Oh well.

MGS3? bah. to be honest, i thought that game was kinda bad. boring through a lot of it, and not that entertaining. i dont like espionage games like that in the jungle. sure its a good idea to start out with, but how many different scenarios can you have in a setting like that? it eventually starts to get to be relatively the same thing over and over again.

Shakezulah

lab monsters? hmm...do you mean the Chimairas? cuz those are the only things i can think of in RE that crawl on the ceiling besides Lickers and Spiders, and niether of those slit your throat.

Lab monsters. Well.. that's most likely the Chimeras, from RE1. Cause yeah, they hang on the ceiling, and then bounce on your back and claw at you.

Technical question; what were those little leaches in RE2 called?
BurnSide
Apr 3 2005, 04:39 PM
hrmm.. there were leaches in Resident Evil 2? The only small creatures i remember, are the Crows, and the G-Embryos the G0Type spits out. Refresh my memory if there were others.
Leaces first appeared in RE3, and they were spawn from the Grave Digger, giant worm creature.

Oh yeah, in the pipe, of course. But i don't count them as enemies really, you don't fight them you just run through them. They're not mutated, i would say that is more of an environmental hazard.

Indeed, it was an amazing feature and i have to say i was a little miffed that Capcom did not use the same idea in the Resident Evil Remake.
Having two seperate storylines for the two characters makes so much more sense than having the same storyline, made a little different depending on who you're playing.
tendo
Apr 4 2005, 05:36 PM
yes...yes...i wondered why that didnt happen on all games where in 2 characters are choices...there are cockroaches in re4, as well...tho u cant do n e thing about them...they just stand there and rotate outside the oven from where the burning zombie pops out...i spent a few minutes shooting, slicing, and grenading them, haha...
just wondering...if u dont go to the tower in re4, where u call for backup...does n e thing different happen? does mike not show up, or sumthin? and why can u shoot any animals...EXCEPT THE FARKING DOG!!!!???? u shoot the dog in the beginning stead of helping him out, he yelps and runs away...u shoot the dog in the village...he yelps and runs, and u cant kill him no matter what!!! its so frustrating...and why can u shoot some of the torches? this game brings up so many questions, none of which actually matter...hahaha

Tendo, the reason you can't shoot the dog is because he helps you in the second boss fight.
tendo

nooo, not that dog...theres the dog u help...which helps u in el gigante, but in the village, the second part of the village, where u learn about the blue medallions, there is a dog walking around...a different dog than u saved (the one u save is whiter, and has a bloody leg), and u cant kill it. i see no reason why u can kill ppl, cows, and chickens, but not this irrelavent dog...>_>
BurnSide

You can kill the spiders.
tendo
Apr 4 2005, 05:50 PM
You can kill the spiders. devil.gif heh heh heh...yeah...i hate spiders too...but i only found one to kill which saddened me...and o...i hadnt noticed...maybe the lightings different so it looks darker, and i didnt see the bloody leg for some reason...huh. sorry for doubting haha. some of the funnest things to do to the zombies and ganados in re games...throwing incendiaries in a big bunch of them, throwing a normal grenade in a big bunch of them, throwing a flash grenade in a big bunch of las plagas...hmm...im noticing a pattern...stomping on or kicking off their heads when they grab your ankles...blowing their dynamite up while theyre still holding it...
and my number one fave thing to do...shoving a flash grenade in their mouth and shooting it...heh...bye bye head...mwahaha
BurnSide
Apr 4 2005, 06:01 PM
Yeah that was always fun in the REmake, especially when the grenade kills a wondering zombie next to the one you put it in the mouth of.
tendo
Apr 4 2005, 06:02 PM
*eyes widen* u can do that? must...try...
BurnSide
Apr 4 2005, 06:03 PM
Of course. If you stay close to the zombie with the grenade in it's mouth, you get hurt. Likewise for any other zombies around the one with the grenade.
You don't need to shoot it either. Eventually, the zombie will start moving again, and actually bite down on the grenade, boom. Takes about 15 seconds.

