were more or less the story of Umbrella. RE4 takes place six years after those games, and Umbrella's been completely destroyed; this is the start of a new story line, in other words. When you think of it that way, then it's safe to say that RE5 will naturally proceed where RE4 left off. If you play through everything RE4 has to offer, I think you will get a taste of how this progression will work. I'll leave the rest up to your imagination."
He states that RE5 will carry on where RE4 left off and that the previous storyline with Umbrella+STARS is done and dusted, but:
"It's hard to say since it's only out in America. I dont want to make any fast decisions about our future plans until I get a good bead on what the players think of our current effort. We are thinking of all sorts of paths but we havn't dedicated ourselves to one yet."
So there's still time.
Capcom execs are still evaluating what next-generation console to go with, but the inside scoop is that their attention is firmly focused on the PS3. Shniji Mikami is unlikely to be involved with this project.
Misc info obtatined from the interview:
1. The reasons RE4 was letterboxed was to give it a movie-like atmosphere, and to give the behind-the-back view better effect.
2. In one of the betas (either DMC or RE3.5), "the twist was that there was some sort of hidden power locked inside Leon's left hand, and you discovered what it was as you played through the game".
3. Confirmation that one of the RE4 betas was about the infiltration of Umbrella HQ, complete with classic zombies.
4. There was a new female character in one of the betas (possibly the beta that was never shown to the public).
5. Early versions of the real RE4 had conversation choices, but they were taken out because they wanted to control the player's concentration. Also it really didnt change much, although some choices in the middle of the game changed the experience.
6. They acknowledge the shortcomings of the final RE4 boss, but say the difficulty depended on how well you upgraded your weapons. Whether this means that the game adjusted the difficulty if you had really powerful weapons or that some upgraded weapons were overly effective against the boss is unclear.
7. When asked if they'd consider making RE games for PSP and DS, he says its certaintly possible with the power of the systems, but they have no plans at this time.

i dunno. i still RE4 is one of the best games ever, if not the best. i am kinda bored with it now too, even tho i havent unlocked anything special. its just that most of the game didnt have the traditional RE feeling. like going to a castle to kill some druids...thats not RE. but going into a sewer to fight giant monstrous bugs, that IS RE. i just the whole game had that feeling. i liked the amount of action it had tho, it thought it suited the game well. but yeah they did give you too many weapon choices and too much ammo. the weapons were cool tho. another thing, they better bring back the zombies. i liked hte Ganados, but i like the feeling of fighting something that you know is no longer human. the Ganados were almost completly human, just brainwashed. they didnt try to eat you. it didnt have the RE feeling i was looking for again. like you said BS, wandering through the city would be cool. i want there to be a lot of free roaming where its much harder to find out your objective, or you can do obvectives in a different order or have them completly changed from which things you do. i want it to be a new idea, but still have the good old RE touches to it. theres just too much to say tho.

What would be absolutely unbelievably perfect, would be to basically re-create 28 Days Later, only in a RE storyline.
Let's say, the main character in RE5 wakes up, and discovers that his city, where ever it may be, is deserted. With bodies and gore everywhere. He/She is just an average joe. He finds some weapons, and is suddenly attacked by a crazy human, like a Ganado but more ferocious, wanting to rip you to shreds.
As you progress you find everyone in the city is either dead or infected in some way, and maybe to add a great connection to the last game, you eventually team up with Leon, or maybe a previous RE hero like Jill or Chris, and you fight together to survive this nightmare with limited ammo and weapons, through dark subways and over highways and through buildings etc etc. Eventually you find out that Umbrella was resurected and again had a leak of somekind with their new virus, some sort of crazy variation of Los Plagas that Ada stole at the end of RE4, which turned everyone into mindless crazy 'fast zombies' wanting to eat your flesh and the like.
Something along those lines. 28 Days later is a perfect backdrop for a RE5 game.

good idea but the way i see it i dont think they should put re5 on ps3 but save it for the new nintendo like ill buy em both anyways but if nintendo continues theyll always have better software unless ps3 catches up it should b on the revolution... viva la revolutiion!!!

you know what would be even cooler. a Dawn of the Dead like RE game. like you have to travel to certain places throughout a city with a group of people. along the way to each place, you would have to protect yourself and your group from zombies and other monsters. anyone in your group could die at any point, and depending on when and where they died, the whole story changed. then once you got to your destination, you would have to gather equipment and hold off your temporary base for a few hours to several days, in real time! you would have to leave the place to search for supplies for awhile so you can survive. you can constanly keep watch on security cameras to make sure everything is ok. then eventualy the place you are at would become to infested with monsters and such and you would have to leave. another cool twist would be that you have a certain amount of time, lets say 12 days, to get to an evac point so be saved, and if you dont make it in time, then you are stuck in the city and you and the remainder of the group would all die,s o everything you did would have been for nothing, which i think adds an extreme amount of pressure on the player. i dont know about you, but i think that would make an awsome RE game.
btw BS, did you check my Musashi thread?

Yeah, i saw, not really interested.

yeah Outbreak could have been so much better. it had great potential, but i guess its ok the way it is. i think there was actualy supposta be a Dawn of the Dead videogame similiar to that, a first person shooter. that would have been sweet.
not interested?! its like Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry combined. whats not interesting about it.

heh o well. your loss. ill tell you how good it is when i get it!!!

seriously tho, if you like the PS1 FF games and Kingdom Hearts and such games, then i suggest to at least try the first game if you could find it. you will get caught up in the game quickly. its worth it, but its pretty time consuming the first time through.
ANYWAYS to get back on topic, sort of, i got a new IGN email today about the new Spring line-up of games coming out, and there is a new survival horror game coming out a week from today called Cold Fear. it sounds pretty cool, from what ive read. i took this following info from the Gamestop (not Gamespot) website:
Players step into the role of Tom Hansen, a U.S. Coast Guard who is sent to board a drifting Russian whaling ship in the middle of a howling storm on the Bering Sea, who will discover there is no safe place here. On this constantly rocking and shifting ship and a mysterious oil rig, players must turn their interactive surroundings to their advantage to take down human enemies - and enemies that aren't human any more - and save their own life.i also have a few screenshots from it.

thats all the site had, but it looks pretty good, huh? i know its not RE but i just thought i would share a new game in the survival horror genre in this thread.

Hey BS how do you get the silencer in RE4 for Leon in the main game?
Walken
Mar 9 2005, 01:01 PM

Looks good HD.
Neo, dunno mate. It seems to have been removed from the main game for some unknown reason, only being available as Weskers pistol in the Mercs game, the silencer is un-detachable. I don't know why it doesn't appear in the main game, it would have been great.
Walken, Code: Veronica, naturally. The next game in the series.
You should really play:
Zero,
Remake
2, 3,
Code Veronica
4.
They're the main games.

Mar 9 2005, 04:31 PM
So whats with all of the cut offs? Are they worth playing afterwards.

Out of all the RE extras, which include:

Survivor 2 Code Veronica

RE3 Nemesis is easily my favourite of the PS1 games.

If you've seen Resi 2 the movie, you know what to expect in the film. Similar styles, ect. And nemesis, of course.
They should make a movie set around RE 2 now.
Just thinking about the intro to RE3. It is the COOLEST!