I hope for the next RE.
That the boss isn;t some huge montrosity.I think the RE guys focus to much on making them big and unimaginable.
For the next RE they should make a bad guy that is almost invincible and carzy hard to beat.
That why i loved Krauser so much.
Until he sprouted that arm thing anyway.

Yeah, that thing sounded cool. I always thought of it as being a 10 foot tall T-Rex with big arms, coool. I wish they made a RE game, Rebecca as the main character, doing books 2 and 4 as one game. That would be SO awesome. Fighting zombies with guns in Caliban kinda like MGS, and going through the idfferent environments in the Underworld labs. Sweeeeet.

Well, i have both the PAL (european) versions and the NTSC (American) versions of RE1, and with each came a manual that gave you the back story, basic controls, characters, and tips. No monsters were in it, they were a suprise. Survival horror.
So you probably saw them in an unoffical walkthrough in a mag or something. Some of the old RE1 walkthrough books did call them that if i remember back. I have them all but can't be bothered to check. And it didn't ever mention the name of it in RE1. The slideshow of creatures you get in the labs details the Cerberus, dog, the neptune shark, the hunters, and the tyrant.
So offically the mags started calling it a Chimera, and it generally got picked up as being called a Chimera. Then, the RE1 action figures were released, and on Jills it was 'Jill with Chimera' and it was the lab monster. So after that, it was offically named the Chimera.

Sorry to go into so much detail there.

that would be an AWSOME idea to make Caliban Cove and Underworld a game. i have to say, i liked Caliban Cove much better than Underworld, but Underworld wasnt too bad either. i loved the part in Caliban Cove when they first arive there and a giant mutated squid attacks them. that was pretty damn cool. it would make for a sweet boss.

I have to add at this point, that they made the Chimeras in the RE Remake, especially freaking scary. Diving through vents, grabbing you. Because the game is so realistic, you really feel the fear of walking in a dark, really loud boiler room with monsters crawling overhead.
What was especially nice, was taking the Colt Python to their heads, and blasting them 10 feet in the opposite direction in a bloody mass of bone and snew.
DAMN Resident Evil rules!!!

Specially caliban cove becuase of the crazy cool puzzels and there are tons of characters(only 2 survive) you could have a RE2 like double storyline.
That would be awesome.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 10:29 PM
Exactly! Choose your character! You could choose at the beginning to play as David or Rebecca, since they're the only survivors. And then in part 2 of the game, Underworld, you could play as Rebecca, David, Leon or Claire, and see the game through their different perspectives.
Neo2005
Apr 6 2005, 02:18 AM
Yeah and for a bonus level you could play as Barry in his house at the beggining or as Chris or even Jill.
And then in Underworld for a bonus level you could play as The people who go to Europe if i remember the book correctly

BurnSide
Apr 6 2005, 03:55 PM
Oh yeah. But it's not as cool as it originally sounds.
In RE4 you do a little more freeroaming than in previous RE games. The first area you come to is a small village. You can bust down doors, jump through windows etc all you want in the small houses, but for the doors where you actually need to go somewhere you always need to find the key or item to open the door as before.
Yona
Apr 6 2005, 03:59 PM
Oh that is so horrible, The feeling of freedom with out actually... freedom. Wow, and I thought it would be cool, like you could bust down all the doors down to the last boss, but if you didn't complete the missions he would seriously mess you up.
BurnSide
Apr 6 2005, 04:01 PM
No, not like that at all.
It's still a Resident Evil game, you can just go rushing through the game busting down all the doors.
The game is divided into huge areas you explore. The first area is a long path through the woods with many huts to explore and a house. You can go in the house, blast the door down and have a look inside, but once you reach the end of the area there is a big door you can't blast down. You can go through it, but it's a loading door, to load up the next area which is the village. Get it?
Yona
Apr 6 2005, 04:03 PM
Oh yeah!kind of like half life:counter shift. if you put on the float through walls cheat, you can effectly go to any area in that loaded portion, but untill you get to the load door, nothing will happen! right?
